  1. Someone should tell my girls that Nancy, lol. Cotay does the fart sound every time she sees me, not anyone else, bend over. Thank you Pat for that.
  2. Because when they free fly, you don't want them going to just anyone who is around when they are out. She has special calls for each of them she uses to call them in and if they don't hear it as her voice, they ignore it. It is pretty awesome how they are trained, I couldn't do it. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/f0nSvwtg7dm88_Tq_Wy6NB37JclVtsxQ6oSuY_HldKU=w254-h189-p-no Not sure if this will work, trying a photo storage and not sure how to post them. Fingers crossed I don't have to go in and edit this. lol Woohoo, it worked! So this picture is of 2 of the 4 scarlet babies, the last one is just hatching. The 2 mama bird has I have been told are fat and happy. It will be a few weeks before I can go back out and by then they will have grown up a lot. Man, it stinks how working gets in the way of playing!

  4. Your post came through. There are glitches in everything, just hang in there. This forum isn't too active on the weekends either, normally this is the time we are cleaning cages and playing with our birds since most of us work all week! lol I have 10 rehomes right now and they are all wonderful, I have no experience with actual babies other than the time I spend with them at a friends. I help get them use to prime time and playing. I wouldn't be much help in which direction to lead you in because I do believe that the birds choose us and that you will know when it is a good match. Out of my flock, only three really like me, the rest are the hubbys and they just use me as a taxi, maid and short order cook.
  5. So, I was sent the pictures of the last of the eggs hatching last week. They are awesome! My phone, of course, is out of memory so I can't move them to post on here. ( I can't even open them on my phone, just a small thumbnail dang it! Even out of space on photobucket. Do you think this means I take to many pictures? lol I have got to be missing something though, when I try to upload to my computer I get every picture that is on my phone which includes every book cover and every album cover from that amazon app that is preloaded and I can't remove! Last time I uploaded I had 1000 pictures and in the end over 4000 pictures went on my computer. lol) I think I will be going to Sprint today, they never are very helpful, but I keep trying!
  6. I can see it now, some poor person is doing a google search for "computer screen issue where screen goes grey" and this pops up! Hahahaha!
  7. Welcome to you both! Looking forward to hearing stories of your times with Congo.
  8. Okay, that was funny! If any of mine where that close to my laptop, I wouldn't have keys left.
  9. Ah, my babies, It is that time. I got a very sad email about our friend, his disease is progressing rapidly so he asked if we could make the move with his birds sooner than planned. I had hoped he would be able to stay at home and keep a few for company but it doesn't seem like this will be happening now. We discussed the least disruptive way to move them in and best we can do is to kick the couch to the curb, move Chacho BACK into the living room and switch the macaws and the too's. Where you Too's are has enough room to house 6 blue and gold's. Menyecca ( hooked on phonics with her name ) will also move into the living room. Then we have to think about old man, not sure if he could handle being with all the macaws so he may be in the living room to. So much for keeping our house a home, it is your bird house now. I love you all dearly, we can make this work! Thank you Koko and Chacho for letting Pat pick you up yesterday. That really meant a lot to him! And all you greys, thank you for letting me trim those needle toes of yours! Koko, I am sorry I got to close on that one tootsie of yours. I kissed it better though! I Love, Lisa
  10. Haha, my two oldest are my most active. Koko, u2, is 25 and i need to get her a young buck to keep up with her. Gus, u2, is 6 or 7 and she wears him out. I find him hiding in his cage while she is still out causing mischief! Gabby is 27, cag, and Lord help me she is into everything! I just found out the red front moving in is 60 and he hasn't slowed down as much as you would expect. Age is nothing to a bird!
  11. Ray, you know when it will be right for you but it does sound like the one you described picked you. There is enough room in your heart for another and I don't think Cricket would mind, he would want to you to be happy! Big hugs!!!
  12. Congrats and thank you! These guys are goofballs. Pat described them to a person yesterday like this: They bite hard, they play hard but most of all, they love hard! They do love having to solve things and dismantling things are just what they do. Koko picked out this metal toy, it is a body shaped thing with a big wooden head, she wedges this in the cage bars where I can not get it off yet she can go right to it and remove it in less than a second. She loves getting it stuck so she has to work to get it unstuck. Another big hit is just a water bottle, we drop in a nut and twist it then put the cap on it, for some reason that will last a few days as they work to get that nut out! We have another one for Koko that is a long piece of acrylic plastic with holes in it for all different kinds of nuts and bolts for her to remove. Gus likes fitting things into other things, he will work hours on that. We are still working to figure out what Lily likes, she is afraid of everything but the bottle/nut thing.
  13. Walk away and try again later or bring out the big guns if I am in a rush, Tostada Chip. Everyone of my guys will stop what they are doing for the treasured chip of a chip! They step up and go where I need them to go and get a bit of chip as a reward for stepping up, all along making them think this is their idea. lol
  14. I am starting to believe I am slightly insane, now whether I was this way prior to birds or because of them is up in the air still. It really isn't that bad when you get a system down, even if it only lasts for a week. lol (Just when you think you got it, one of the birds decides he or she is done with the order of things and decides it is time to change so we start back at the beginning getting a new system down. Keeps you on your toes. The hardest thing we have encountered so far is just the Too's screaming sometimes, then it is a matter of figuring out why. Lily is not happy at all and shakes and chews her nails, it is only when she is attached to me that she is comfortable. She is such a witch to the others though that we can not let them be together except when they are in their cages, then she doesn't scream loud. Since they can't be in their cages everyday, she comes out to another cage in our living room so the other two can come out and play, most of the time she is glued to me so she isn't in that cage much either, she has a corner in the kitchen on the counter where she has her own "cookbooks" to chew and play with and helps me cook. Okay the, I just convinced myself... I am insane!
  15. As I brought Bubba out to the big stand yesterday, he actually started flipping his wings and got the flight motion. If I didn't have hold of his foot I am not sure if he would have made it anywhere or crashed to the floor. I was shocked and my first thought was he was falling but then I saw where his attempt had taken my arm and realized it was a flight attempt. It is kind of exciting but then I say, OMG, he is trying to fly. Hard enough having my flying cotton balls, now a big macaw. My days are numbered here. I was told it would be soon that we will be bringing in 2 more B&G's and they are fully flighted, 1-2 months is his goal. Old man will also be coming in a few months, but he is too old and just sits there and is very quiet. I told Pat he was quiet and he reminded me that of who lives with us now, we were told at least 4 of them were unusually quiet and they are our loudest, so not to be expecting it to last.
  16. I love this story, as heart wrenching as it is. But this is exactly why we have the flock we have. I am working toward earning my certificate on becoming Felix Trained this year!
  17. Had my Monday visit. My little grey will be going home next weekend to her new family. She wouldn't let me near her, it was sad for me to not be able to hug her and tell her bye. However, it was still an exciting day. The scarlet that had 4 eggs found a few weeks ago, 2 hatched yesterday. Odd that 2 hatched in the same day but hey, when your ready to come out you do! We tried a few times to get the other 2 eggs out but they were not going to let that happen, hopefully she can get them today. Since the weather is so cold here now, most of her birds have been brought inside so we cleaned cages, that was fun, lol. She has free flight birds who are trained not to go near people and I am trying to get in their cage, haha. I just stuck to the ones I know, safer that way. I did see a grey I have not seen before, she is so light in color you could call her white. I told her that if they ever had babies, I wanted one for sure. She was the most beautiful bird I have ever seen (and I got to hold her, heehee, then she burped at me so I put her back in her cage)
  18. Welcome! I would have a mess on my hands, 2 would be tossing everything to the floor for the dogs, 1 would be chewing up the cigarettes into dust then flying off with the lighter and 1 would be watching all the others wondering why they find destruction so much fun. lol
  19. My Little Ones, After about a month of being sick, I think I am on my way back to the living. You all have been just great with me knowing I wasn't feeling good and I thank you for that. Cotay, Lily, you two tried to be good but it just isn't in your nature, it's okay. Our friend we visit on Saturdays has taken a little turn for the worse and he is looking into more full time care which means his flock could be joining us sooner than we expected. I got a few calls from him yesterday and fell a few times. The last time was later in the evening and his doors were locked so there was not anything I could do to help him. I feel he may need to go into the hospital for a bit, to be monitored and get his meds checked and back into an order. I am not sure how we will do this as we finally have some sort of a system here now getting everyone out of their cages for play times of quality. There are 4 blue and golds and one mean hawk head who hates me but is okay with daddy sort of. These guys have their time zone a bit off and sleep during the day and are out of their cages at night so we may have some noise issues for a while. Not sure where the hawk head will be yet, he is only in his cage right now at night when the macaws are out, during the day he flies free and sits on everyone's cages. That can't happen here and all of our rooms have birds in them so this is going to take some creative thinking on our part to be sure he has a place to be out in and fly. His birds are alos pretty destructive, they have never been told no and by the looks of all the wood work they should have been. They all fly too so I am worried that they won't be able to be in the living room, which means another room for them to fly in which we don't have. Why can't it be 70 degrees year round so everyone can be outside? lol We will figure it out, I promise and we won't disrupt you guys too much, I promise! I will know more today. I am glad you all are enjoying your new cage places! I love when you are happy! Ixta, Cotay, you two are such trouble makers. It is like twins gone wild. I laughed seeing Cotay sneak her little bald body into the kitchen peeking around corners and you Itxa? You are both silly! Cotay, I can't have your cage in the middle of the room so stop chewing my walls please. You have so much inside your cage to chew you really don't need to eat my walls too. I may start hanging some of your toys on the outside to give you a goal! I love you all! I Love, Lisa
  20. Oh my Gosh, Ixta learns things too quick when it is something we would rather her not learn. She has the Too cry down and now she is practicing the macaw frustrated squawk. She is such a smarty pants. Chacho is just adorable. He comes to me with a hearty laugh, gets right up to me and tells me he loves Chacho. I just love that boy! He helped, term used loosely, me change his cage papers the other evening. Probably the last time I will attempt this with him in the cage still. The door was open for him to come out, but he wanted to stay in and see what I was doing. He climbed down the side and told me he loved himself, went to the bottom and took the new papers I put in and started tearing them up and tossing them out. Such a big help he is!
  21. Haha, we tried the give them a plate thing once. Pat had Oliver standing in his salad bowl eating his mashed potatoes off his plate and I had Bongo standing in my mashed potatoes in my plate. With as many as we have, my plates are not big enough now.
  22. So far the new move has been great! Chacho gets to come out and fly everyday now and I get to go in there and spend time with him since Pat doesn't have to hide in another room! The greys, especially Bongo, have become even more vocal. I am hearing them say things we have not heard before. If only Cotay who stop asking us every time we open the back if we have to go peepee, lol. Bongo was whistling and chirping and screaming (he has a little girls movie scream he does that he picked up from Bubba) to where I had to turn the volume up on the tv to hear the news. Ixta says so much it is hard to keep up with. There are two blue and golds where she came from that are twins, Sunny and Honey and you really have to look at the leg bands to know who is who, one band is blue and one is silver. When you see these two you automatically ask them which is Sunny and which is Honey, well Ixta says that, "Are you Sunny or Honey?" She tells all the birds hello by name ( the birds where she came from not ours yet) BUT, at last, finally, the Christmas miracle, She told me hello and said my name!!!!! Not hello Pthhh, like the others but hello Lisa!!!!!!! Only once though, I am sure the others corrected her as soon as she said it but I will take it!
  23. Welcome and congrats! This is the beginning of a wonderful new time in your life! Cherish each moment, because in no time at all you will hear yourself saying over and over "stop that", "get down from there", "really? Why did you bite me", "please stop chewing my walls" and so on! Those are moments to cherish too, but not near as fun as the times when all they want to do is cuddle and let you pet them! (as I now have sheetrock exposed in my living room where Cotay decided to redecorate by removing the texture. I just grabbed a sharpie and wrote http://www.Cotayredecorating.com on it. lol I have given up on a normal living room!)
  24. I may be partial to greys but i just love those personalities of the breeders there. Just like the babies they have! I would bring them all home with me! I would like to know if any of mine came from there, but no bands or chips to find out.
