  1. I actually saw that on Egan right after he ate when I went to see him a couple of weeks ago. I guess the crop does kind of poke out a bit back there. The breeder assured me that it was fine and now that he is a bit older with more feather covering, I didn't notice it at all this past Monday and she fed him while I was there.
  2. Oh no! I hope you can come back with good news. Let your neighbors, especially the children, know. It is good to have more eyes looking.
  3. Yes. His name is Egan (Pronounced EE-gahn) His parrot mom's name is Emily and his dad is Logan so I combined their names. It also is an Irish name that translates to "little bright eyed one". I think it fits. And he seems to like it!
  4. You can get one of these, put it in the middle of the room, put your desk inside, go in, close the door and give your fids the rest of the house.
  5. That's a nice office your birds have there. So good of them to let you share a tiny corner.
  6. "Look how happy he is." He really did look like he was smiling in the scene. LOL!
  7. I want to thank all of you for sharing the journey with me. It is very exciting and amazing!
  8. One more because I know how much folks love "baby eyes". (Sorry for the delay. Olive Garden was calling me.)
  9. Here is another one showing the little red peeking out on the tail: I switched the picture because I like this one better.
  10. I went for another visit today and have a couple more pictures. Egan is now 36 days old and weighed 205 grams this morning:
  11. Adorable! (And a great picture! You must have a good camera.)
  12. This is a little less than 5 minutes long. It's an extraordinary example of fine artistry but it is bird related. My little baby's breeder just sent it to me: http://www.christies.com/features/singing-bird-pistols-en-1422-3.aspx
  13. Like you said, tail feathers will grow back. He looks to be very healthy and lovely otherwise, and a great size!
  14. This is not an AG but it is a story of a parrot that had to be taken from the nest before it even hatched. It might give you some insight. I posted this previously in the Other Parrots thread but I'll post it again here for you: http://nitasnest.homestead.com/moxie.html
  15. I think the wait was worth it. Sterling Gris is a beautiful boy!
  16. I had a chair floor mat (like the kind under office chairs) that I put under the cages when they were on carpet. They are on tile now and it's as easy to clean as the chair mat.
  17. I have a 3 year old granddaughter that we believe is color blind. She knows all of her colors but mixes up red and green very regularly. Her paternal grandmother is color blind. Considering that this granddaughter was born 12 weeks early and only weighed 2 lbs. 7 ouces, we consider it lucky that this is her only "handicap".
  18. I was considering the name "gris" as well (although I saw it spelled "grys" and pronounced "grice") That was one of my favorite names. Congrats on your new baby!
  19. Females can lay eggs without being with a male but I don't think it is very common. There have been members here that have reported seeing an egg in the cage with their solitary female. The egg binding is even less common than egg laying. I think some breeds are more prone to that and the greys are not in that category.
  20. The breeder I am working with is hand feeding a little cockatiel and I LOVE watching feeding time. She is adorable! I can't wait to see yours!
  21. I'm happy to have Einstein and his momma here with us to share stories, experiences, opinions and advice. I look forward to it!
  22. This was almost 20 years ago when I read it and I'm sure it was in Parrot Talk magazine. (I subscribed for awhile.) Sorry, that was Bird Talk, not Parrot Talk.
  23. I read a story years ago and it's one reason why I've always wanted an African Grey. The writer had a Grey and a dog named Bowzer. The Grey enjoyed taunting the dog and (in the woman's voice) say, "Bowzer! Do you wanna go out? You wanna go out" and poor Bowzer would be clawing at the door to go out while the Grey laughed and laughed! He would also occassionally bark like Bowzer and laugh when Bowzer got yelled at. The owner would know she had been had! But the story that got me is when Bowzer became ill. He was dying and the owner was sitting on the floor with him with his head in her lap and crying. The Grey said, "Awwww, Bowzer bad boy?" That broke my heart and also gave a big insight into the intelligence and communication skills of these magnificent birds.
