This is where we get all our nuts too! Their fruit chips are delicious also.

Tucker is adorable! Did you bring him home yet?

Buddy does this to me. Lately though he's been getting way more intense. I try to distract him when he starts getting really intense though. It sure does look like love!

Apparently there is a blue mutation which happens to be beautiful! Here is a link to see a pic...http://caiquecrazy.com/species/blue-mutation. I would love one of those, but I'll bet they would be through the roof price-wise. There was an auction in Australia...the winning bid was $20,000!!!

And they are even cuter in person! LOL I keep asking if we can get both, but I keep getting a big fat no. LOL Honestly, I think we could only get them if the breeder did a major discount for us. BHC are not as expensive as WBC, but still expensive nonetheless. And my hubby just got his new to him motorcycle, so we are down some cash.

Yay! I'm so glad that the sub rooms are open now. Here is a pic of my soon-to-be Fid. I don't know which one yet, but hopefully will know in a week or so. The baby should be coming home the end of June or the beginning of July...as long as weaning goes as planned. We are thinking Kahuna if it's a boy, and Kekoa for a girl. Or if I get really lucky and my hubby lets me get both of them....LOL

I cannot wait until my little monkey comes home so I can share his/her antics!

Moving to Hawaii - plane tips for flying with greys?

How exciting for you! I don't know about everyone else, but I sure would like pics when you get there. Yay for only 7 days quarantine. -
Amali, I am going through Scott at Old World. I went yesterday and met him and the two babies that he has available. Ah too cute! Here are a few pics... You can see the state my shoulder was in after the visit. My what strong grips they have! They were so cute! I haven't chosen one yet, that will happen after a couple of visits. He said that they should be weaned in 5 weeks. I sure would love to take both. Wonder how I can finagle that one??? Well if they can't get along, tolerance is definitely appreciated! LOL I guess we'll see.

I cannot wait! Tomorrow I get to meet my new baby. I really hope that Buddy and the baby can get along. Buddy is coming along wonderfully now. He's now watching movies with us in our room. Granted I have to sit on the floor with him because he isn't potty trained and will not go onto the new playgym yet, but at least he will hang on the floor...I just have to watch my toes. He's just doing so well, I hope that the new addition doesn't set anything back. And I've understood that BHC's sometimes do not get along with other parrots that are not the same species, but am hoping that since he is a baby, we won't have too much of a problem. Also though why I'm thinking of getting the second one too. My hubby might kill me though...or I will have no say on anything for at least a year!

My hubby finally agreed to let me get a..... Black Headed Caique! Whoot! I get to meet 2 that the breeder has Thursday. I'm crossing my fingers that one of them loves me. I'm very excited. I have done a lot of research on these parrots and talked extensively with the breeder. It took a lot of bugging my hubby....and I had to agree to let him get a motorcycle (which I would have done anyway;) ). Though him getting a motorcycle, comparing costs, I should be able to get a whole bunch more! LOL Though I am wondering if it's better to get both since they are so energetic.

Your pics are wonderful! How did you manage to have him out without a harness or anything? I'm still new to this parrot stuff. I would love to be able to take Buddy out like that...but would have to have a harness or something since he is fully flighted...but I can't tough him to put a harness on him. Oh well maybe one day.

Morning doves are just gorgeous! Their call is beautiful. My husband is trying to teach Buddy how to sound like a mourning dove.

She (or he) is beautiful! Welcome from another Texan! This is the greatest place.

Can't afford a tree stand right now, so I'm making a PVC stand or two or three. I went to HomeDepot today and got what I might need and more.Buddy is hanging on the floor trying to eat my shoes. He's a sneaky little bugger! Already got my toe once. Can we say ouch?

I do watch him very carefully. He's nipped kinda hard a few times, but not hard enough to really hurt, just like a warning. I just tell him to be nice and he gentles up nicely. Though I won't take that for granted. We are still getting to know him and what he likes and what he'll allow. Honestly, I'm going very slow because I don't want to get nipped hard enough to really hurt. Don't think I could be stoic enough not to make a scene! LOL Yes! He loves me! But he loves hubby more. I'm watching him right now, and my hubby just got home from work. He hasn't taken his eyes off of him. LOL At least I get his love when it's just me and him together. I can handle that.

I hope what you say is right, judy. I love him dearly and can't imagine that it's taken this long to have him in my life. He's amazing. He's already barking like my chihuahua (which is really kind of annoying, LOL) and he's learning new things. He whistles like a whipper will (sp?), my hubby taught him that, and is teaching him the morning dove sound. He says what's up Buddy in my voice, and says good boy in my voice. I'm waiting for "oh sh@t", because I tend to say that a lot, but haven't heard it yet...or he hasn't had need for it yet. He still won't stay in the office with me. I think he associates his smaller cage with leaving, so he doesn't like to be around it. I have plans of a playstand for the office and bedroom. Sadly, I haven't been able to let him out as much as I wanted because I had finals and stuff, but that is all over now and I can devote time to Buddy-proofing the house better, making hang-out areas for him, and just hanging with him. We've been hanging all day today. Not that he's been with me (I had to move the computer into the dining room), he's teasing the dogs through the window and tearing paper. Good thing I'm not a total stickler for clean, cause there is paper all over the dining room at this point.

He's been doing this for a few days now. Buddy will let me pet him through the cage, and sometimes a little bit when he's out...depends on his mood. Well lately he's been doing something different, haven't seen this behavior before. If I stick my fingers in for a rub, he will mouth all my fingers and rub his beak on all my fingers, at all different angles (who knew a grey could move their head round like that?). He'll even grab my fingers with a foot and continue this. It looks a little (I keep coming up with the word neurotic, but it's not that, but similar). He will even step up for me in the cage sometimes now. I wonder if he's telling me he wants to come out. I have to be careful with the big dogs, they think Buddy is a meal. Trying to find a solution to separating them when Buddy is out, but still keep them a part of activities or something. Don't know. I don't know if he's done this with my hubby. At any rate my hubby hasn't mentioned anything like this. Buddy has regurged for hubby, but I think he regurged for me today after all this behavior. I mean, there was no food in his mouth and then there was. I'm so confused.

Wingy...these are excellent snacks for ourselves too! I love em. Buddy on the other hand...not so much, but I will crumble them up, then reconstitute it and mix into something he will eat, like yams.
-
He is very cute! Love his color.

Thank you Nancy and Jayd. If he keeps hubby as his favorite, that is fine. If later he changes his mind that is fine also. We are working to keep him well-socialized. My children all talk to him. I have not had him step up for them yet, but plan to do so in the near future. My daughter has been able to pet his beak through the cage. He's a good boy and we all love him. Although this does open the door to eventually getting another CAG or TAG or maybe even a BH Caique in the future.

LOL It does sort of hurt, considering I am the one that wanted him and I do all his chores for him, and I am the one stressing over getting him on a better diet and etc. But I knew it was a possibility. All of our animals love my hubby. Even my chihuahua is a little traitor some days! LOL He does let me touch him at least and he does step up for me. Especially in the evening he is more tolerant I've found to my touching and near skritching...I've only gotten to do one good skritch. He does kiss me through the cage. Lately he's been licking my fingers a lot? Not sure what that is about. But as long as he's not biting we are all good! Regardless of who his favorite person is, I love him. I will continue to do his chores, and shower him with all the love he will allow me. Today, I must go out and de-skunk my dogs and our backyard. Our house still has hint of skunk in it. Didn't seem to bother Buddy too much, thank goodness. He was very nice and very curious when we had the plumbers clear our kitchen pipes the other day. Not shy at all...made his noises, talked a little. He's a good boy, and maybe he will change his preference. Who knows. I am searching all over for ideas for play stands to put all around the house for Buddy. Found some great hanging ones that I'd love to build, but Adam doesn't want anything hanging from the ceiling. I'll be changing that as floor space is limited. I'll prove it to him. Thanks y'all!

My hubby for sure. We got proof tonight. First, Buddy's whole attitude changes when my hubby comes home. He let's me pet his beak and feet through the cage but nothing else. He's nice to me when I feed him and clean his cage. But then my hubby gets home and he gets excited. Only word for it. He gets really animated and happy. Then today. I open the door and he comes out. I get him to step up for me so we can talk and hang, then whoosh, he's gone! He flies right toward the hubby in the kitchen trying to fix his dinner. "Head's up!" (this is the second time he's flown to him, but I thought he was startled the first time...nope) LOL I tell hubby to go ahead and hang with Buddy and I will fix dinner. When I go over to just talk to Buddy, he practically runs up his arm. Yup. He luuuuvvvvvs my hubby. My hubby can touch him, skritch him. I can only touch his beak and feet through the cage and he will step up for me. At least Buddy is nice to me and not outright mean. With his previous parronts, the woman was his fav. He wouldn't even step up for her hubby...and called him a schmuck. LOL My hubby is not sure what to do. I'm not too sure how he'll take it if Buddy shows his love with regurgitation. I don't think he'll be too impressed. LOL I'm trying to teach him, but since I'm still learning myself it is difficult. I really wish hubby would read the books...it would save a lot of time. Oh well. I have brought up getting a baby, but that is a no go for now. I'll keep working on him. LOL

That is so adorable! What a smart boy you have.
