  1. I didn't know any of that Ray. Thanks for the post! Hubby is still eyeing Amazons...
  2. LOL Sounds like Elliott knows what he wants (or doesn't want). Sorry to hear you weren't happy with the cage. I'm always looking, but since Timber finally agreed to move into the large cage I had for him, I think we are good for now. Hope you get your parts etc. with no hassles and the transition is smooth!
  3. LOL I know what you mean. It has been over a year now and Timber keeps changing things up!
  4. What a beautiful baby! I've never had a baby so love seeing people's pics and stories about them. Thanks for sharing
  5. Timber can hold out longer than ten minutes, but I'm glad he decided to be forgiving after a relatively brief time this time! I hope the reduction in "mad" time is a sign of our growing relationship. Might just be the phase of the moon though
  6. My sister had a similar experiences with recluses in her house. For all the literature the tells you about them sticking to the dark, etc., her daughter was bitten twice in her room in broad daylight in the center of the room (once after their first extermination). Makes me wonder how much they really know about that spider, because my sister said they seemed almost aggressive and certainly spent enough time out and about in daylight that they saw them. I sure hope this extermination works for you!
  7. What a cool story! Thanks for sharing I can't use "step up" with Timber either. I can say "wanna go" and he'll step right up. Sometimes the small things make all the difference.
  8. Timber keeps the ball then tries to hit the cats or us with it when we go by...
  9. At least she will have some out-of-cone time! Sounds like a good report from the vet.
  10. No answers here, but I saw a pionus at a bird fair last year that wanted to go home with me so badly that I was tempted... I had only had Timber a few months and had a long way to go with him so I didn't get her. She was the sweetest, gentlest bird. On the other hand, I assume the can vary in temperament just as greys do.
  11. Well my kids weren't thrilled with every vacation we took either Gilbert will survive and thrive
  12. LOL Jan! You have a "proper" bird, and he expects you to be dressed appropriately for any interaction with him. They are so funny...
  13. There are several threads where the best lights for birds are discussed. I'm not sure that we came to any conclusions though as to which is best! I buy mine on amazon.com.
  14. What a beautiful picture! Thanks for sharing
  15. That's great! So glad you found someone. I'm no where near Detroit and have no experience handfeeding. Great to hear parronts "flock" together to help though!
  16. I don't think so Kevin, though someone who knows for sure will probably speak up. That's why I use a light (avian light). My windows have the filters in them and I can't see how any of the rays they need could possibly get through.
  17. What great pics! I can't imagine how thrilled you are to have your girl back again. One question though, what parrot spice are you talking about? I need all the help I can get when it comes to getting Timber to eat anything (except junk food of course).
  18. Great news! Most of us start with head scratches through the cage bars, and I know what you mean about being concerned you are being lured in for a bite! Good progress though, and it will grow from there. Good luck with the cage switch. I had the cages sitting side by side and let Timber climb in and around the new cage before I made the switch.
  19. Good thread as info for those who haven't found out the hard way. Timber doesn't seem to react to my clothes or nails, but the first time I put my hair up in combs to go to aerobics class he would have nothing to do with me. Sunglasses are also a no-no, though he has gotten used to my reading glasses. You just never know what (if anything) will cause them to react. That's part of what makes them so interesting!
  20. I'll bet you are both looking forward to a "cone-free" future! Good job of hanging in there
