He's a bird vet. And we'll known in area. She's been on both these meds before and done well with them. She's already responding well to them I'm just concerned now that I found the empty shafts that that may be a future source of infection. Waiting to hear back from vet today on my question. That and preventing any bad picking habits from forming.
She is on metacam and bactrim. She already seems to be feeling better. She's been very active (not that she wasn't before but it seems better). He didn't do any blood work or anything and doesn't believe there are any dietary factors based on her diet.
I have a feeling I know how it happened. She fell from her perch the other night (do to the way she sleeps) and she has a number of pin feathers coming in. I think she damaged them when she fell and it let in bacteria. I could be very wrong though. I am seeing a few empty shafts that could have been pin feathers that were coming in. I'm not sure if he saw them during the visit so I'm going to call tomorrow and check in.
Thanks everyone. She acting normally otherwise. Chatting up a storm. Flying all over. And eating like a piggy. Lol. Have apt in about an hour. Let you know how it goes.
Neytiri's preen gland is either impacted or infected. She's pulled all the down from it and its rather red swollen and oozy. I have vet apt in the am. There are a few pin feathers coming in there too.
I was planning on using warm compress and aloe gel tonight to help her. The gel I bought also has vitamin e. is this ok??
Neytiri also had the red on her belly and legs. She's a little over a year and its currently molting out. She also had red under her wings, up her back (racing stripes), and in her flight feathers. I hope she keeps some of the red.
When I ran a forum we captured ip addresses and used a site with a honey pot that would post known ISP for spammers. That helped to really reduce the spam.
I'm totally hooked on Sarah Ayers Band. The flock likes it too

Oh and she loves birds and works at our local bird shop.

Wow! Neytiri is one today. I can't believe it. Seems like just yesterday I was hold a featherless little baby sleeping in my hand. It truly is amazing how much she has grown. And how much she has touched my heart.
I love you Neytiri forever and always.
Hubby and Neytiri don't get along either. We found that Cheetos work well. Soon as Neytiri sees hubby with a bag boom she's right there to take them from him. She's only a year old and been home 7 months. It takes time.

She gave me a heart attack today. When I came home she wasn't in her cage! The breeder door was open and no sign of her. I found her hanging out on her fav perch in the kitchen window. She was like what's all the fuss. I looked around and didn't find any messes except a couple droppings on the carpet in the dining room. Doesn't look like she chewed or got in to anything. I'm really surprised. (And very happy)
I'm glad she wasn't hurt and that she was a good girl. Hubby has since fixed the breeder door so hopefully it won't happen again.

Did make a mistake last night. Tried rolling my arm to get him to step off... Didn't work. He just reached down and pinched my arm hard to steady himself. I have a nice bruise to show for it.
He's definitely not a baby. Min 10 and possibly 25 years old. We feel he's a mix of the umbrella and the citron. He is a BIG boy though. The woman at the bird shop said he's as big as her male triton.
This is Butch.
Today he joined our flock. We aren't totally sure what he is exactly as he appears to be a hybrid cockatoo of umbrella and either a citron or sulpher crested. We also aren't sure he's really a he (getting tested to make sure). Also based on info on his ring he might be 25 years old.
We are replacing his cage and everything as it was a mess.
It's like someone flipped a switch with Neytiri. She surprised me this weekend when she popped out with a very strange "hi". It was a voice I never heard out of her before. And today I heard her practicing on the webcam. A few more phrases coming soon.
Below is the link to my you tube channel where I'm posting videos of Neytiri. There are a few funny ones of scooter pie too.

Neytiri loves ice. I couldn't believe it. She bathes in it too. It was funny the first time she grabbed a cube. She was licking it h
Then dropped it and shook her foot. Guess she learned what cold was.
