  1. Thank you, but she don't like her bath time at all. She screams as if I am killing her. She is convinced that I am going to drown her.
  2. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=21532 This is the most recent, this is a mad, wet birdie.
  3. Yesterday was my little girls birthday/hatch day. Where does the time go? She got some special treats, and some new toys. She had a great day. She has turned into a wonderful little girl. She is so sweet and special to us. My son and her still don't get along, but hey she is a Grey after all. So happy 1 year old my baby girl.
  4. I would have never thought of a list, even thou with my child being only 5 I would worry what was left off the list of the things that I needed to do. In a real emergency such as a fire, do you really have time to read a list?
  5. I have often wondered about this. Austin is only 5 and my plan in the beginning was to let him grow up with the birds and they could be his for life. It worry's me what if he don't want them when he is older, then what. I just though he could see what was done for them and keep it up once I am gone. I am 39 and will have a birthday soon. I worry, if I go before he is 18 I really haven't found the right person to take care of him, and the people I concerned wouldn't have a messy bird let alone 3. I thought the transition of being with Austin wouldn't be as hard as going to a stranger. Living in a trailer, I don't have a lot of room and their taxi cages are in building right outside, but I couldn't get them in a hurry, so after thinking about all this, I need to bring them in and just stack them in a corner some where I can get them. You all have done me a world of good, knowing that I am not the only one that has these thoughts
  6. This has been heavy on my mind to where I have figured some of my questions out. It is nice to know I am not the only one with Questions, that yet to have answers
  7. My neighbors are scared to death of all my birds. Austin will get the birds when I die, I hope he still loves them then as much as he does now. LOVPARROTS LOL at least they didn't say they would have new cat food.
  8. A back up plan for your birds/pets Just something I saw on the famous face book!!. Do you have a back up plan for your birds and / or other pets in case of an emergency? Personally I had thought about this, but not really thought about it. In my case, this kind of worries me, since I live a lone. If you have a fire or flood, can you get your birds to safety? If your not home is there some around that could and would get your pets out of the house? Most people are scared of the big beaks, and my cages are to big to just push out the doors, in a trailer. If you have a power outage, do you have a way to keep your birds safely warm or cool? If you have to be in the hospital for a while, do you have someone that could take care of your birds right away? I can't answer yes to any of these questions as of today, but you can bet this will change. Now that it has my attention.
  9. I know, I would like to take a trip to see my mom, and she is like I don't want all those birds here. No one to look after them, so I stay home. She says you could bring one maybe two, but not three. LOL well I couldn't do that, they are use to being together, 1 for all... all for 1.
  10. That is just horrible. Glad he's going to be ok thou. Gosh, I am just lost for words. Hopefully once he is back home he will want to eat and all will be OK.
  11. How has being owned by a parrot change you? I have read in several place that a bird has changed their lives. I know that they have mine. I use to hate bird poop on my car, seems as if I would never have poo on their until the day I washed it. I buy healthy foods now, and catch myself taking nibbles of fresh fruits and veggies while preparing their dishes. When I fix lunch and dinner, I am always thinking a head, so that the fids can be out at the dinner table. Austin as most knows has a learning disability and only said a couple of words until we got the parrots. Now he can almost have a conversation. He has learned so many words trying to get the birds to repeat him. He never showed an interest in learning until I started training and teaching the birds. He now sings to them the ABC song. Who knows what will brighten the day of even the younger lives. I have a new respect for the larger beaks. I love my fids unconditionally just the same as they love me. They can make a bad day all better. I can go on and on, but I want to hear from others.
  12. I just never thought A bird would be so picky when it came to a nut!
  13. Hello, what part of KY are you from? I am in KY as well, in Mount Sterling. Welcome to the forum, and congrats on getting your baby.
  14. Val didn't take to her toys at first either. She found a way to get to a calendar and she made bits of it. She I got her some cardboard and paper toys.
  15. bags of mixed nuts in my area, is pretty had to find. When I do find them, I may get 2 or 3 Walnuts in a bag. When I order off the internet I get a few more. A dear friend of my family sent the birdies a Christmas gift of a nice size bag of nuts with lots of Walnuts. I was tickled pink. Now Roy has become spoiled. Here is when it gets a little funny, but also a pain in my butt. Roy will say nut all day. I was thinking its because I am always saying they are nuts when they clown around. He would get rather loud about it. NUT!!! well I would ask do you want a nut? He will say NUT! I give him a nut, he would toss it, and say NUT! To make a long story short, I finally give him a walnut and he said thank you. In a tone as to say its about time mom. What in the world am I going to do when this bird runs out of Walnuts. Just glad I made a trip to sam's club and got some on clearance. He loves his Walnuts!
  16. I don't think he is testing you, as much as trying to see if he can trust you. Did you know that monkey nuts are not good for birds? They easily mold and carry a fungus that can make your bird sick or worse. Main key is to just be patient. it takes time to earn a birds trust.
  17. You would think that she was being abused. You have some bird there.
  18. wow thank you for sharing, that just put a tear or two in my eye!
  19. that was just great, I think before much longer you all will be the best of pals. I just love seeing that progress.
  20. My bucket list To have the time and money to take Austin to Disney land Want to visit NYC and see town square To get re-married to a wonderful man to own a boat and learn to water ski I could go on and on.....
  21. I would feel like I had died and gone to birdie heaven. WOW what a place. thank you for sharing.
  22. does this mean that Santa will be a chicken in his next life? that is too cute
  23. sounds to me like your are trying to rush him into liking and trusting you. You can't force yourself on him. You have to give it time and be very patient. Sit next to his cage and talk softly, read books share your food. Let it be his idea, to come to you. The more you rush, the longer it will take. Grey's are slow to take to much anything. I assume you haven't had him long. Just time and patience.
  24. that was so cute, Made me miss my quakers that I had years ago.
