  1. It's great to hear from you Ray P. Sorry to hear of so much going on and the loss of your wife.
  2. I'd use it - mix of mobile and pc. GreycieMae is a ham, there's no reason she shouldn't be schmoozing for the cameras....
  3. I check the forum multiple times daily - almost always nothing new. Have tried to drag a few people here that, like me, get tired of the Facebook drama in those groups with tens-of-thousands 'members'. I've never successfully gotten anyone to come here. Facebook has managed to kill off a lot of forums. They can't kill off things like Maxima.org because the knowledge base is too huge and FB can't compete with the search-ability to find content that people rely on to diagnose and fix their vehicle. Another of my favorites, Caique site, went under a few years ago. The Caique FB groups are nothing compared to what was buried in the forum. AvianAvenue is still going strong but I get tired of the mamby-pamby over there so don't go much. Would hate to see this place go but there's also not much going on here either.
  4. Stash his favorite treat in there - and make sure he knows it's there. I bet he'll be in it before long.
  5. Alfie hits the jackpot. Love how he's checking out the new carrier. Won't be long and he'll be hoofing it downtown.
  6. The behavior you describe is just like Huey is with me. At times he calls for me and wants me in the same room (control issue I assume) but I'm not allowed to touch or play with him or his things unless it's his idea. My wife can get away with anything with him. Occasionally I will do something, or touch something that is his and he will launch across the room and attack me. It doesn't really bother me much because I have other birds that want to stick to me like velcro. I think he likes me a little because lots of times when I try to put him down, he reaches down and bites me and I know he's telling me, not yet, he's still having fun. He likes to play under the covers. When I do it, he bites really hard, out for blood type of biting. But when he does it with my wife he just nibbles gently. There have been times where I've snuck in and she talks to him and I play with him and I get to see how he treats her simply because he doesn't know it's me. 🤣
  7. You may not know how good of a situation you have going for you. They will be really content to have a friend. What a great lil flock ❤️
  8. Huey has really taken to my wife. Actually he thinks she is his wife and that I need to be evicted (he's tried on several occasions). He has started calling her by the name I and her mother (originally) use for her - "Belle". Huey says "Belle" exactly like I say it, only he usually gets a response, I usually get ignored?!? We like to think of Huey as a public figure around here. He performs a very important community function that we call "Lunches with the Ladies". He has a certain call that he makes whenever there is a female around. I'll have to get it on video someday, it's really cute. Whenever his kitchen staff (me) is busy getting a tray of delish ready, he's busy calling all his ladies to his important community function - Lunches with the Ladies. And as most of you know, we are living in the "me too" era where men are getting busted left and right for inappropriate behavior, well, it has happened here too. It has been found out that Lunches with the Ladies is merely a pre-cursor for spooning with the ladies.. How inappropriate! Huey busted, caught in the act, spooning with a lady after one of his community events:
  9. Love to see Greys with a buddy!
  10. I see the birdy. Is half of aviary covered?
  11. When we brought Huey in we just let them look at each other for a while. Supervised together time for a while. GreycieMae tried to bully him like she bullies everybody but Huey's a strapping male and quickly showed her who can be boss birdy. They get into little stabbies every now and then when they're not dining together. I never keep them in same cage when they have to be caged.
  12. I think it's in their genes to love cheese. Both GreycieMae and Huey, who is picky, will beg for cheese and won't drop a single crumb. GreycieMae doesn't eat cheese, GreycieMae inhales cheese. This leaves Huey in a bad spot as she will then work her way over and start eating his cheese right out of his talon. It's funny to watch him try to keep her out of his cheese, keep his balance and not drop the cheese. I have to give her the cheese in tiny little bits inside her travel cage so she can at least spend some time eating her cheese instead of swallowing it as fast as she can...and stay out of Huey's cheese.
  13. Sounds like our Huey. He loves to keep tabs on me, as I'm his head chef, custodian, gopher, etc, but his real love is reserved for his woman. She gets the cat calls, the lovey-dovey cuddles and all the sugar Huey can dish out.
  14. Here's a Rosalinda video. Her best one is probably on Facebook but this one is pretty darn cute. Me and GreycieMae sit around and watch her videos all the time.
  15. She is so sweet. Of course she can have a cookie and go up to the tree 😍 Around here 'cookie' means the honey graham crackers. I've never met a bird yet that didn't like those. Not sure if you've ever heard of the Grey 'Rosalinda' on youtube/facebook. Inara talks in such a sweet voice just like Rosalinda. Kills me everytime I watch her and now Inara too. These birds could talk me into robbing a bank with that sweet voice.
  16. Hold on...fell out of my chair...picking myself up off the floor. Murfchck is back!
  17. Did Fynn ever get over his whatever it was? He's such a cutie in that picture. Hope he likes squeezes.
  18. I'm just waiting for the day when you update us that Alfie has you wearing the harness and sticking your nose through the loop for a treat 🤣😂
  19. Glad to have you back, especially since you will now be posting videos! We have a talker too now but he doesn't talk like that. He's more of a one-word type of guy. I wish I had one to converse with like HRH Inara. Our Huey responds to my wife but I can't get my wife to hold conversations with him. I'd talk all day to him if he'd respond to me. Wish we had a vet in my area like the one you are seeing. What you describe is very rare, most vets are sort of useless e.g. our Huey being on an anti-psyhotic for 10 years - vet prescribed! GreycieMae plucks in a similar way. It was bad for a while and then she stopped the bulk of it but she loves to pull a down feather out right in front of me where I can hear it pop out and I get riled up about it. I think she enjoys getting me torqued. Next time you make a video, hide the camera in the HRS Inara's room, it'll be easier to make out what she's saying. What a stinker she is.
  20. Don't beat yourself up. Greys are very resilient. You should not have clipped the bird but they will recover. In the 90's the advice was to clip one wing. We're now at the point where clipping is detrimental no matter what. However, if you're bird learned to fly at some point, being clipped now won't be much of a hindrance once they get their flights back. Your biggest problem is fretting over it. They will sense this like you have a snack in your pocket. Just get over it, the feather wills molt out later and we'll all be back to normal.
  21. And careful about using advice from FB, there are a lot of parrots there that just repeat garbage they've read without any real thought about it. My favorite is the "how long do they live" and then the "80 years+" answers start rolling in. Anyway, if you would have asked here first, I would have suggested putting towels on your windows and mirrors until they get the lay of the land. That's a much better solution than clipping. All 8 of my birds are flighted. I will never clip a bird as they love the freedom to scoot around in the fashion birds do - through the air. Im' a little jealous actually. You just need to take precautions for escape exits and ceiling fans etc. Use the forum to ask, someone here knows.
  22. Look up Sally Blanchard's Chair Exercise. Not the first time I've read about a clipped bird losing trust.
  23. GreycieMae's problem is her daddy is a hyper high-strung human. Her must be on her toes all the time. Poor thing can't relax much.
  24. I remember you Charlie Grey. Time to post up pics - pronto.
  25. Well, you're further along with Dixie than I am with Huey. I can't pet Huey on the head like that without a definite hard bite. She seems to be somewhat anxious and playful at the same time. I can tell you'll get a long ways with her if you don't lose patience. Try interacting a lot with her at night just before bed time. They all seem to put their inner dinosaurs to bed early and then you're left with a cuddly Grey bird to interact with.
