  1. Happy till the end I hope we could all have that fortune, loosing her is so difficult but you have a small green angel watching over you now.
  2. Oi la Fi Fi, one confidant looking grey girl. Welcome to you both.
  3. Adorable! That must have been your stress relief for the week.
  4. An opportunity for celebration indeed! Congrats!
  5. Bird fair humor there Sterling, always love to look I get more ideas of foraging opportunities. My birds are jealous they saw the loot. If a big white Too shows up at your door his name is Harry Too.
  6. Kita may figure it out, welcome and I got my first Grey when she was 21 yrs old too. Miss Pookie is my Avatar.
  7. This quote from your post I find disturbing-resentment should have no place in your relationship with him, none at all. It can be a nervous habit when feeling stress from anything new furniture, behaviors or your body language , music who knows? No way to really get inside his head we can only guess. He feels the need to pluck a little that is a sign to you that he is a little unsettled by what ever-could be hormones, something scared him, a new thing or activity a toy a sound outside. Just let it flow past you and don't resent that will eat you up and create an anger he will feel neither of you will prosper that way. By the way he feels no need to keep up appearances or with the Jones's. "How do I not resent him while he does such a senseless act to himself. He is happy...acts completely normal....and just has no desire to keep himself up."
  8. Try to just relax and not stress it will help him a lot.
  9. Try this real Coconut yogurt lower calorie and non dairy site has coupons too, we use the milk form at home. [h=3]So Delicious® Dairy Free - SoDeliciousDairyFree.com‎[/h]Adwww.sodeliciousdairyfree.com/Cultured‎
  10. Love the Capes, Jardines and Sennegals but those little Crimson Belly's can be such aggressive little monsters. I have more fear for those determined little beaks than I do for the Macaws and Cockatoos I work with at the Sanctuary.
  11. You might want to try just running some shallow water into the bath tub and put her toys in there with her while running the vacuum. Running the vacuum cleaner seems to inspire bathing behavior in many birds, might be worth a try. Or place a wide container of shallow water on her cage floor for the same result.
  12. Yes we do have to keep in mind they have those built in survival instincts to keep them alive as they are a prey animal rather than a predator. Some times even though they are so very smart and often read our body language better than we can it is possible they can misinterpret our actions as aggressive or scary if we move quickly or unexpectedly. Just one more thing to add to the list of possibilities. New day new chances to move past the bite and rebuild that trust between you.
  13. Welcome to you and JB. Have a look around you will find some great information and fun ideas for food and toys to keep your new Grey friend safe, happy and entertained.

  15. I would wait until the weekend just to be sure.
  16. I have done the reverse and told our birds "good puppy" must be loosing it.
  17. From what I know by researching the subject there are no necessary nutrients for birds in any onion, garlic or leeks. I do think it takes more than just a little ingested to kill a parrot but why take chances? When introducing new herbs or foods to any parrot I always suggest we error on the side of caution. Although some parrot species may be able to consume small amounts of fresh or powdered garlic without ill effects, I think running the risk of causing hemolytic anemia is too great a danger, especially when there are safer, gentler natural alternatives. Years ago when I interviewed Dr Greg Harrison (Harrison’s Bird Diets) he explained that he and many of his colleagues would not do feeding trials on birds to test a food, chemical or substance they knew or suspected would cause harm. I applaud Dr Harrison’s attitude as I think we need to replace traditional feeding trials with a more humane, long term system, of feeding studies. Avian veterinarians have repeatedly stated that malnutrition is the leading cause of illness, disease and early death of birds. If nutrients are missing from a bird’s diet, this results in either malnutrition or undernutrition.Patricia Macwhirter DVM, (in Avian Medicine: Principles and Application) malnutrition or undernutrition can cause a specific health related, or behavior related, problem or it can suppress a bird’s immune system. When the immune system has been suppressed the body becomes vulnerable to infection from a variety of pathogens: bacteria, fungus, virus or parasites.
  18. Who suggested Garlic? It is a natural antibiotic but so is oil of Oregano.

Like we all need justification? >:> LOL
  20. Every one calm down, egg laying is a very natural part of being a female bird. As long as the diet is good, they get adequate Sunlight and you leave the eggs alone until they loose interest all should be fine. Your bird can read your stress so chill out and just allow her to be a bird. Intervention is only needed in rare instances and then you provide heat and call your Vet.
  21. Funny thought, humor does help us navigate our way through all the stress they give us. Hydro therapy also aids in keeping the wound clean of debris like dead skin and the moisture helps with the flexibility of the healing site as well.
  22. He is a very handsome grey you seem to have a wonderful new beginning.
  23. Inara had some great advice to give you a starting place with this frightened guy. If you do get another bird they may or may not be friends no way to tell in advance. I live with 4 Greys and they are not good together. I can have 2 of them out at the same time with our Elanora Cockatoo and they ignore each other. The other 2 Greys have to have only time as they are too aggressive with the other birds and they are not to be trusted together either. Other people have birds who do get along, most of my flock are all rehomes and rescues so have come with their own experiences and challenges.
  24. Welcome and ask away, hoping for pictures of Max.
