  1. Do you have chimney? Starlings are famous for entering ala Santa Claus. Starlings are much smaller than Greys but it pays to be safe.
  2. Welcome to our world, Vinnie will be a joy to watch as he grows up. Appreciate the photos and that is a good looking mantlepiece as well!
  3. You can do it and we Fems will talk you through it, get your Grey to assist with the multitasking, it can be fun chopping veggies and wiping gooey fingers with a feathered supervisor .
  4. Varies from day to day and what fresh ingredients are available. This morning a good seed mix with chopped fresh Papya with seeds, some yellow Mango, chopped baby Spinach, finely diced green Apple, some English Peas, pieces of Walnut and some shredded unsweetened Coconut topped with a Blackberry.
  5. Thank you for the information I will share it with my friends who live there.
  6. Oh my poor UmbieToo and poor terrified puppy, looks like he thinks the Aliens have landed.
  7. Never give up try to get a look next time you get a report on her location.
  8. Congratulations and thank you for your dedication.
  9. Thank you Chelsea it would be noisy too! If any of your dogs hate bath day they might feel sorry for miss Sophie here. #
  10. What doggy fun - I will show off our two girls Zoe and Sophie in the window by our front door. busy keeping an eye on the neighborhood.
  11. So many factors in play here. The stress of the divorce, a new apartment, a new cage and a new family structure, perhaps even a different schedule. It does take Greys longer to feel safe and make adjustment to new places longer than any of the other species I am familiar with. Patience is the key here-move slowly talk softly, stop and greet him as you pass by occasionally giving him a small treat. No pressure to step up just let him readjust that mental space to include you as flock again. If he harbored a fear or dislike of your Dad he may have transferred that to you as the male in the household and it will take time and consistent interactions to convince him you are safe and associate you with good things only.
  12. Welcome and nice to hear about your feathered friends, could you share some photos of them with us?
  13. With Pookie it is my finger nails she is always trying to trim them back to the quick, eek.
  14. Not likely to have been the Graham Cracker but I also support the idea of having your Vet perform the Necropsy then you will know what went wrong. Did you just find him dead or did you find him before that? What a tough day to face sorry to hear of your loss.
  15. Welcome to our Grey colored portion of the e-verse.
  16. Nocturnal Grey sounds, he know sleep deprivation can gain him the upper hand. You will end up so befuddled he can get whet ever he likes out of you.

    Biting!

To avoid the bite is the best solution, that way you are not reinforcing the biting behavior. giving him the space he needs to feels safe is the best option. He will eventually adapt and you can both move forward. The others are right in alowing your boy a choice to come out on his own. They have so few choices in life it is up to us to give them a few, good for mental health.
  18. Does distinguished mean you will have "grey"ing temples?
  19. I spray them and all fruits and veggies with hydrogen peroxide let them sit a few minutes then rinse well the I use a little vinegar water for the final scrub and rinse with clear water. This removes any insecticide as well as the usual dirt and bacterial nasties.
  20. Keep looking and engage the entire neighborhood on your search, everyone from the kids to the oldsters.
  21. My advice is to spend some time with both birds and see if either of them chooses you. That would be the starting point on which to build a relationship. I know a Timneh that was wild caught and his family and their other Grey had no luck with him, panicked at their approach and struggles to get away-hissing and throwing himself about. Now he is in a different situation where he has plenty of room and two other Greys and after several months he now asks to have his head scratched, no longer thrashes and panics at the approach of humans. He is so confident that he bullies the other two Congo's a bit. The first bird sounds more tempting but it does depend a great deal on how the bird reacts to you. Like jacarual mentioned above when the Amazon found the right home with the right people it made all of the difference in the world for that bird. Do listen to the other Jill she is right in having you asses what you are looking for ion a Grey. All the best and take your time you will know which bird is right when the bird reacts favorably to you.
