1. My baby boy is definately all man....He has learned (from his daddy I'm sure) how to mimic the manliest of all belches. Lol!! The first time I heard it I thought I wouldn't stop laughing. Now I'm trying to at least teach him "excuse me" by saying it every time he lets one loose. So much for the magic of the first word...my baby's first word was "bbbaaauuuuurrrrrrpppp"
2. Aw that little tease!!!! Toying with your emotions like that...lol Hopefully he says it again really soon, along with plenty of other words. Keep us posted!!
3. Oooooo bleechhh!!!!  Ha ha!!! Just the thought of little sweet potato floaters in my drink makes me shudder...LMAO!
4. Ha ha ha! But have you considered the possibility of birdie backwash?? Eeeewwww!! Lol!! Just kidding...
5. Wow! That's a big healthy girl you've got!! Chimay's weight varies between 496-500 grams (I try and weigh him at least once per week) and it's stayed there pretty steadily. I think I had read here somewhere that if you can still feel their keel bone when running your finger along their belly then the bird's not overweight.
6. Chimay doesn't really physically play with us per say...he loves tackling his wiffle ball when we roll it at him, but the only physical interaction he likes is cuddle time. I really wish he liked being on his back the way Adaya does!
7. Holy cow!! That is a lot...I had considered getting the Orbit instead since it's so much cheaper, but I just couldn't pass up on the Atom. It looks like SO much more fun than the Orbit
8. Just wondering if there are any of you out there with older greys that still cuddle...I've been REALLY enjoying Chimay and his snuggly nature right now, and it pains me to think of that stopping when he gets older and more independent (6 months old now). Is there no hope? Lol... Thanks everyone!
9. OMG Caitlin I can't believe I missed this post....CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! That is SO exciting!!!
10. Oh my....I am so sorry to hear of Jake's escape. It is comforting to know that he should have the wild instincts to survive, but I know that doesn't fill the void he left. We're sending our best, most positive thoughts your way in hopes that he comes home or is found. Please keep us posted.
11. Ha ha ha!!! I'm sorry for your numerous spilled drinks but that is hilarious... They really are cute to watch when they drink. Chimay has started taking to licking the condensation off of our soda cans when they come out of the fridge. Now we give the cans a quick washing before settling on the couch...just in case.
12. I would also recommend the aloe vera juice...if she's molting then the new pinfeathers may make her uncomfortable, keeping up the bathing will help with the itching
13. Be careful with the jumbo size....maybe someone here who has the jumbo can better speak on it, but the perch size is 1 1/4 inches thick which I thought would be too big (don't want him falling off of it for lack of grip). I opted for the large instead b/c of the thinner perch size and the fact that the jumbo is $30 more, and you only really get 2 inches more in the diameter of the orb.
14. Oh my gosh!!! Thank goodness you were able to take action as quickly as you did....and that Fred is okay! Good thinking on having the travelling cage available for emergencies. Karma to you!!!
15. I couldn't agree with you more....it's also my understanding that after the weaning/fledging process is done, it's in their nature to bond with someone other than the party who took them through the weaning/fledging (joining a new flock). On top of that, if you're uncomfortable with going through the weaning yourself then you should definitely leave it to someone with the right experience and knowhow. Even if there was no issues with the change in bonding, it's still safer for the baby if you leave it in the hands of an expert. Best of luck to you and your new baby CAG!! Please be sure to post pictures when he/she comes home!
16. How is Coco doing? I hope he's okay...were you able to make it to the vet?
17. How was the homecoming?? I'm so sorry to hear about the clipping...hopefully he'll be okay regardless. Looking forward to baby pictures when you get a chance!
18. I bought it from http://www.motherpluckinbirdtoys.com/ I called first to see what size would be most appropriate for my CAG (he's around 495-500 grams), and she said that a large would be best. I purchased one of their ceiling protectors as well...it's rather expensive, but totally worth it (I hope)!!!!! The large has a 22 inch diameter, the jumbo is 24 inches but it looks like the perching diameter would be too wide for a grey's feet to grab onto.

Post edited by: chimaysmommy, at: 2009/05/31 15:00
19. I am so excited for it to get here...I recently purchased what I thought would be a large two-ring swing for Chimay to mount in the ceiling by the window (to replace the wicker baskets he keeps destroying with extreme efficiency), but it turned out smaller than I'd thought. It worked out though, because it's perfect to hang from the toy hook on his playtop. ANYWAY, after I opened up the package, I treated my disappointment by buying the Atom instead!! It should ship by Monday or Tuesday...I'm so excited! And I'm sure if Chimay had any clue as to what's coming he'd be excited too. Ha ha!
20. What a great shot!! Aren't cuddle sessions greYt???
21. Aawwww! I feel the same way after Chimay and I have a good long cuddle session...it really does make you relaxed like you just got done having a massage yourself!
22. I'm thinking about getting just a little tupperware tub and making it available on the table where I usually give him his spray bath. I have been apprehensive about pushing him any further than the spray mist because he doesn't seem to like it much. We'll start with the tupperware and move our way up to the tub if he likes it. Ha ha! TycosMom I'm jealous!
23. I'll have to make a point to change his water right before bathtime! Ha ha....he just looked like he was having so much fun I hope I can encourage him to do it some more. When it happened Saturday I was cheering for him and telling him what a good boy he is, so hopefully he'll keep it up
