  1. I suggest calling the local Vet clinics and Pet shops as well. My thoughts are with you both and prayers for a safe return. Do call him and place his cage outside where he can see it in a high place if possible. Could some one have seen him on the rail and taken him?
  2. Welcome, it sounds like you are off to a great beginning with her.
  3. If the birds are in such sad shape perhaps she is not in the best of shape either whether mentally or physically it sounds like some thing is out of balance. My heart goes out to the naked Scarlet wish I could help or magically make room.
  4. It sounds like Sunny learned from Scooby doo how cute! I don't know if they are bonding but they are very funny and entertaining.
  5. No matter what you do to ensure the safety of any one bird bad things can happen in or out of a home, rescue or sanctuary. Sanctuary is what I spend my time supporting but I have discovered after many years of doing so that not all birds adapt back to being a bird and require more people time than is manageable in a sanctuary situation with so many other birds to care for properly they can languish. Most places that adopt out take great pains to educate, investigate and follow up. What ever decisions we make for the birds affects them for life as most birds are not given much choice in the matter. Success is what all of us aim for but tragedies can happen even the the best of places-a damaged toy or boing, a leg band getting caught, another bird causing injury or death, vandalism, fire, flood, Storm damage and yes dreadful people you can only try to keep them safe and make good choices for them. This bird has scissor beak which needs regular shaping and perhaps other issues that do not show so readily. We have a Mealy much like that at the sanctuary it came in with advanced fungal and bacterial infections her beak will never be normal but with trims she can eat well. She lost her wings when the circulation to them failed and they had to be surgically removed to save her life. Her feathers are always a mess even though she is in a double Macaw cage. She is happy and loved in Sanctuary care but looks just as bedraggled as the one in the pictures.
  6. My name is " " and I sniff my birds...
  7. This Morning from the next room over Hubby repeated this conversation between the flock members I wanted to share with you. "Knock knock" "Who's there" "I don't know" "Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" "Want an apple?? "No, I don't think so." whistles..clicks, beeps..meow, dog barking "Widget!, Outside!" "Ring the bell!""

  9. Welcome to you both. Glad to hear the aggression has lessened and you have an interesting life style for a Grey. 18. I think you are each others grain of sand and you are both creating pearls of wisdom patience and progress. Fred fred always looks quite innocent when you find him chewing the woodwork, he has the "who me" attitude.
  19. Found this article it seems to explain a great deal. Don't know if it helps Lillys' situation but it is worth the read. http://www.forthebirdsdvm.com/pages/hormonal-behavior-in-pet-birds-pet-bird-behaviors-unraveled
  20. Some fish have parasites you would not want to give your bird live fish for this reason. Cooked Salmon or Tuna is safe if you want to give a little fish meat. I was thinking sprouted grains, legumes and nuts as live food and those are safe even excellent.
  21. Somehow now it all makes sense.
  22. My flock have all been in to musical cages lately. Never know who ends up in which cage when it's bed time for birdies.
  23. Try giving her a good run around flighted or on the floor then a thorugh soaking just prior to getting dinner started so she hopefully will work on preening dry while you "attempt" to get a start on dinner prep or other household chores.
  24. Lavender is useful in promoting calmness the intention may be assisting nervous birds feel safer. hey take in birds from a "humane" confiscation whether from a bad situation or not the stress of a sudden move or their past treatment can make a bird feel very stressed.
