Aww, that's great that after taking antibiotics he's just about back to his normal self!

What a beautiful, majestic looking bird Harley is! How great of you to give this poor bird a new chance at living the good life. I'm sure that he'll do wonderfully at your home, congratulations! Please post pics of him soon, I love to look at them.

I have a jenday conure, and he is just the most cuddly, loving little guy ever! He's not as high strung as the grey, loves to play, and wants nothing more than to be with me as much as possible. My Rainbow only screeches when he wants to come out of his cage, which is usually when he's craving attention the most. He's got a daytime and a nighttime cage, so he'll call to me to let him know he's sleepy at night, too, so I can move him to his nighttime cage. He really is a delight, I think you'll love the green cheeked conure!

If I just go out for a quick trip to the grocery, it's so funny when I pull in the driveway! I can hear the Pekingese dogs, the CAG, and the conure all crying and chirping and calling to me....such a commotion even for a short time away! I can only imagine how they'll be when I'm gone for even longer!

Aww, that would break my heart in two if my CAG starts to call for me when I'm leaving for work! That's all I would need! I start work in a few days, so I still have time to get him used to my being away, little by little. I'm definitely his one and only love, as he will hardly tolerate anyone else in the house handling him or even getting too close! I really feel bad.

Here is one of the loves of my life, my Jenday Conure, Rainbow! He's such a little sweetheart! Always ready for a cuddle and snuggle.

I love watching fish, too. Maybe it's as soothing to them as it is to us!

I let Dodo sit on my shoulder daily, as long as I don't have any jewelry on that he can get to. So far I've never been bitten. He'll use his head to "push" my hand away if he wants me to stop doing something, so that has always been my warning that he's had enough! I tried but could never get him to sit on my lap, not once.

I will leave the tv on, so there's some background noise in the room for the CAG and conure...and I make sure they always have plenty of food and toys in the cage to play with. I just hate the idea of them being locked up in the cage all day while I'm gone, they're used to being out whenever they scratch the cage, or in the conure's case, SHRIEK to come out. LOL

Thank you both for responding, I do hope he doesn't get too stressed or lonely with me gone every day. This is going to be something new for all of us to adjust to!

I have to start working now, after 15 years no more being a stay at home mom for me....and I don't know how my CAG will handle my being gone. Do any of you have any suggestions for getting him used to not seeing me 24/7? He's very well behaved, is learning to talk (a lot!) and he just turned a year old this month. I'm worried about how he's going to react to my being gone for 25-30 hours a week.

I LOVE my concrete perch! It was pricey, but well worth it, because it keeps my CAG's nails trim and he doesn't hurt me while I hold him anymore. He stands on it just enough to keep the nails from getting too long.

Dodo just learned how to mimic the telephone ringing, then he says, "Hello, Dodo!"

My CAG HATES strangers! He screams at all of them, even at my dad and my teenage son! I can't figure it out for anything. The only person besides myself that he allows to touch him is my husband, and that's only half the time!

So cute! How fast our greys learn how to manipulate us! hehe
