Your birds have a fabulous play room and the best toys ever. They are lucky to have a mom who is creative and generous to them. It looks like a fun place.
-
Aww, Ben is lovely. Good that you had some time off work to let her out so much Bernie. She looks like she is enjoying your company, flash camera and all.

Here I was happily reading the new posts, loving the new pictures of everyone's other pets... and then Dan sneaks in those woman comments. Dan Dan Dan..... Oh Dan. Don't forget diabolical and vengeful. Dayo's little pinch on your neck isn't anything next to what we can come up with to live up to your heckling.

Congratulations to your family on the new additions. Lyla Grace is beautiful and she brings a glow to everyone who gets photographed with her. How lucky you are to greet a new grandbaby and get news of an engagement too. Your holiday season is off to a beaming start.

It was fabulous to have the whole family together once again. This is the first time for both our girls to be home to meet Juno. They are disappointed he didn't make fast friends, but he is still getting acclimated and was fun with them, just not affectionate as he has gotten to be with mom and dad.

Hooray Bernie! You had a successful day with your boat and brought it home while it is still in working order. Yah Bernie! I will be your cheerleader babe.

The lot of you are far ahead of me. The truckload of trees did not come in as planned for Friday, or Saturday so we still have no tree. Have barely started the shopping and I am usually one who likes to be finished by now. I guess there are better things to do when we are enjoying the new baby of the house.... uh oh, I do have his shopping done, hope the rest don't get too envious of him.

All is well at our house, we still have kids home from college and lots going on. Juno is a right rascal. He has already discovered that my feet are sensitive and no matter how many layers of fleece I try to hide them under, he gets right to a toe and as easy as it is to ward off a shout when he pinches a finger, the toes get a reaction and he loves it. He also decided he likes the head rubs and scratches and now he not only sits still, he does the finger nudge if I stop, and he actively comes looking for a scratch and warm snuggle. The waiting for it to be his decision was good advice, he gets more confident and interactive every day.

Ah to love and be loved, no luckier birds in all the world. I believe they do understand the context and use our language to convey back to us what they have learned from us.

A nut roast for vegetarians? And Jill to be the honored nut? Now that is a picture. We struck out to find a turkey buffet... four hours later settled for an alternative, LOL. You can bet my family will campaign for mom to get back to the kitchen next year. Had to beat poor ole Jill's soggy sandwich though. Jill, you need to fire your cook. Hmmm... come to think of it, maybe that is what happened at our house this year. LOL.

Glad to hear Acapella is getting past the flu and is one of the superimmune. I haven't been on the list of those permitted to get the flu shot yet. Darn that Jill getting ahead of me, now I will have to scratch her name off my list of who I plan to visit if I contract the swine flu.

This does sound like a good book to read. I like to think our greys chose us because they love the battle of the wits and didn't want any unarmed opponents. That does seem to the be the glue that keeps this forum interesting and fun.

All is well in F.A.R.T. land. Since none of us want Jill to have her wine all alone, I'll start my day with some kahlua in my coffee and see where I can go from here. Besides, I got up at four to go to the Black Friday sale and help my husband out by letting him pay that special husband tax so everyone is jolly at my house. This was my first ever foray into the shopping frenzy of Black Friday. Alas, I was only going to Sears for household appliances so that really doesn't count.

Ha ha, I can't let Judy get all the credit, I just don't have any snappy comebacks today, have used them all up on my family. And, who would have guessed Bernie would be the one coming in being the bloke making nice? Jill you would have to look really long and hard to find nicer new friends than Judy or me.

Talk sweet to Maggie, maybe she will let you back into the kitchen, it is a happenin' place. Tell her you have to test all the food for the birds to make sure it is healthy and tasty.
-
Glad to know you are mostly feeling better and can be reunitied with Darwin. It was very thoughtful of you to guard her health. She will make up for lost time with her peeboos and cuddles.

It is good to hear that you are working so hard with Paco and that you have had a good health confirmation. It made me laugh to think of the vet having to make up with kisses. I would love to have told the insensitive dog owner... well, the parrot would like to see your ear, how about if you stick it in his cage. LOL. Thanks for the update and good news about Paco.

It is good to know Doc has worked through his grumpy time and is back to being social. It helps to know others are going through these phases so we don't take it so personally. When you can look for something that might be causing it, then wait it out, it is worth it when he comes running in for your attention once again. Thanks for letting us know that Doc is enjoying your companionship again.

Our baby was five and a half months old when he came home. He was fine while I put dishes and toys into his cage but he wanted nothing to do with me. He had his first vet visit at the end of week one and was put on antibiotics when the cultures came back a few days later. This forced the issue for us and I had to hold him to get his meds in. It will take yours some time to adjust to leaving everything familiar, routine at the breeder etc. The happy news is that by giving Juno the space and offering him to step up he has come around after a short time so now he chortles and tweets when he sees me coming. If you try to make every encounter pleasant for him he will soon learn you love him and are taking good care of him and he will come to you on his terms. I was really nervous after he drew blood on one bite after his meds, but he quickly forgave me for pushing him too fast. Talk gently to him, see if you can feed him tidbits of veggies, cooked sweet potato etc. from your hand so he associates your hands with good things. Be patient with him and he will come around in a couple of weeks. It was hard to feel helpless to console him at first, but it was worth it to wait for him to show readiness for coming out of his cage etc. He still doesn't feel safe in his big cage, so I am letting him spend most of his time in the travel cage and taking one big change at a time.

Just so our international members don't fantasize about the jolly times and good food, I am having a non-traditional Thanksgiving for the first time ever. My girls are home for a short break, one of them is injured and has had me being a chauffeur back and forth to college, close to a hundred mile, round trip every day. That combined with doctor appts, vet appts, an extra dog in the house for a visit and just plain having fun with a new baby we have opted to go to a turkey buffet this afternoon.

Jill, I am so sorry, I promise I didn't intend to be cutting. In a quick fly-by posting, I thought you were being our funny silly Jill and jumped in to stir the pot with my crooked wicked stick. I do scroll over everyone else's about me sections just to get ideas of what our friends are like. My trouble is that I can't summarize and get a great long dissertation started and then go back to make it short and sweet.

At first I was thinking Jake was an instigator.. then realized, hey that is Jake's cage, no wonder he is pestering Dayo. Jake certainly holds his own ground and has a lot of courage and tenacity. Dayo is a character too, of course someone else's toys look more inviting.
-
Yoshi is just adorable. Your pictures made me wish and visualize Juno coming in for a cuddle... and then he did! The cuddly little Yoshi is a classic. May the two of you get ever closer and enjoy years of this relationship.
-
Or she could be like Dayo and Jake, sweet talking, offering him little tidbits to draw him ever closer, within her reach. It is sweet that he is climbing around exploring and tidying up the place in the process.
-
I like that Dayo was close, but not too close. He reacted when the furby chattered, but he doesn't seem afraid. It will be interesting to see if he plays with it or just decides to knock the stuffin' out of it some day. In the coming weeks I'll have to look for the box in the attic with my.... ahem, my kid's furbies. Way to go Dayo and Dan.
