  1. This winter has certainly been one for the record books!
  2. It sounds like Isaac is doing the same thing as our Moussa. Moussa is 10 1/2 months, and he's doing the same kind of experimenting with voice-like sounds. Sometimes we almost think we hear an attempt at a word, especially "Hello." I just love to listen to him experiment with sounds.
  3. It certainly sounds like Mino is flocking with some quakers and that he is managing fine outdoors. I would trust the testimony of that homeless person, as I'm very sure he knows what pigeons look like. It had occurred to me that inquiring among the homeless downtown might be useful, as they are outdoors in that area a lot.
  4. Wow. I don't know what to say. Others more knowledgeable will give good advice, I'm sure. I can only say that 3 months is actually not a very long time, as these things go. I know it feels like forever to you.
  5. Cute toy! I haven't seen one like that.
  6. Wonderful news!!! I always think about Chilly, 'cause I have a sweet little sun. Aren't they just the best?
  7. Any news??? I've really been thinking about Mino a lot, with the colder weather and all.
  8. Congratulations on your boy! You have a pretty balanced flock, genderwise. We're almost all girls, so were glad when our Mosusa turned out to be a dude.
  9. You are right. It's so like bringing home a first baby. I was also so anxious and nervous when we brought our Moussa home. I felt like this was a really significant little bit of consciousness we were taking responsibility for -- that he could have a long life and probably more than one owner, and I wanted to give him a good start. The first week or two I was so nervous with him. But he settled right in and became a member of the family. He's almost a year old now, and I can't imagine things without him. I would think that you weren't taking it seriously enough if you weren't excited and nervous.
  10. Jay, so glad to see you again. Thank you for your beautiful words .... so true. I know I have learned a lot from my birds about dealing with others with patience and acceptance.

    Cuddles

Awww. Lucy sounds like such a sweetheart. I don't have any experience with macaws -- just seen and handled them at the pet store. I do get the impression from talking to macaw owners that they are very sociable and playful and demand a lot of interaction. I have seen new macaw owners at the store carry their bird around on its back in their arm like a baby.
  12. Merry Christmas to all! And a healthy and prosperous New Year!
  13. I can see a thumbnail picture that when clicks becomes a very small image. But it's really cute!!
  14. slide I have tried To let it slide, But can't abide To be denied. pest
  15. I don't think seed mixes are bad, per se, as long as it's a high quality seed mix and fed in small amounts as a treat. Moussa gets the homemade mash, pellet, veggie, fruit, nuts, occasional hard boiled egg, occasional bit of hard yellow cheese, seed treat, and people food diet. I also feed the Harrisons (High Potency), and Moussa eats it readily.

    Eggs

I have no experience with laying Greys, but that does sound like a long time. The rule of thumb I have always heard is to let them sit the eggs until they lose interest in them, which they will after a while when they don't hatch.
  17. I agree with Barbara and Judy. That would also give your kids the opportunity to customize the pine cone for Timmy with some of his favorite treats poked into the pine cone.
  18. Have you been wanting to play?
  19. What a beautiful little bird. That was great video.
  20. Awesome! You have a lovely family.
  21. I see. I thought it was a little strange to have this come up just after the other. That is so weird they won't let the owner see the bird. That is bound to be his bird. And he had already reported it missing before the other folks found it. So bizarre for them to behave that way. So, did you have any luck following up the lead from the folks who saw the Grey near Town Lake??
  22. The Grey sighted near Town Lake is the best candidate to be Mino. However, I wanted to share this information just in from Gallery of Pets ..,.. One of their customers called, and a Grey parrot has been found in the 620 area (that's all I was told). The guy who found it can be reached at: sliwa72000@yahoo.com
  23. Missed it. I somehow had it in my head it was tonight. Grrrrrr.
