  1. These little Grey Aliens are taking over, is it mind control or just good training?
  2. LOL yes we have some Welsh heritage mixes into our mash up genetics. Our eldest child looks Irish, next one looks Welsh, then one who looks Scotts and the last one had those long bones from the viking invaders. I think most of us a mutts these days to some degree or other.
  3. The best news possible, she was so very lucky. This is a great reminder to be cautious with our doors and windows and to not go outside with out a good safe harness that has been safety checked. Hopefully some one who lurks or a regular member will come away from this with a better understanding of quickly your bird can disappear, even with clipped wings. Thank full for the safe return.
  4. How about only the year and leave off the month and day? Then no reminders-he he.
  5. #3 has a certain flair that appeals to me. Your Grey has just landed on the dinner table and casually walked through your mashed potatoes stopping briefly for a free sample. The guest you have over for dinner look rather shocked. How do you handle this little social glitch? #1-Pretend it never happened. (difficult as he is wiping his beak on someones sleeve) #2-Get him his own plate and apologize for missing it earlier. #3-Rush him off the table and back into that cage you thought you had closed. #4-Get the video camera and film a recreation for TV showing or Utube.
  6. What about all those Dragons he slew?
  7. I am so sad and too far away to help look it is frustrating. Wishing for a safe return and keeping Yoshi in my thoughts.
  8. answer #1 it's personal and I won't catch a chill here unless the A/C is set too low. You find an expensive saphire ring in your Greys cage and you don't know where he/she got it. What do you do? 1.Try to question your Grey? 2.Interview your latest guests about any lost jewelery? 3.Sell it to buy more toys for your bird (after all it isn't safe for him/her to play with)?
  9. Do enjoy and go slowly they do not like to be rushed. You sound as if you have some bird interaction experience can you tell us about the rest of your flock please? It may help guide you down the right path with your new Grey bird. Looking forward to pictures and stories of Kihei.
  10. Do listen for him calling as dusk approaches, can you get up high somewhere close and have a good look with binoculars? Keep calling and ask the local children to keep a look out they do not miss much and are likely to have noticed something or some one with a new bird.
  11. I also use a thick layer of newspaper and remove the soiled layers as needed during the day. One of the Greys always tears hers into confetti but that keeps her busy and happy so I just sweep up what falls out. I put old towels on the floor around the cages to catch the droppings when they are playing outside the cages. Then just pick up and throw into the laundry and replace with clean ones, it saves on mopping.
  12. The important part is to use a non fortified oatmeal to avoid getting too much iron in their diet.
  13. Cute photos those Zons are such appreciators of fine dining.
  14. Nice to meet you both I hope you feel at home with us all.
  15. This makes it a lovely Monday! Good work and so good to hear.
  16. Welcome and glad you found us. I love Ridgebacks, until Greymatter can answer for herself they are a large strong reddish tan colored dog with a ridge of hair that stands up due to the follicles pointing the opposite direction from the rest of the coat. They are protective of their people and were developed to protect livestock and people from Lions in South Africa. A very handsome breed.
  17. You are being caring and careful both very good ideas when birds are involved. Do keep them in until this volcanic dust has settled down.
  18. Welcome aboard nice to hear you have joined our ranks with an experienced bird. Brutus will have you trained in no time.
  19. Not yet but that is a great idea! We are fortunate enough to have a Vet who will work with us on that front. (We used to work together in our past jobs)
  20. Give yourself a gold starr Jilly and Harvey gets some back yard time as his reward. Good on you.
  21. They are in fine feather you are doing some thing right! Thanks you for the photos.
  22. Ahh he is growing up, perhaps you can put it in his baby book?
