only one way to find out. i have a med that i am not using, nor will mojo ever want to use it again. i have decided that i am not going to use it. if you pm me your address, i can send it to you at no cost. it is brand new with the packaging. i just realized that even when he is in it, he won't leave it alone and i am afraid that he will chew his way out of it. so for outings i use a smal cage that he can see the world in.

at first i had a couple of sweaters that were for Mojo. then i realized that i would always be wearing the same darn clothes day in and day out. he is always flying to my shoulder if he is not right with me at all times. so now if he decides that he want to taste my shirts i say to him "be carful" and if he persists i knock him off balance. he does not really chew on my clothes so much anymore. as for the pooping, the accidents are far and few between. he is almost completely house broke. so long as i get to clean up really quickley, it never stains.

i spoke to my vet about the chip and she said that they may cause some major health issues and would not recommend it. i don't recall the issues that were brought up, but i do recall that i would never even consider it. i have place double doors all through out my house so that Mojo can't escape.

here is a foraging toy idea for you and your bird. try hanging a red pepper from the cage. before you hang it, fill it with kale, and spinach. maybe this will become a game for your little one and just maybe he will look forward to the yummy and healthy treat inside. i have hung peppers from mojos cage and he loves them!

i love reading these updates... keep them coming. I appreciate them because our dudes are so close in age and i can totally relate with what you are going through. Mojo has a very similar personality. as for the aviator harness. i have a brand new one still in the package that Mojo HATES. i am goint to sell the thing on CL or somthing. instead i use a travel cage for outings. i tried the harness but it is so stressful for my mojo that i can't bear to sacrifice the trust we have due to my impatience. i just wish that they understood what we were doing when we try to put one on.

may i suggest a veggie mash. i use a quinoa, cous-cous base and add all kinds of veggies. slightley warmed and Mojo is in heaven!

so i got mojo a harness. good side.... he gets outside. bad side.... he hates it! we bought this thing awhile ago, and he just does not like it. he will let me put it on him o.k., but he just tries to eat the darn thing when it is on. so i went and bought a cage for him to hang outside in instead of the harness. he would much rather be outside in his cage than on a harness.

so i saw issac's newest toy, and after speaking with elvenking and hearing how much he paid.... well i made a trip to the plumbing store lol...... MOJO LOVES IT....... over all cost was only a third of buying one online.

agreed with greywings. also need to mention, you want to rescue an older grey (which is greyt). however, if the other grey does not care for your yoshi (already being a feather plucker, and older) my concern would be for the health of the new grey. what if the move to a new home with another bird that he/she may not like stresses him out even more. IMO if I was going to rescue an older already feather plucking bird... i would make sure that he/she was the only bird i owned. i would hate to see greyt intentions end up in a more stressful enviroment causing reek and havock for you, yoshi, and the newest grey who in the end will prob need to find another home again. just my 2 cents.

i always enjoy the cuddles, for her to be able to enjoy them.... that is a HUGE STEP!
-
i cannont believe my eyes! i am sitting at the computer and Mojo is in a cuddley mood..... with mommy! up until now i have been the only one in Mojos life who could cuddle and give head scratches. but as i type this, he has his head all cocked sideways and is getting all the love he can from the momma! she is so excited that she has decided not to do anything but smile and laugh, and pet on the Mojo! SCORE for mommy! she now feels the same joy of Mojo that i have been feeling for the last month!

another option that i personally don't do (i have no where to put it), is to get a seperate cage for sleeping. put it in a quite room and give him ten hours in that cage. greys do require quite a bit of sleep as stephen already stated. and as for mojo, i sometimes stay up with a tv on until midnight. when this happens, i do see it in his attitude the following day.

so i was up a little early today for work. Mojo was makin his usual noises trying to get my attention. my wife and i were getting ready to go outside for a smoke. we were not in eye sight of mojo and my wife was making a phone call. while she was on the phone, mojo mimiced the phone ringing! lol we looked at each other and were trying to figure out out the phone was ringing while she was on it. it did take us a minute, but we figured it out. what a smart little bird! he new that i would come running to get the phone. this is the first time that we have heard him mimic a house hold item to a tee! my wife even turned around to answer the phone that she was already on. What noises will be next? i am too amazed by my little Mojo!

i personally would enjoy the time that you have with him. and i am speaking of the free flight. sounds to me like he has bonded to you as much (if not more) than you have bonded to him lol. mojo is not the same way. he will fly to me if he sees me leaving the room, but if we are in the same room he is quite content just hanging out. mojo is a bit more independent than i thought he would be at his age (5 months). i am not sure if this is due to his personality, or if it due to the simple fact that he is caged at times even if i am home. i have to cage him because i alternate wich animal is getting my attention. i have a german shepard mix that would love nothing more that to catch a flying meal lol. maybe one day the dog will give up.

lol way to utilize your time at work. lol
-
just curious, how big is your cage?
-
going back to the very good point of a cage. i do work and mojo gets his cage time when i am not home. however, i do not let him out of the cage all of the time when i am home. i believe that a healthy grey is one who can hang in his cage on his own, and keep himself content. hense the reason that we need to swap out new toys and such. it builds a certain independence in our birds. according to the vet the reason that our babies can eat a whole chili with out feeling the burn is because they dont produce saliva. i am not sure if or how much they can actually taste. i dont use rice, i use a qunai mix and Mojo loves it. it is actually healthier for him too. as for taste, i mix my birdie mush with cinamon, kyan pepper and he loves it. it is actually funny, cause he gets mad at the mess on his beak lol.

the both of you are about to be so amazed! i am jazzed for you! CONGRATS
