Oh the many faces of Harvey. It is way funnier when it is happening to someone else trying to chase down their bird. It was vexing when Java was going through this phase and now she is an angel at bed time and asks to go night night with her evening almond. Turning to stone to avoid bedtime, that is a new one! He will be playing poker before you know it with that kind of self control.

Ouch! You did so much better than I did with my most recent bite and all I have are two tiny little punctures. I have not even dared yet to try the harness. Harvey seemed to enjoy it so much last year. He may just be going through a trying time and in no time decide he doesn't like watching your back go out the door to sit in the garden without him. Hope your thumb feels better soon.

Well look at you Jill. I thought you were a lifetime member when I joined just three months in! A one year anniversary for you and Harvey is growing up with us here to cheer you on. I have to learn to pay attention to F.A.R.T. night. By the time I am signing on tonight it is too late, I've missed it again.

Lyn, that is just precious and I don't doubt she knew what she was doing. When you get her to put the kettle on, I am coming over to have tea.

Lilly Grey comes home saturday
katana600 replied to FloridaBeak's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Be still my heart, Lilly Grey is another captivating grey. It sounds like you are ready for your adventure in caring for your little sweetie. Welcome to the forum, it takes a little while to find your way around but there are so many helpful people here to kindly guide you while you learn about Lilly and share your life with us. You are lucky that you were found at just the right time for Lilly to come home. We are glad you found us and of course happy you have such a lovely little girl. -
Awwww, its good to be green. Salsa is captivating. She is in good company and I'm sure she is celebrating a whole year with you and your flock. She is a lucky little girl.

What a good boy, Lyric looks like a little angel in his photo. Sadie Grey looks like she is telling you, "No pictures, not now, I'm busy". She is a beauty too.

Isaac is lovely to look at and even more entrancing to hear how well you are getting on with him. He has learned your habits well and will ever challenge your creativity to learn how to coax him into his cage when he knows you are leaving. I enjoy your posts and the pure adoration you have for him.

That video is delightful, the sounds of children laughing and the birds calling really piqued the interest of my birds. Now I will have to play it over and over again to entertain them since they didn't get to go to such a wonderful place. Thanks for sharing.

Hawkins knows he landed in a very special place. He is just a beautiful boy. Congratulations to you on your new job of being a parront. Welcome home little Hawkins. Believe it or not, the happiness keeps getting more and more profound. Savor the time you have together, you deserve it.

Good to know all of you are okay out there in the earthquakes zone. I have never experienced one and I can imagine I would release more than my tail feathers.

Ahh, all is forgiven and we are back to the sweetness and light. I am learning to listen better so training isn't so painful for me. LOL He is getting more adventurous. His habit has been playing on top of the cage while I am in the room and ducking to the safe inner reaches whenever I leave the room. Now he is getting more brave and is strong enough to flap and go to the floor and he is following me. He has done it four times this morning. The dogs have gotten so they don't even get off their spot in the sunshine to investigate any more.

Are Atoms a hit with everyone?
katana600 replied to jessdecutie18's topic in Homemade Toys & Playstands
Wow, look at you all go. The work you put into making a playful environment is inspiring. The creativity and ingenuity is what makes each of you drawn to the birds we share. Keep up the good work. -
So much for sweetness and patience and beauty this morning. I have accepted that he wants to stay in this smaller cage for a long time, so I was moving some things around making it part of my living room. Kopi flew from the cage top because he didn't like that I moved a table within six feet of his cage, so he flew. I was amazed that he flew more than fifteen feet and didn't have such a crash landing. I picked him up and he was sweet to have a head scratch but I hadn't noticed it was the table that irritated him. When I tried to get him to go into the cage, he suddenly spread his wings so he wouldn't fit through the door and then he bit my little finger really hard. It was right above the nail bed and I have to admit I didn't handle this bite as calmly as the first one. I understand it was my fault and he was giving me a message about just how he likes his cage to be left unchanged. LOL. We've made nice and I capitulated to his demands for decorating the living room his way.

Do you let Mango hire out as a shoe shine bird? That would be a good job as she entertains while she rakes in the tips. She is adorable. Thanks for catching it on video and sharing it with us.

I love that you taught Tobie "what time is it?" He knows the answer before he asks, but he enjoys the exchange. You are so right about taking the risk, bringing home a grey and the benefits to us from sharing our home with them. When he announced "it's suppertime" it reminded me of something but took me a second to dredge it out of my memory. He has the intonation of some star... maybe "its hammertime!"

I somehow missed this thread with Tobie and his new flying skills. He looks great and is having a good time learning to fly. I look forward to when Kopi molts and regains his flight ability. It is just awesome to watch Tobie and he certainly has learned some moves. I am thinking it won't be much longer for Josey to start flying too. I am really encouraged by all of our forum friends for the efforts and patience in helping our birds to be free and flighted as much as possible.

Those videos are just precious. It is like Pepper is feeding his baby. I love that they get along so well. You and your mom must be delighted that you can put them together. That is amazing.

Maybe Alfie is a social eater and she wants to share with you. Or maybe she just wants to keep her cage tidy and mess up your house instead of her own. LOL. Seriously though, it might make you feel better to give her treats in her cage so she gets accustomed to that just in case you need to be gone for a little while, not so much for her because like others have said, if she gets hungry she will eat. But, more for your peace of mind for when you are away.

Teaching your Grey correct phrase association
katana600 replied to danmcq's topic in The GREY Lounge
Thanks Dan, I have been so delighted in hearing all of Kopi's words that I spend more time answering him than being conscious of teaching him. He is having great success in teaching me his phrases though. LOL -
Oh Lyn, I am so happy for you. It wasn't long ago when she came to your knee for the first time. She really knows what is good for her to not only make friends with you but to endear herself in such a sweet moment. I am so happy for your little family.

Debandbella wrote: That's a good one, just the kind of help Kim didn't know she was missing. LOL. That Dayo is such a character.

By this time he is home with you and you are getting acquainted. Savor your magical moments. I can't wait to hear how delighted you are to have him home.

Chris I am so sorry you are going through this. Change is always difficult, so keep your spirits up with what you have with Talula, there will be some good to come of all of this.
