    Poor baby

Glad to hear culture came back normal. I suspect this whole ordeal is harder on you than it is on your baby. It reminds me of when my children were young! It sounds like she is coming right along
  2. Yes indeed to the treats from hands. That was my first "connection" with Timber. He was willing to tolerate my hand in his "space" only if it was holding something he wanted, and he was a perfect gentleman for food. We use every advantage they give us!
  3. Good pic! Thanks for sharing. Isn't it funny how much greys like noise? Timber has learned to make this really loud sound (I really can't describe it, it is like a click magnified by 20) which he now uses to scare the cats. He waits until they are all relaxing in the room were he is, then makes it and watches them run in all directions with glee.
  4. Yes, it sounds like things are going great! Go slow and keep the faith. Good luck with the diet, that will be slow as you said. I'm glad you are enjoying it, and don't be discouraged if you seem to regress with him (otherwise known as the "honeymoon" period). Sometimes it is seems like two steps forward and one step back, but you are still going the right direction
  5. Yes you will. I "clicked" at my coworker when I went past her office today. Couldn't believe it! Ha.
  6. Good deal! Hope the hurricane blows itself out before it gets to you...
  7. Have you tried the nicotine replacement gum? That helped me.
  8. Thanks! I guess he is already maxed out then. His sprouted seeds (given daily) have a few chickpeas so he is probably already at his limit.
  9. My coworker (from India) brought me some Bengal Gram for Timber. It is commonly eaten by people and fed to birds in India. I googled it and it appears to be a variety of chickpea? The nutrients look good. I just wanted to check with the forum pros and make sure it is OK to feed Timber. Anyone have any experience or know what this is?
  10. As everyone else has said, Charlie is doing well but doesn't trust you yet. It takes them time, sometimes a lot of time. I got Timber in June of this year and it was about 6-8 weeks before he wanted my hands on him. For some it is less, for some it is more. Read the above posts carefully, there is a lot of useful information there!

What a day for the webcam to fail! It will be interesting to hear if the vet thinks she caught it from you. I know some illnesses are transmissible, but don't know much about it.
  12. Hi and welcome Devi! Why don't you tell us about yourself on a new thread and post some pics of your flock?
  13. I really enjoyed reading about Charlie! They are truly amazing birds. Happy adventures to you, the family and Charlie

    Poor baby

Glad to hear she's eating better. Hang in there!
  15. Not bad though! I have three bloody spots from my run in with Timber this morning. Maybe I need to get the book!
  16. Hello John, welcome and God bless
  17. LOLOL I'm sure you're right about the hypnotic gaze! I'm sure Timber only bit me because he could no longer resist the lure of my intoxicating flesh in close proximity to his beak. Oh Lord it's hard to be humble...
  18. I'm a newbie so can't offer much advice, but I'd think if you had the time and patience you could work with her and handle her to at least some extent. More experienced people will chime in. Meanwhile, welcome and good luck
  19. I was just referring to stages of development, like human children go through. I've never had a baby, but when others responded saying young birds do that (land on the head) I assumed it was a phase they went through. Sorry for any confusion!
  20. Sure wish I'd been looking closely at Timber this morning when he decided to take a plug out of my hand. He hasn't bitten me to over two months and I wasn't expecting it! Hard to think of everything at moments like that. In hindsight, I should have looked for eye pinning as I was trying to extricate my thumb from his beak
  21. So glad to hear things are going well for you and Romeo! Thanks for sharing the pics also. He's looking better all the time
  22. So sorry to hear the cat has been in pain for that long, but so happy to hear you've found him and are going to take care of him!
