  1. What great pics! I can't imagine how thrilled you are to have your girl back again. One question though, what parrot spice are you talking about? I need all the help I can get when it comes to getting Timber to eat anything (except junk food of course).
  2. Great news! Most of us start with head scratches through the cage bars, and I know what you mean about being concerned you are being lured in for a bite! Good progress though, and it will grow from there. Good luck with the cage switch. I had the cages sitting side by side and let Timber climb in and around the new cage before I made the switch.
  3. Good thread as info for those who haven't found out the hard way. Timber doesn't seem to react to my clothes or nails, but the first time I put my hair up in combs to go to aerobics class he would have nothing to do with me. Sunglasses are also a no-no, though he has gotten used to my reading glasses. You just never know what (if anything) will cause them to react. That's part of what makes them so interesting!
  4. I'll bet you are both looking forward to a "cone-free" future! Good job of hanging in there
  5. She will remember them. I don't think they forget any words they know, they just choose when they want to say them. I'll bet after she gets settled in again, she will pick right up on her vocabulary!
  6. I have nothing to contribute because I don't have the knowledge. I have my first grey and I rehomed him at age 5 so no baby experience! I did want to say hello and welcome to the forum though! As Ray said so well, we all make our own choices for our own reasons. I didn't think your initial post was offensive in any way. No one likes to be hammered for decisions they make. Good luck and God bless
  7. Not me Mema, sorry! Too far from New Jersey.
  8. Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers! We had a great trip but boy is it good to be home. Hubby said Timber was mad at him the whole time, but was eating and acting normal. He decided Timber was just mad because he wasn't me. Timber was a bit standoffish when I first came in, but by the next morning he was perched on my arm letting me give him his daily scratching. I'm relieved that he didn't stay mad at me for days, because I know he can be a grudge holder. All's well that ends well!
  9. Loved the pic! Thanks for sharing
  10. What fun videos! Nice setup you have there
  11. What a heart wrenching story! So glad it ended well for you and Greycie. I am so thankful that both my doors going to the outside have fully screened porches which give me an "extra layer" of protection. I'm letting Timber's clip (from when I brought him home) grow out, and the thought of losing him just terrifies me.
  12. Wow he's doing great! Enjoyed the pics and video
  13. Timber has very little chance of natural sunlight because of the way our house is structured. I also use a light. Someone asked if they generate heat, they don't. At least no more than any light bulb.
  14. Great to hear things are working out for you. I love a happy ending!
  15. I rehomed Timber at age 5 so I don't know his first word. The first word I heard him say was Timber. They are usually very fond of their own name!
  16. What a shame about Whisper's wing! That doesn't mean she can't enjoy a full life. Sounds like she is coming right along! Good luck and God bless
  17. Thanks! I'm looking forward to it.
  18. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am leaving on a church mission trip tomorrow and will be gone about a week and a half. I'm not sure how much time I will have on the internet. I always wonder when members who are "always around" don't post, so I thought I would give everyone a heads up. Timber will be staying home with hubby, so all should be well there.
  19. I have the tv on for white noise all the time for Timber. He doesn't seem to pay much attention to it one way or the other. I leave it on animal planet, and sometimes he will respond to the sounds the animals are making. Other than that, I don't think he thinks of it one way or the other. Interesting situation you have there. I'll be curious to hear how Dorian reacts if you make some of the suggested changes or figure it out!
