Me too! Patiently waiting. I have been ironing quilt fabric and for a minute I thought it was Friday! Just wishful thinking of course. It is hard to believe that next week I will awaken to sounds of grey! I have food made up in the freezer, and don't know what else to do to get ready, I have been ready since last July. What will be will be and the waiting will make it sweeter.

Yoshi talking (in bird/gremlin language)

I could only get the first video too. You may say it is not so exciting because you get to have her with you all the time. Java is in the room with me and she would vote for number one excitement for that video. She is calling out to Yoshi and whistling and hooting now. I will have to keep replaying it for her. -
Listening to Gabi is as much fun as watching her. She is so playful and outgoing, and of course beautiful. It has been such a thrill to see her from the egg to coming into her own. What a way to start life, totally adored with lots of fans watching her every success. Your web cams and videos have been such a source of encouragement. Thanks for being there for us.

Waiting isn't easy. Hawkins will be with you soon and it all be worth it. You will get used to waking up every morning and counting the days to his arrival that one day you will wake up, start to count and instead jump up to go check on him.

Yoshi is growing up! Waiting for words...
katana600 replied to jessdecutie18's topic in The GREY Lounge
It is interesting how our birds are similar but so unique and individual. I don't have the bird experience but watching my two daughters taught me a lot. One had a huge vocabulary at one year of age, but didn't walk until she was sixteen months. The other sat up, crawled and walked within a week of each other at eight months but didn't talk until much later. Each of our greys are so special and can communicate without words and when they see that speaking gets you to sit up and take notice, they will really have your heart in their little talon. -
It is wonderful that you were there to share the moment when Mojo had the chance to be with you and chose her this time. That has to be such a testament to her patience to wait for Mojo to come to her and for you to be the cheerleader for their big cuddlefest. Way to go.

It is such a delight to be along with you as you discover the wonderful things about Isaac. Love is such a powerful emotion and these greys seem to bring out the best in us, deeper feelings than we could imagine without them. There is no doubt in my mind that you are inspiring him as much as the other way around.

Pebbles is a charmer to be sure. Glad you are getting along fine and appreciate you sharing your journey with us. I love her name and look forward to learning more about her personality as she grows up with you.

Tomorrow is our big day! He is blissfully unaware of a big change coming in his life while I am beyond excited and a little nervous. It is so different this time because I haven't been buying toys and treats with his name on them, but once he gets here he has plenty to play with when he is ready. Omigosh, we are going to have a new little guy in the house again.

It sounded like someone said "Maggie" in reponse to your asking her a question. The sounds in the background sound like a happy jungle. I loved all the squeaks and beeps and whistles too.

The day isn't nearly as important as the celebration and reflection on how Dixie has changed your lives for the better. She is a lucky girl and brings so much joy to help you cope with the serious parts of life that take so much of your energy. Every laugh and every amazing feat lift you up and see life from her perspective. Happy Bird-day to Dixie.

I certainly can find a bright side. Since I fell in love with the outer most ring of color, I was trying to figure out how to change the inside and get a balance of color. The first time I was putting it into the computer I was learning new software and focused on the instruction manual, this time I can be more free to change the center medallion, so all is not lost, just slowed down a bit. That can be a good thing. Only four more days to wait, but who's counting?

While I love hearing all about Argyle and Beau, this is a special treat. Where would we all be without our forum friends helping us to understand and cope with birds in our lives. Well done.

Those are beautiful photos. What a gorgeous bird to see... just not dipping into your koi pond. It would difficult not to be in awe of the sighting and more difficult to let it get away with raiding your pond. Thanks for sharing your wonderous experience, I just hope your next sighting is off site.

Would you folks believe I have been following the forum for eight months and have only had an African Grey in my home for six weeks? I really did want to bring Kopi home from the beginning but struggled with doing the right thing, understanding full well what we are getting into and while there are going to be hard parts, it will be worth it in the long run. I think one of the hardest parts has been the stash of toys I was stockpiling for Juno and thinking it was depriving some other bird. I think it is fitting to give them to his brother. Since he is a little older and I never have spent time with him, we are going to work for three days over the weekend to help him get to know me in the least stressful turnover. We are starting fresh and he will be number one in my life. I guess I just had to wait until I was absolutely sure I could give my whole heart to him and not just house so he has a place to live. We are ready for an adventure!

Yoshi's color and shape is just beautiful. This is the first I have noticed the little sprinkles of red feathers on her bottomside. She is a darling little friend and so considerate too.

It is amazing that his appetite is still good and he eats as often as he does. You must be keeping his spirits up to have him trying so hard. So sorry to hear his weight is still so low and that it seems to have happened over a relatively short period of time. I wish we could have some answers and help for Spock. He is a favorite here on the forums and I'm sure in your home as well.

You could put leather strips through the holes, knot them and put beads on them. If you drill a hole in the handle end, you could hang it from another leather strip.

This is yet another of the range of beautiful amazons. It is amazing there are so many subspecies and such an array of color. If one of these "specimens" was a companion of mine, I don't think I could surrender it to a breeding program though. That would be a wrenching decision. Thanks for keeping us up to date on this fascinating introduction to the many Amazons.

I finally ordered black fabric online. It arrived and has been washed. But now, I lost everything on my computer last week to another virus and lost the pictures and the computer generated patterns, so I am going to get started this week anyway and just wing it. Kopi will be my little muse and encouragement. It means a lot to me to contribute to research and even moreso now that it will impact us directly though this little guy.

Lyn, that is special. Your robins are a little smaller and a bit different than the ones we see here. I can not believe how patient and still you could stand. David's grandfather used to stand real still while he was feeding hummingbirds and they would land on his finger while they ate from the feeder.

After much consideration our family is going to bring Juno's little brother home. He is nine months old and has had some health issues, but the way I look at it, he needs a home and we need him in our life just as much. My whole family is on board and I just feel so lucky to get a second chance that I know regardless of what comes, we can handle it together. Every time I talk on the phone and hear him in the background, it makes me joyful. It will only be one more week until he comes home!

I think if I looked out my window I would see a glow coming from your house for all the smiles and laughs you generate.

It makes me happy to hear your surprise and delight at how much you have given your heart and home over to Isaac. The best thing here on the forum is the number of people who have experienced what you are sharing with him. You will sort out the time-share and he will entertain himself when he needs to but that reunion when you walk into the house will always be the best part of your day.

Gosh I am glad this was brought up again, I don't know how I missed it the firt time. Well done.
