  1. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am leaving on a church mission trip tomorrow and will be gone about a week and a half. I'm not sure how much time I will have on the internet. I always wonder when members who are "always around" don't post, so I thought I would give everyone a heads up. Timber will be staying home with hubby, so all should be well there.
  2. I have the tv on for white noise all the time for Timber. He doesn't seem to pay much attention to it one way or the other. I leave it on animal planet, and sometimes he will respond to the sounds the animals are making. Other than that, I don't think he thinks of it one way or the other. Interesting situation you have there. I'll be curious to hear how Dorian reacts if you make some of the suggested changes or figure it out!
  3. What a good looking grey! Good luck and God bless
  4. Yeah for the hen and chicks! Cool story. We have one that sits in the backyard overlooking my outside bird feeder. He will come around, leave for a few weeks until the birds become unwary again, then return to "visit."
  5. Wow, I'm surprised you got the chick back! I love a story with a happy ending. My mom used to keep a broom by the back porch door for hawks and the occasional owl that would try to get a chick or a kitten. She wasn't always successful, but she gave it her best shot!
  6. OK, I picked general because I know little about Amazons and I assume they are like greys, individual! I'll bet there are a lot of clingy Amazon's out there. That said, I have no experience and little contact with Amazon's!
  7. Great going Gilbert indeed! I know what you mean about that forage toy. Every time I get a new one, I'm tempted to just toss it in the cage and let Timber show me how it works.
  8. Funny! I'll bet he was perturbed when he wasn't back there too...
  9. Yes, nothing interferes with "me" time for our birds! Sounds like a nice tree you have there
  10. Yes, exciting stuff! You are on the countdown now.
  11. Glad I don't have one either. The closet is already full of things that got the "if I touch it I will die" treatment!
  12. LOL If he doesn't it won't be for lack of trying I'm sure!
  13. Guess you may be going from notagrey to sortagrey since you have other birds??
  14. LOL He is special! They are like our kids. They are all truly special
  15. Sounds like a dunker to me! I really have no idea why they do what they do, but Timber does that with certain foods. Just certain ones mind you, but some things always get dunked then picked at.
  16. Good for you! Glad the decision is over and also glad Tango took to it immediately. You just never know what to expect with them. Sometimes they have irrational (or so they seem to us) fears and other times they are unfazed by what we expect to scare them.
  17. Looks cool! Truth on the six month wait
  18. What a horrible thing to hear! Those poor birds. As Greywings said though, it would be heartbreaking to bring a baby home then lose them to disease. That has happened to some of our members and how tragic it is! Hang in there...
  19. There is no telling what Sukie will come out with. One of the great things about being a grey parront is how they are always surprising you. I've had Timber for almost a year and once in awhile he will say or do something that I know came from his past, since he hasn't learned it at my house.
  20. Wow, what a disappointment that your arrangements fell through! I'll let those with experience answer your question. As for me, I'd probably go with the "mothers." At least Pearl would be in familiar surroundings with people she knows anyway!
