OK now that we have the whole "Dave" thing out of the way I would just like to address the whole misinterpretation on my original post. I was not seeking advice about wing clipping etc... In which case I could have just read through the stickies. Which is something I might add that I HAVE done because that is just the type of person I am .. genuinely interested in getting all the information I can. I was stating random examples of facts that might be useful to know about each individual in order to better understand the perspective of each member so we are better equipped to "pick and choose" which advice we wish to implement. I know, I know, it's not my best idea and believe me I was just throwing it out there. I won't make that mistake again. I can't believe how this whole post became about reading stickies - maybe we should concentrate on reading a person's post instead of jumping on bandwagons.
-
I'm sorry, have I jumped to some conclusion in which I do not have all of the information? If so do tell. Have I judged someone? If you think that I have judged someone than I apologize. It was certainly not my intention.
-
I hear where you are all coming from and I agree - one can get what they need from reading the posts. It was just a thought... and apparently a bad one. I do think that hostility should be discouraged but again I seam to be in the minority here.
-
You all have obviously taken offense to my suggestion and think it's ok for Dave to bully people - even to go so far as to stand behind him in his bullying. I for one have read all the stickies and many many posts on this site. My suggestion was in no way meant to say anything about stickies. I for one will not continue to be bullied, Good riddance. I will miss a few of you but if you think my suggestion warranted such a lashing then I will not be in such an unfriendly place.
-
I am not sure why so many of you thanked Dave for yet another hostile post.
-
Why am I not surprised.

Oh, that's too funny - Mine had a few missing too so I brought it in for cosmetic "fixes". Now again the f12 and the tab are gone. If I used those counter measures I am afraid I would get bit. All in good fun but my skin is not made for such play. I am working on the braveness issue.

Does yours pluck Keys? Re: Cargo net, yes... I thought the same thing and bought a long thick rope from http://www.knotandrope.com/ Which was too stiff and thick to tie into the necessary knots so it is now draped around my basement making cool parrot pathways down there. Make sure you call them and let them know what you are going to do with it and they can probably suggest a non-toxic rope that you can tie in knots. Their cotton rope might be even better to use.

It's a cargo net. Dayo loves to climb around on it. I got it at MySafeBirdstore.com http://www.mysafebirdstore.com/product.cgi?group=18991&product=18994 I think thi sis the size I got...It was a while back.

What a sweet face - He certainly does not look aggressive

I like Clarence.... if she's a boy

Funny girl. Do females go through this hormonal behavior as well? Do I have this to look forward to with Miss Dayo? If so about when does it usually start?

How do I post full size images instead of thumbnails?

It's happening again... Covering keyboard with mere paper is no match for this virus. Having grabbed the "tab" key the virus is now contented.
-
I am no expert but sounds like a "warning shot across the bow" just to remind you to pay attention when dealing with him. Miss Dayo sometimes will give me a warning if I am not paying attention or distracted when giving her scritches... she needs to be the center of attention at this time or I will get a warning shot as though to say "If your not going to do this right then move along".

My heart goes out to you and your family. Sounds like Sunny made a peaceful exit. It is heartbreaking when they leave us.

Such a handsome fellow What joy he will bring to your life. -
So cute. he wants his nose wiped too Dayo used to object to having her messy beak wiped with a tissue but now she knows the drill and seams to enjoy it I only need to hold up the tissue and she wiped her beak on it.

Perhaps in order to make it easy for people to view the relevant experience level of the person they are potentially taking advice from we could have an "experience" post where we post our level of relevant knowledge and or experience or an addition to our bio-pages "experience". We do have an "about me" section of the bio page but I have noticed that I don't see people posting relevant information there. Specifically I would be looking to see what is your frame of reference ie; are you a veterinarian, have you owned birds for a gazillion years and if so what is your frame of reference old school or positive reinforcement, do you clip or do you not clip. I would want to know these things about a person and more so I can make sure I am taking advice from someone who is in alignment with what I want for my little family. Although by now I can pretty much tell from what they have to say, In the beginning it was not so easy to decipher so I think it would be a useful bit of information especially for newbies. With such a information we could have a frame of reference so we know whom we are speaking to (especially the moderators should post their experience since their advice usually is given the most weight.). I hope not to ruffle any feathers I only wish to suggest a valuable feature to this already valuable resource. It is quite possible that we already have this info. available in which case, please point me in the right direction and disregard prev. – Mary

Thank you Nancy. I can spin a bowl or a cup or a vase as well as the next guy but I got stuck on making these cups that I designed where I pinched around my hand so your hand fits right into the cup then I fired them in an Anagama kiln... long story short, nobody likes them but me I started selling them at $65.00... sold three, now I'm down to $10.00 but nobody's buying so I think only I like them. I love making them though! And I use one every day - it's my favorite coffee mug. –Mary Here's a link to my Etsy shop... https://www.etsy.com/shop/bluedawgDesign

If you are having troubles getting your grey to eat veggies, try organic veggies. I don't always buy organic (Sometimes it's not available) and without fail Dayo doesn't like the non-organic veggies. She never liked zuccini, Tonight I stopped at the health food store on the way home. Picked up an organic sweet potatoe, a zuccini, an organic mango and an organic pear. Along with her regular mash I chopped up some of each and she just couldn't get enough. It's such a wonderful feeling when they chow down like that Also thought of a great parrot bowl idea. A beautiful, heavy handmade, stoneware bowl divided into four sections so when you want to add some chopped up various and sundry you can fill up the different sections like a buffet. I make pottery so it's on my to do list though I havn't made anything in a while.

Rehoming an African grey with oddly clipped wings
bluedawg replied to Sidhe's topic in The GREY Lounge
I am so glad you are giving her a good forever home. She has no idea what is in store for her as her wings grow out and she begins to learn to fly as she was meant to... she's going to be so happy! -
Yum, He looks very pleased with himself
