  1. I am wondering if Gilbert and Timber were separated at birth or just soul mates! Timber is like that too. When he is in the carrier (like going to the vet) he says every word he knows plus some I didn't know he knew. When he is in/around his cage and feeling comfortable he is not a chatterbox. At the vet's office (in the waiting room, still in the carrier) he was entertaining everyone and talking up a storm. Everyone in the waiting room was his new best friend. Funny!
  2. Awesome indeed! It would sure make things easier if we could tell what they are thinking. I'd love to have an explanation for some of Timber's moodiness. I've tried to figure it out, but can never find a pattern. On the plus side, I'm able to pet him daily now. Before he started allowing that, I was scratching his head through the cage bars while he bit down on the bars. I always thought there was such a look of longing in his eyes. So, I know what you mean! Those moments make it all worth while
  3. That makes three of us then. Did you get the verdict on the DNA test?
  4. The only vegetables my TAG will eat are sweet potato (cooked), carrots (fresh or cooked), broccoli (fresh or cooked), and sweet peas (fresh). I think it is an individual bird preference, just like my kids were. I've tried a lot of them and these are the winners. I can also slip some of the ones he won't eat plain into birdie bread or a cooked combo (chop type). Also like a child! If he doesn't notice it he will eat it if combined with something he does like. As I'm sure someone else pointed out, he is a lot more likely to "try it" if I'm eating it right in front of him.
  5. Nothing crazy about caring enough for your pets to do all you can Nancy
  6. I really appreciate this forum and those who contribute to it. A variety of methods, ideas, and personalities are represented here, and I like how everyone is willing to voice their opinion. It is also very active, which sets it apart from the other forums I have seen. Thank you to the moderators and admins that donate their time and expertise!
  7. What a great post! Thanks for sharing. I hope to have that kind of relationship with Timber some day
  8. What a good looking guy! You've made a beautiful area for him there. Welcome!
  9. I always enjoy the Gilbert updates! I've noticed the same thing with Timber. After a pet-fest, he seems pretty pleased with himself and gets active too. With my son (college age), Timber has a love/hate relationship. He seems to have more interest in him than anyone else in the house, but he is very temperamental in his interaction with him. He is always excited to see him, but you can never tell if he wants a scratch or a bite with him. I think he is angry because Dakota isn't always around, but wants his attention anyway.
  10. Thanks Sarasota. Glad to hear it!
  11. LOL That guinea pig noise would be an annoying one! Funny that they waited six months to let loose on that one.
  12. I didn't know they would send samples. Thanks for the tip!
  13. I checked and I'm fine on the recall. Thanks for the other info too!
  14. I'm hoping for some good answers to this question too. I was told by the vet that Timber was underweight also, and he was on Zupreem, which was the only pellet he would eat according to his previous owner. I've tried Harrison's, Oven Fresh Bites, other Zupreem flavors, roundybush to no avail. The only thing he WILL eat better is nutriberries. Not ideal I know, but I'm more concerned about getting his weight up right now.
  15. I'm a newbie myself so will let the questions wait for the experienced members. I really enjoy watching the videos of others interacting with their birds though so thanks for the video and welcome
  16. So sorry It's hard enough to lose one from age, but must worse when you know someone's (or company's) negligence is responsible. God bless you.
  17. Maybe when I learn more about his body language I can tell the difference between whale eye, stink eye and evil eye. For now, I'm just happy that he's getting more tolerant of me, at least most of the time!
  18. LOL Not sure which I like better, "whale eye" or "stink eye." I certainly have figured out what it means though!
  19. Funny pic of Jager. He looks like a Cockatoo wannabe Beautiful bird
  20. Thankfully he isn't as big and bad as he thinks he is
  21. Here's another pic of Timber, after bath, dry, in "leave me alone I'm resting" mode. The rest are his furry siblings.
  22. Is it normal for greys to eat a lot one day then not so much the next? Timber was a real pig yesterday, eating everything in sight. Today he is just picking around and not eating much. I've noticed this before. His other behavior doesn't change, just his level of consumption. Thanks!
  23. Enjoyed that! Thanks for sharing
  24. Timber here. I don't get out much. This new place is kinda scary. I stay in my cage a lot because I'm just not sure about this place yet. The big one with the fuzzy hair watches me like a warden. She won't let me get down on the floor and I want to walk around there like I did at my last place. She seems to think those four cats can take me. Ha! I give them the stink eye and they walk away. I hang from the bottom of my cage and call them, but when they come she makes me go back to the top of my cage. I just want to taste their noses, but she thinks I should be afraid of them! On the other hand, the food is better here and I've gained a little muscle I think. I've decided the fuzzy headed one is a pretty good head groomer so I allow her to get the places I can't reach. Here she come... signing off!
