  1. Well, I would describe him as a little more aggressive than usual last night. But he did come sit on my shoulder and give me a kiss. I don't think he's still mad at me. I think I just got a good scolding for my misbehavior. :-)
  2. Well, Morgan is now 14 months old, and I had to go out of town for the first time since I got him in January. So, I decided to hire a pet sitter, so the kidz, including my 2 dogs and fish, would all benefit. She came twice a day for 45min-1 hour each time to feed, care and play with them. Last night I got home, after 3 days away, and let Morgan out of his cage. He got up on top of his cage, ruffled his feathers making himself look twice as big as he is (I had never seen THAT before) and GROWLED like I had NEVER heard before! Kinda scared me as this was totally new to me, so I called my brother, Morgan's breeder. He said that Morgan was yelling at me for leaving!!!! His CAG, Luke, used to do that, too!!! Now I see where the saying, "Don't get your feathers ruffled" comes from!! This little guy never stops amazing or entertaining me!!
  3. I am so sorry to read this. Kopi, we love and miss you. Dee, you were and are a wonderful Mommie to Kopi. God bless you.

    Baby gone

So sorry to read this. Many happy memories will endure, I'm sure. Bless you and Baby.
  5. One of my dogs is particularly "yappy." I have had to call in a dog trainer, and now I say "no bark" to Frankie whenever he starts up his barking. Well, as you might guess, Morgan, my CAG, now helps me with this. If Frankie starts barking, Morgan is quick to say, "No bark!!" It's soooooooooooo cute!!

    Snake!

OMG. That is AWFUL!! I'm so glad it turned out so well, but shear fear, I'm sure. Where was Rusty during all the commotion?
  7. On the other hand, I would recommend these training DVDs: http://www.goodbirdinc.com/parrot-store.html
  8. Yes, you've picked a nice sized cage. That is excellent. Room for lots of toys and play! Good choice!
  9. So sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is so hard. Condolences to you.

    jackson

Wow! I wanna go play on Jackson's cage! It looks terrific!!
  12. I bought these videos, which are a great start http://www.goodbirdinc.com/parrot-store.html I would love to see this trainer in person, and she does travel around the world giving workshops.
  13. One more thing--My bird gets about a 1/2 cup of seeds through out a week. I just sprinkle a few seeds into the pellets. I understand the seeds have very little nutritional value--kind of like giving a child a candy bar. They love them, but they are not particularly good for them.
  14. I give my parrot his fruits and veggies in the morning. Each day, he gets a different mix of veggies, though he always gets a few grapes, a few raspberries and some pine nuts in the mix (they are his favorites.) They are just like us, in that they like variety in their meals. Serve some veggies whole one day, and chopped the next, then maybe lightly steamed (but cooled-don't give your bird hot food) the next. I usually vary between kale, broccoli, squash, carrots, a variety of peppers, cauliflower, brussel sprouts and green beans. He'll get 4-6 of these veggies in some form daily, along with the fruit and nuts mentioned above. In addition, my bird always has pellets available, as well as fresh water. If your bird is not used to eating veggies/fruits, give her some time to get used to them. Just continue to vary them, and watch to see what your bird likes. You can see best what she likes by seeing what has been chewed then dropped to the bottom of the cage, or by what is just plain "missing" from her bowl. I also have noticed that by bird's tastes have changed over time. He used to totally ignore squash, and now he loves it. So just because she doesn't eat something at first, maybe she will in a few weeks. Also, one day Morgan loves brussel sprouts, and the next day he doesn't touch them. Again, just like us, they pick and chose. There are some fruits and vegetables that are toxic to birds, so make sure you read those lists.
  15. LOL. Funny! You could make a reality show out of these escapades!
  16. Since the winter has passed,my baby Morgan has just started hearing other birds outside. He now can sound like a LOT of different birds! It's really cute. To my ear, that 2nd sound sounds like a starter pilot/handheld lighter trying to ignite.
  17. Parrots have been kept as pets for 4000 years. So it is nothing new that you or I have a pet parrot. However, we do need to be proactive today about HOW they are captured/transported/bred, etc., as there are scoundrels in the world who can be inhumane.
  18. Yeah, I think you should name her "Aoodia" (feminine form of Aoodi). and call her Aoodi for short..... ;-)
  19. Is Aoodie home yet? Hope the both of you are reunited and well, or at least on the road to healing!! Please let us know! Thinking about you, Aoodi!!
  20. I admire your choice, here. Emma also flew for help when she was done with her escapade. She didn't have to go to the boy's shoulder, but she chose to. Believe me, I think a LOT of us have learned from Emma's story. And I, for one, think it's great that you are keeping her flighted.
  21. Awwwww.She's sooooo sweet. It is so good to see her back at home with you and all her toys.
  22. Happy Birthday, Judy!! Morgan and I so appreciate you!!! Hope you have a grand day!
