Thank you all for your lovely comments. She's getting to be so grown up and today she took her first little flight! It was so exciting and I happened to catch it on video! She's 9 weeks 1 day old today!

I've got some updates pictures! Averi is now 8 and a half weeks old!

Thanks everyone! She's getting so big and oh so feathery!! I'll definitely post new pictures soon, as she's grown soooo much. She graduated out of the brooder today and is living quite contently in her first cage! She's just amazing! Dave has raised quite fantastic little babies and I couldn't be happier. She's almost eight weeks old now!

Last night I found out my baby CAG's a girl!!!! So excited!

I have updated pictures! I've gotten to visit her every evening, except one day due to snow! She's getting sooo big and her first bath was Saturday. Bath Time! She became such a little fluffball after her bath! Of course I keep saying she, but Dave is thinking that 'she' is actually a 'he'. I'm still thinking it's a she but we will know for sure this week!

Post edited by: animalINSPIRED, at: 2010/02/10 16:56

Thanks everybody! I will do my best to continue updating pictures! Dave is the best, and my baby was being such a sweet little snugglebug! She wanted to be held the entire time I was there. I'd sit her down and she'd waddle right back over and try to climb into my lap! Hopefully the snow won't keep me from visiting her tonight!

When I first visited, the most apparent thing was his love and devotion for his greys! I knew the wait was going to be hard, but it helps that I get to visit her so often and I can always flip on the webcam to see what she's up to! -

I have tons of pictures! Now I just have to figure out how to post them! -
Hi I'm Taylor! I joined a couple months back, but since I haven't posted in a while, I figured I would go ahead and re-introduce myself! I recently put a deposit down on a 4 week old grey! I'm so excited. She (she/he hasn't been DNA-sexed yet) won't be coming home until late March to April. The breeder I'm getting her from is just fantastic (Actually a member here!). He is only about a five-minute drive and he is encouraging me to visit a couple times a week and handle my baby. A couple times I have gotten to feed the babies (there are two in the clutch). I first visited Wednesday, Friday and again last night, and her cute little feathers have already grown from little spikes to cute little tufts of fluff. She's such a little cuddlebug. I'm a first time owner (one of the reasons I ultimately decided to go with a baby as opposed to a rescue) and so any advice is welcome

Post edited by: animalINSPIRED, at: 2010/02/01 19:20

Hi! I've been wanting to own an african grey for a long time! I've done a lot of research and this fall, it might finally work out that I would be able to adopt a grey of my own. I have decided that I really woud prefer a CAG as opposed to a TAG. The one problem I have run into is finding a CAG in my area. My family and I were eating dinner about two weeks ago and we stopped in Petland afterward. They had a beautiful CAG who was under a year old. He was the sweetest thing. He stepped right up to me and wouldn't get on anybody else. I tried to hand him to someone who wanted to see him and he would just jump right back to me. It was the cutest thing. Unfortunately he was $1600. Long story short, I really am hoping to find a CAG that really gets along well with me. I have found a couple older CAGs on craigslist, but I am really hoping to find a baby who hasn't started talking yet. If anyone knows of a breeder in Indiana, please let me know!

That's what we normally do with our sugar gliders. We do bloodwork every other year to make sure they are healthy, unless something comes up and then they go in for immediate treatment! I have contacted someone about an 18 mnth old CAG, but he would have to ship him in order for me to get him. I'm not very familiar with the idea of shipping birds...
-
That's really strange! I hope your bird stays healthy!
-
Okay thanks!

Thanks, I just checked there. There was somebody that had babies, but I really want a weaned baby, as I don't want to risk handfeeding. I did contact them and am waiting to hear back!
-
Thanks! I did contact one person! Crossing my fingers for a response!

I'm close to Indianapolis, but we travel to kentucky a couple times a year for horse-related events, so I would consider a Louisville vet!
