This was her biggest hatch day present! She was terrified of it at first but will happily sit on it now! I can't wait to hang it up and get some toys on there

WOW! I can't believe Darwin is one year old today!!! She has grown up so incredibly fast I can't wrap my head around it. It feels like such a short time ago that I went to see the babies and we met when she was just 6 weeks old. She is just the light of my life and brings me so much joy! She makes me laugh everyday with her antics and hilarious sounds. She isn't the best talker yet and seems to prefer making noises - and my goodness she makes a lot of different sound effects. Little Darwin is still coming to work with me at her breeders and has made quite a few friends! She has her own perch she hangs out on and loves going there - the whole car ride she goes "WEEEEE! Woohoo!" lol. She's also recently picked up "I'm a parrot!" from my boyfriend's Amazon, which she says incredibly enthusiastically. Anyway, I'm trying not to ramble too much but I'm just so proud of her. She still happily steps up onto anyone, gives the best kisses, and has cuddle time at 4pm and 7:30pm every night. She eats her veggies with vigor and can outsmart me with her foraging toys lol! Anyway, we all love her to pieces and her hatch day "cake" is in the oven now (blueberry/cranberry bird muffins lol). I'm so glad I found this forum so I can share with you guys! I'm just so excited for my little Darwin and so glad she's a part of my life. Here are some pictures of her playing with her hatch day toys! Enjoy!

I'm so glad you guys are enjoying the book! I completely agree with you Lynn, if I didn't have Darwin I would never believe half the things that happened! I just think it goes to show you how amazing animals really are, and how important it is to learn that! Keep me posted on how you like it!

LOL Cait that is so funny, I did the same thing with my graduation money! I got made fun of a lot lol but it was well worth it. Ecko is just adorable and my my, spoiled rotten! What a lucky Grey, and happy belated birthday Cait!

LOL Emma is just the funniest. And Darwin has that exact same ball, she's had it since she was 9 weeks old. And she acts the exact same way with it, although she tends to bring it to a table, run around and bang it against the table.

Hi there Fiona, I've had lots of people ask me this question and truth be told I'm not 100% sure why they do it, but lots of Greys do. I have a young Timneh, Darwin, and she has done this since I brought her home. She has a gajillion toys in her cage and is perfectly behaved, so I'm not sure it's out of boredom. I know of quite a few Grey owners who have mentioned that they do this, it's almost as if they're digging. I would try not to worry too much about it as I think it is more of an instinctual thing than a behaviour issue. However continue to do what you are doing by not going to Bonkers and giving him attention when this happens, as that could reinforce it. Hope this helps, and I'm sure many others will have more knowledgeable responses.

YAY CHIMAY! Happy hatchday to you!

Just thought I'd share my new favourite book! It's called Wesley the Owl, and as it's description says, is "The Love Story of an Owl and His Girl". Yes, there are some teary moments - but my goodness, it is a FANTASTIC book and I think I may end up reading it again very soon! It's all about a young biologist and how she brought in a baby owl, who imprinted on her and she cared for for his entire, long and love-filled life. You will not believe some of the things that happen in this book, and I think the more people read this book the better: it truly says something about humans ability to bond with a wild animal and just how significant of an impact such an animal can have on a human life. It really is a phenomenal book, I learned a lot and I think any animal lover would just love it. It will also be wonderful if non-"bird people" read it - they might understand a little more the relationship we have with our birds! Let me know if anyone decides to read it! Here's a link to the book's site: http://www.wesleytheowl.com/ Cassandra

I just love Emma to bits, what a brilliant and adorable little girl you have there. Way to go Emma!

Thank you all so much for your kind words and support, I really appreciate it. A few days ago I got the clear to see Darwin again from my vet and my doctor - so I'm very happy, and so is she! I am feeling almost back to 100%, just the cough is persisting. But it all seems to go away now that I can see little Darwin again! It just goes to show you, I think, how much they really change your life - even though I've only had her for about 8 months! Thanks again, everyone
-
Congratulations on your new addition! And little Guapo - watch out! Piles and piles of love are coming your way!
-
LOL Jill give your poor little Harvey more credit! I agree with everyone else - just you wait till he grows up! In fact, please keep us posted with his new vocabulary as he does grow up - I'd love to hear some of the things he's going to say! You will be the first to have a stand-up comedian for a Grey!
-
Congratulations Brittany, that is very exciting! As Judy and Jill have said you'll just have to keep the two separate. And don't worry, I'm sure you'll find the time to spend with both of your babies. When the human baby is napping perhaps? Although that's probably when you'll need to catch up on sleep! Congrats again and have fun with your babies!
-
Dee it sounds like you've got everything under control! I'm glad to hear you've found a way for both of you to be comfortable taking the meds for little Juno. I can't wait to see pictures!!!!
-
I know I saw this kind of late but WOOHOO ANA GREY! She is such a pretty girl and my, what a talented flier! That is very impressive and such a special, special day for you, Janet. It's wonderful that you have it on video to look back on when little Ana Grey a total pro! B)
-
Well Darwin is still a young'n, not quite a year old yet, so her vocabulary isn't fantastic just yet However she does say something I find to be just adorable: "peebooooo" in a very soft, small, girly voice. I find it so funny because she can say "Peekaboo!" perfectly, but she decides to be cute when I'm around and goes back to her little "peeboo". They are just so sweet, aren't they? Karma to you for this greyt thread!
-
Don't you just love Amazons? My boyfriend has a 15 year old DYH, Sammy, and from what he's told me they do this everyday in the shower! Amazons do LOVE their water, there are no two ways about that! Enjoy your sweet Nilah and her hilarious, dramatic antics!
-
WOW Pat what a stunning Greenwing you have there! I look after 2 breeder Greenwings at work and let me tell you they are just the most gorgeous birds in the world. SO majestic! He really is a stunner Pat, congratulations and I can't wait to here more about Chatot!
-
I saw that picture up on your site and almost melted!!!! Nothing should be allowed to be so cute! I want all three!
-
Congratulations, Dee! Every new day brings a new step in the right direction for you two. And about the vocalizations - wait til your little smarty Juno starts molding those sounds into all kinds of things! LOTS of fun yet to come for you! Enjoy! {Feel-good-00020114}
