  1. I can hardly wait to cuddle and give kisses
  2. He is now about 10 weeks old and I got to talk to it on the phone today. His breeder sent me pics, I just have to share. He is so sweet looking. I am going to see him, the first weekend in April.
  3. It should be ready sometime in May, too young to test just yet.

  4. Welcome to the family of the greys. Sounds like ruffles is a great little birdie, can't wait to hear more and see more pics.
  5. Congrats and welcome. I am getting a baby sometime in May and very excited as well. I am currently owned by 2 macaws until little Valentine comes home.
  6. that is so cute. But be patient with her, she will say what she wants to, and when. some words or phases just won't appeal enough for her to repeat them. Try new ones over and over and see what she likes.
  7. Oh how cute, thank you for posting and sharing. He looks like he would love to cuddle, plus in the first picture, maybe a little sneaky.
  8. Butttaxi, For carpet fresh I use baking soda. I have hard wood floor, so I use a steamer, when its time to mop. I clean a lot with vinegar and water about half and half. My breeder told me that she uses orange cleaners on her floors and wood. I haven't yet, still researching that. I use bleach wipes in kitchen and bathroom, but don't let the birdies out until all is dry. If you take a fresh lemon and rub it over the bars of the grate, poo won't stick as bad. I clean the windows with v/w mix. I dust with a swifter. I have used a little olive oil on some of my woods that needed a shine. I am sure I left something out, but here is a little to get you started.
  9. How cute, that is one way to get those feathers wet. How did you get this bird to take to water like that?
  10. Ok that is good to know, thank you so much.
  11. Bigbird, that was just way to funny. This has been one of the best threads I have read, I do have a question, My Prince doesn't think he is a bird. He sits at the dinner table for at least 2 meals of the day. After his breakfast he goes upstairs to the bathroom, and waits for his shower. He climbs into my bed from time to time and says nite nite. Should I tell him that he is a birdie or just let him think he is human?
  12. I wonder if my Macs would go for that, it looks simple enough for me to try as well. Thanks a bunch
  13. It is that time of year. During mating season, they will tend to get a little more naughty than usual. So maybe it will pass, just about the time your ready to pull your hair out.
  14. That was touching. I often wonder about Roy (my ruby Mac). He hates men, and very scared of them. He have very few days that he will get off his cage, and step up to me. Only a few days will he let me rub him when he is in the cage. He has even been scared to spread his beautiful wings, only a slight lift from time to time. Now when he is out of the cage he is starting to exercise them a little. I wish he would understand that no one will hurt him, or scare him, or put him in a small cage ever again. If only they could talk.....
  15. My baby was hatched Feb 10, that is why I am calling him/her Valentine. So I think around 5 weeks now. I watch Marc Maron everyday, and he claim that a small cage for the first year is the best. So that they feel secure. I have heard other say cushion the bottom and keep perches low, because the tend to be clumsy. I am not sure on this. But is you look on ebay and other web sites, they should state if its for a small medium or large bird. A grey is considered to be a med. size bird. So I would go with the biggest I could afford and have room for. In my case I have 2 huge cages for the macs, I don't have a lot of room to spare.
  16. I am in Louisville, and my breeder is Robin Tipton, Cherry blossoms.
  17. As many of you know, I have 2 Macaws already, and my little CAG, will be home sometime in May. Should I put him in the same room as the Macaws? Should he be in a different room? He will becoming straight from the breeder, so she/he will be use to other birds, but as you know Prince thinks he owns me, and doesn't like to share me. Any suggestions?
  18. What mess??? I didn't see any mess. I love the cage thou. That is close to what I will be getting Valentine
  19. I put Roys water dish on the opposite side, and it helped. Prince is bad at that when he is on his gym, but not in the cage. Roy, makes a mess on purpose. He likes to sit on the door of his cage, and often will sit there and eat. I have a box under his door to catch the droppings, and if I sweep the mess up he will then lean forward to eat, and miss that box, and then laughs. Sometimes that birdie is to big for his feathered britches. The golden Corral does it for me, about once a week, and I freeze most of what I get. I put is all together make salads and put it in zip locks, toss it in the freezer. Most of the time I only use the freezer food when I am running low on the fresh or in a hurry. you can also go to farmer markets, and they will have stuff of the verge of going bad, that you can bring home and steam and freeze. I don't steam for longer than 3 or 4 minutes, because it tends to get mushy after being thawed. My Macs don't want anything that is mushy
  20. Him regurgitating is him bonding with you. He loves you enough to feed you, it is how they feed their mate. Usually they won't bite when doing this.
  21. Dave, once again you have been a huge help. I am so glad to know these things for my baby on the way. Thank you so much
  22. try feeding 2 macaws, that eat fruit and veggies everyday, plus their pellets. They only thanks you get it a bit arm, and pooped floor. God isn't it sweet to be love by a birdie. Have you ever thought of going to a restaurant, that has a salad bar or buffet. They have to throw out so much of their unused portions, but they could let you pick them up instead of them throwing them away.
  23. Well, I have to say I think I am going to try this as well. My Prince will eat anything that isn't nailed down, and sometimes.... But my Roy won't touch a veggie for nothing. I might even leave out the egg shells, and tell my son that its a cake. He loves corn bread, but its a fight to try a veggie. Thanks you sharing
