  1. OMG I would just be so lost if one of mine was lost. I have family in Florida, and I will notify ASAP. The sad part is, he could land on someone's porch, and they shew him away, because they are simply afraid of getting bit. Why would someone catch an exotic bird and then let it go???? If they had it, then they weren't afraid of it, or maybe it landed and took off again. I don't know if its true, but I have heard if you leave the door open and put a food dish by the outside of the door the bird will come back. It happened to me with a parakeet..... I don't know about a Macaw. Thank you for sharing.
  2. Well, I am so happy, and yes another one asking for pics. I have to wait until June to bring home Valentine. I can't wait. I have wanted one for years and years. Congratulations I know this will become a family member in no time. Sending kisses to shelby
  3. Prince, is number one, He doesn't like to share his mommy at all. He doesn't even like it when my son is around. He is spoiled to death. Today he was a sweet angel until my son came home from school. Then he was getting off his cage without permission. chewing on furniture ( he never does that).. Prince will be my baby, but I have to find away for him to know I have other babies that need me too. He is getting to where he doesn't want anyone else to fool with him either. He has always been a happy birdie and very friendly to everyone. I had a friend over today. He screamed and lunged at me and my friend. I really don't know what has gotten into him. He is only 9 months old.
  4. try leaving the camera in the room where he can see it, a tripod works great. Do it for about a week, so that he won't think its a predator. Then he will get use to it.
  5. I have only been on this forum for a couple of days, I don't have a gray yet either, well I do, but the breeder won't let him go until fully weaned. The more you learn before you get one, the better you will be and know what to expect. I wish you all the luck and love, don't give up. You will find the most supporting group of people here and you can feel the love as we all grow together. I firmly believe the day you feel you know all there is to know about your babies, you should look again. Mine show me more everyday.
  6. A ruby comes from a scarlet and green wing. I can see both in him. I adopted him, and he has the potential to be a very loving bird, but it will take time. He hasn't been handled much in a long time.
  7. As many of you know, I recently adopted a Ruby. Well, I have been thinking, (dangerous) I am going to be friends with this bird if its the last thing that I do. He has spent most of the day inside his cage, and door open. He comes out late this evening in hoping to get a bite of my dinner. I gave him a bit of my broccoli, he says wanna bit, so I gave him another. He says mmmm. I offered him my arm to step up and he declined. I had an extra perch near by, I said that might work. So he stepped on the perch and quickly ran to my arm. I didn't panic, but I could have crapped my pants. He just sat on my arm. I took him to another room, away from the cage and we sat in the floor he explored the room, but coming back to me without striking. I went back to the dinning room where his cage is. He showed no interest in going back. So I sat down at the table with him on my arm. I rested it on the table, He sat very still, and so did I. Then he just laid his head on my chest and I started petting him. I am so happy, and I am starting to feel that he loves me. Prince was watching every move I made with this other man, and he didn't want to do anything with me. He pouted with me, lunged at me, and wouldn't give me my nite nite kiss. What do you do with a jealous birdie?
  8. I am getting a Congo. Thank you, I think they are beautiful. I never knew how much love a bird could give until I got my macaws. My Prince b/g is my pride and joy. He cuddles more than a too. I hope to have one of them one day as well, but for now I will wait for my gray.
  9. Thank you, and I just left a post there as well. Getting a Grey, is a dream come true. I can't wait for him/her to come home. I am a stay at home mom, my husband is a truck driver, so its like being a single parent most of the time. I have plenty of time to spend with the birds.
  10. I have a b/g whose name is Prince, and I recently adopted a ruby, His name is Roy. I have only had him a couple of weeks now, and I got to cuddle him a little while this evening. I was so excited and happy. This poor birdie, hasn't been abused that I can tell, but put up as a trinket for a while, he is slowly coming around.
  11. Hello, My name is Shelly I am from Ky. I just put a deposit down, on a baby CAG. I have wanted one for years. I am currently owned by a b/g Macaw, and a Ruby Macaw. Is there a lot of difference in the care of a Gray? I am sure I will have a lot of questions before he/she arrives. I have name it Valentine, because, you guessed it.. it hatched really close to the day. I still have a child at home that is 4 years old, and I know that my babies will out live me, so I am hoping that my youngest son will grow with these birdies, and one day be his and they all just grow old together. I welcome any information and suggestions Thank you
