Excellent, excellent news!!! I am so happy for you, your bird and your family!!
-
Any news yet?
-
I hope you find him soon. This is everyone's worst fear. Prayers for and blessings to you and to Tealc!

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. These could not be any cuter!!!! I love the little one snoozing!!!

Poor Cocoa and poor you! Have you tried talking to the man in the nursing home? Maybe he can help you get through to his son.
-
I have never seen this brand sold in the US. Sorry, I can't help you. Maybe Dan or Dave can look at those ingredients and see if they are sufficient. To my eye, they look good.

I'm sorry to dim your enthusiasm, but I think you should look for a larger cage. The overall design is great, but for a bird spending most of the waking hours in it, it's a bit small in my opinion.

She sells training DVDs. I bought them and they are terrific. I would LOVE to see her in person!! Lucky you! Here is her website: http://www.goodbirdinc.com./

You are her dream come true!!! Congrats!!!

OK. So I found the Bionaire fan (in the home depot link above) at BJs for $15 less and got it. (I'm not sure if BJs is nationwide in the US. It's like Sams or Costco-a big discount warehouse.) If I hold a feather in front of the fan, it will pull the feather through. However, feathers in the cage don't flutter with the fan on. Not that I would expect them to. I think I will keep it, as it has to be helping with the micro-dander. Hopefully it will help my purifier filters last a little longer. This entire fan cost only $15 more than one replacement HEPA filter. That's a deal.

I had to bring in a dog trainer when I first brought Morgan home. It was awful. My 2 dogs just wouldn't stop barking at him. The trainer had me use a citronella bark collar for the dogs. Every time they barked at Morgan, they were told "that's enough" and if they didn't stop barking, on went the collar. I would keep the collar on maybe 5 min, then take it off again. The barking stopped within probably about 10 days. Also, if Morgan gets a treat, I'm careful to give the dogs a treat as well (either Zuke's or one of those baby carrots), hoping no one gets jealous. So it's great that you are thinking about this. Morgan is in a study that is off of the living room, and I have a dog gate that keeps the dogs from getting into Morgan's room. They never get closer than about 10 feet from Morgan. They want the food that makes it to the floor, but there's also the poop issue, and I don't want my dogs to get sick. When I let Morgan out to play/fly, I put the dogs in a bedroom. The dogs have learned that this is part of the routine. The next step will be to open the bedroom door and put a gate in front of it, so the dogs can see Morgan play/fly, but can't get in the living room. I haven't done this yet, because Morgan would be able to fly into the bedroom, and right now, I do not trust my dogs around Morgan. Anyway, if the dogs bark, the "that's enough" and then the citronella collar will happen again. If I ever do that, and if that works, *maybe* I'll have them all out in the room at the same time, but maybe I won't. Safety first, There is always the "jealousy" element, which is unpredictable. It's been a chore to get the dogs trained, but you can do it, if it's necessary. My brother is Morgan's breeder. He has always had dogs around his birds and has never had a problem. I just happen to have 2 dogs that are too interested in Morgan.

I got mine from Bird Paradise, but they weren't ripe, not did they ever ripen. They just withered. I'm wondering where dhorje gets ripened ones. Thanks!

Morgan stays pretty much in the upper half of his cage. I have never seen him go to the grate to play. That said, any tall cage has wasted space in it, at least for my bird. Now, turn it into a triangle instead of a rectangle, and you've lost even more space. I would personally not consider a corner cage, unless your room/space absolutely demanded it. You want to give your bird as much play space as you can.

Where do you get them? Thanks.

My sister-in-law has the same cage as luvparrots, and also likes it very much. I have a larger cage: http://www.getbirdstuff.com/getbirdstuff/4228-featherland-folding-villa-stainless-steel-bird-cages-mirror-polished-ff80808116f67bef0116f8e6664411ef-p.html that I like a lot. I work full time, and I wanted a cage with plenty of playroom, so Morgan would have plenty to do while I'm at work. Moreover, stainless steel is VERY easy to clean, which is nice if you have a larger cage. That said, I'll be paying for this cage for quite awhile yet--it isn't cheap. I'm just hoping the cage will last forever. The powdercoat cages last 6-10 years, so I have been told. Then paint chips and rust develops, and they have to be replaced. Hopefully, this cage will last for Morgan's lifetime.

Your babies are adorable!!! Sooooooooo sweet!

My cage is 42x28, and I work full time. That's a pretty big cage, but I feel it gives Morgan lots of playroom when I'm gone so much. Again, if you have space to get an even bigger cage, I would recommend that you do that.

Thanks to everyone! I will get one this weekend, and see how it goes.
-
OK. I may get one this weekend, an see how it does. I have been running a humidifier since I adopted Morgan, and started up the purifier this past weekend. It just seems that a couple of minutes/day of an exhaust in the area would take a load off of the purifier. Thanks for your thoughts. I'll post how it goes.
-
OK. I think it's so cool when he flies to my shoulder and I walk around the house with him there. I guess we'll have to stop that, too. Thanks for your help.

Does anyone know if one of those window fans that can run in the "exhaust mode" is strong enough to clear a room of dander? For example: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xn8/R-202099167/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 If not, what exhaust fan do you recommend (if any)? Also, does setting up a room to have a "breeze" in it either through exhaust or by fan put the bird at risk of getting sick? I have heard that they shouldn't be in a draft. Is that correct? Thanks!!

Morgan is fixated on my ear!!! He hasn't gotten a piece of it (yet) but I really don't like it. When we're in the living room, he often comes to sit on the back of my chair, or on my shoulder. Do I handle this by forbidding him to sit behind me or on my shoulder? I can tell, he REALLY wants a piece of my ear! It really hurts when he does it, though, like I implied, no blood yet. Thanks for your thoughts.

Great pics and story!! Thanks for sharing!!

Great question...and I have no experience on this. Hopefully, Dave or Dan will chime in here.
