I THOUIGHT THAT TOO... Dalia loves to sit on the back of my computer chair and shoulder and watch you tube vid's of other parrots. hahaha She listens to them talk very carefully. She saw a cockatoo bobbing its head up n down and a now she is doing it. So funny. -
I had my son early as well and he is almost as big as I am now and he is only 6!! The doctors did tests and could not figure out why. I am praying for you still, but, I think He will grow up to be a big boy and a wonderful son and grandson. Thinking of you.

HAHAHAHA {Feel-good-0002006E} THAT'LL TEACH YOU LOL when I come home after work I walk into my birdy room and say " Hello all my little mess makers, how was your day!" Thats what birdies do, make messes, and we still love em!
-
I beleive that all creatures can sense emotion. I know Dalia (my grey)can sense feelings and we used to have a dog named Ringo, who passed away He would lay beside my moms bed when she was very depressed for months and he never left her side until she was back to normal. He usually slept by me at nite but he knew she was upset and stayed by her he followed her everywhere, and seemed very sad himself. Some may think I am crazy to think that he knew but, I dont care. I know and so does my mother. So yes I think your grey did feel what you are feeling or at least recognize it. Cristen

I think I read that the last thing Alex said to her before he passed away was " Good nite...I love you" That was so sad to read. How smart these birds are. She must miss him dearly. She did do amazing work with Alex.

Awe how exciting! Cant wait till Dalia says sumthin!

The best advice I can give ( as I am in the SAME situation) is to make your husbands time with the bird "their time" and you should not be a there or be a part of it. Also he should be the one that gives the treats and does the things that your grey REALLY likes. I agree that he shouldnt have to go to your hubby in order to come out of the cage. My grey Dalia has made great improvements in the relationship with my hubby just by doing a few little things. He also talks to her and she has picked up some sounds from him. Good luck and keep trying, your grey may likely never treat you two the same as she/he has now chosen the FAV person. I was told that the majority of Greys are not one person birds but if they aren't then how come this is such a common thing with them? Im still trying to figure that out myself....

Thanks Judy. -
I agree with Judy. As if clipping wasn't bad enough, then he had what was left pulled out...Awe that poor birdy. Also be careful of his landings as he can break delicate bones in his chest. My lovebird had a HORRIBLE clip, I rescued him from a person who had an ad on Kijiji selling this poor baby 7 weeks old. Im sure that he was not weaned properly either. When I went to pick him up I noticed the terrible clip job and the poor little guy couldn't fly AT ALL. But his little wings have slowly slowly grown back and he has a couple very nice flight feathers on each wing and he is SO PROUD of them. As soon as he comes out for play time he stands tall and flaps his wings. Now I thought THAT was bad but your Grey has been put through HELL. Im surprised that you wouldnt have known that pulling them out one by one was WAY worse than the bad clip job. I cannot offer you any advice as far as gaining back his trust as I dont think I would trust you now either.

Post edited by: myafricanqueen, at: 2009/07/14 18:14

hahaha yes I could just buy a really neat piece of jewelery hahaha thats too funni jungledreamz! And to clear it up it's not like she is VERY fast at the chasing thing. 'Chasing' in this situation means following my face when I turn it away and laugh. She doesnt seem like ( right now ) that she is going to or thinking of biting at all. But I have never owned a Grey before so Im going to listen to what advice has been given here and maybe only give kisses and find other things that are fun for us both to do. Dalia likes to be with me no matter what I am doing, So if Im laying on the couch she wants to lay with me. She loves to have her head and neck pet for ever and when I stop she pushes my hand until I start again, she snuggles right into my neck. She is the sweetest Grey ever. Cristen -

THANKS GUYS! I CAN NOW SEE WHAT YOUR SAYING... It's funny how they can seem harmless and I forgot that she could do damage. She is such a sweety and has yet to bite me. I would like to keep it that way. Cristen -

YES YOU ARE RIGHT! its not good to let them in your mouth and access your saliva. As you could carry a bacteria or something that can make them sick. Im sure that the outer rim of my lip is fine. NEVER IN THE MOUTH OR ON THE TONGUE>

Awe thats too bad about that little egg. But you know the way I look at it is: It wasn't meant for you right now. For whatever reason it was not meant to be. Thats ok...maybe down the road you will see why. Good luck with your search and I hope you find the perfect birdie. Cristen

Oh no! I hope your baby is ok...Please write to let us know the outcome.

Thanks so much she. I love him to bits! I cannot wait till he hits 7 weeks and I can share wether its a boy or girl! TuffGal or TuffGuy Thanks for caring enough to check back on Teeg! -
Dalia likes to copy my laugh when Im on the phone talking to a friend or family. I laugh at something that the person is telling me and then she copies me. The person on the other end of the phone hears it and says who was that laughing it sounded like you! I tell them it was Dalia and they laugh and then I laugh and then of course Dalia laughs pretty soon we are ALL laughing!!! Its the funniest thing ever and I think its just so cute how smart and FUN she is. Cristen

Post edited by: myafricanqueen, at: 2009/07/14 18:00
