Hahaha, thaaaaaaank you Judy I certainly don't want to do any dying! LOL BUT! The green ones have turned out really bright. I'm doing red and blue now!
-
We decided to order one from Windycity. It was a little more expensive, but with the free shipping over $45 there, we decided to get a couple of things extra, and then got 15% off our first order, plus 5% cash back. I'm a deal junkie, so I had to take it!!!! The boing should be in soon, so we'll see how it goes! Thanks for the info!!

ah! Thanks so much! I have some dying now... we'll see how they turn out!
-
Aww, lol I got it Kim!!

I've seen the "indistructabells". They are a bell in plastic, they are quite expensive, but they are supposed to last forever!

:sigh: Perhaps I'm not using enough dye? I'm going to try using the gel food coloring from the cake store, and mix enough water just to dip my pieces in. I think the liquid food coloring is just too diluted >:{

LOL!!!! Oh woooow! That's adorable! haha, Sully doesn't do that but I want him to!!!
-
Oooookay, sooo... I'm not satisfied with the brightness of color that I'm getting on wood toys. I know that there are some dyes FOR parrot toys out there... anyone have any suggestions? The whole food dye with alch. isn't working for me... Plus, I think it may be cheaper to buy dye than food coloring?

Thanks for the info, Katana! The one I want has the coating on the top of it so it touches their feet as little as possible. We're taking Sully with us to Petsmart to let him try them all out

Thanks everyone! Sadly, the only parrot store around here is one without the greatest reputation. They are reported to adopt or take in sick parrots and breed them, or sell them... So I don't go there. IF the rumors are true, I don't want to give any of our business to them. I'll check all those sites for the best boing. I was thinking it would cost between 15 & 30 for a nice one, so I guess i was right on track The pumice perch is somethin we'll get at Petsmart today. I prefer buying things online, but petsmart will do! lol, because I buy so many toy parts, make them and sell them online, I get a LOT of packages in, and Sully always likes to go through the boxes to see what toys I got. lol, poor thing never gets anything just for him, so I think I will order the boing for him online, just so he can help open the box Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I'll let ya know how he likes the BOING!

Hi everyone!! We're ready to get Sully his very first Boing, and I was wondering where the best place to get one is? I have checked ebay, and drsfostersmith.com, as well as some other places, but I wanted some opinions from y'all. Also, Pumice perches... what are your opinions on their safety? We want one to keep Sully's nails trimmed! Thanks

Oh good! It has definately increased since about three weeks ago... I love listening to it! EVEN at sunrise Thanks

Is it "normal" for a 6 month old grey to "chatter" all day long? I mean... ALLLLLL DAAAAAAAAY. He whistles a lot, but most of is just blah blah blah... so, is it normal? Sometimes he even gets screaming, and it's always AT something, like the twirly toy we made him, or oe of the bolt heads in his cage.

Hi Crystal! We also have a TAG, and he was born in April. He was flown to us as well, and I totally feel like we were meant to be! Glad you're here, and can't wait to see pictures of your TAG in your home!

Sully seems to not have any instincts about hawks. There are doves that come out to our back porch and sit right at the door and he seems more weary of them than the hawk. Maybe he thinks its another grey? I dunno.

Thanks Jayd Didn't even think about vinegar. We really rinse them well, and sit them out in the sun for a couple days to dry and all, so hopefully all the danger is gone. Vinegar sounds like a much safer and easier process, lol. Thanks

Thanks Sully didn't care for it He was too worried about chasing the mouse on the screen

So, I'm a little crazy, but I got bored and made this for Sully He turned 6 months old on the 14th :)

We have been saving bottle caps for about a year now, and we just throw them into a solution of 1 gallon of water to a 1/4c. bleach, and rinse rinse rinse! We keep a big bucket of them in the livingroom, and the birds go and get them as they please... of course then the cats knock the bucket over, and there is a million caps all over the floor...

Who needs toys when you have all these parts!!!

AH! Those are Sully's FAVORITE blocks. No matter what toy I put them on, he goes right for those! -
We have a hawk (a rather small one, but big enough to take down a sweet dove outside) that lives near our apartment building. We love ALL birds, and we find him beautiful and majestic. HOWEVER! Sully finds him abnoxious... The hawk sits outside on the apartment building opposite our back door. The hawk hasn't spotted Sully yet (atleast I don't think so bc he hasn't come over to visit)... but Sullivan has most certainly spotted him. Whenever the hawk is perched on top of the building, Sully gets so excited, and tries to talk to him through the back door (which is closed because it's coooooold!) ...but the hawk never responds Sullivan has now decided to bark at the hawk everytime he sees him (which I don't know where he got that from, Sully's never seen a dog). Is this okay? I am worried that Sully is stressing out. The hawk only makes an appearance every few days, and Sully is always running back and forth to the back door to see if he is there... I'm worried that Sully is stressed (although he's acting okay). Any ideas? We believe he is a red-shouldered or a red tailed hawk

Welcome! We rent an apartment, in a building where there are 10 other tenants. We have to conures, two love birds and Sully, our grey. Our apartment maintanance men love our birds, and we have to kind of push them out the door everytime they come to fix somthing because they love to play with our birds so much However, the conures are quite loud, but luckily we live in a building with people who work during they day, so they aren't home to hear their screams Greys are usually quite quiet (except for the jungle calls ) so Sully is kind of unknown to the other tenants. The only problem we have is with poop on the carpet. We clean it quickly, but you always miss one, or the stain is left behind, so we make sure to steam clean our carpets every couple of months. Other than that, it's no different than owning the place you live

I wish Sully wouldn't poop in his cage! That would make for a much quicker cleaning I read before getting Sully that some greys will only poop in a certain spot in their cage, or won't poop in there at all. Sully has a corner that he prefers, and of course under his favorite rope perch there is always some, but other than that he won't usually go anywhere else in his cage. However, we have progressed to taking the "morning big one" over the trashcan..i'll take it!
