I think I just figured out why he does it. He's mimmicing me. When I call him and want him to come to a certain place in the cage I tap on the place I want him to come with my fingernail. I think when he gets where I want him he clicks back at. I'm not sure but it kinda makes since to me in my little bird brain.Lol

ok thanks I thought it was something else i needed to worry about.

The past couple hours george has been clicking his bottom beak on the cage bars. And idea why he does that, or what it mean. Thanks Marla

I don't belong to a bird club. How do i find one from my area. And how do I find out about bird fairs. We only have one grey and he a hand full for me at the moment. He's a good BITER. But working on that. But I would like to join a bird club and go to a bird fair

Oh George doesn't get on my shoulder. He hung onto the sife of the inside of the cafe and reached out to bite me. Just a little background on george. He's 7-10 years old, He came from a lady that had around 50 birds. She got george as a companion for another grey. She was never ablr to touch him nor the other grey we have reacently learned. Apparently all her birds bite. We can't touch him. He is pulling feathers from under his left wing. I've been spraying him with Aleo vera jusice and I think it works a little. But I think If I could just get him out of his cage and be able to work with him maybe that will help. But we havent gotten to that point. But we're working on it.

Ok I've been sitting in front of Georges cage reading and talking to him trying to get him, I guess used to the me and things around here. So I'm sitting next to the cage always with the cage open so if he decides to come out he can. I'm reading and playing with toys. He starts coming around the cage. Which he will follow me anywhere I go around his cage. Almost like daring me to touch it. Cause at times he lunges at me. But when he came around to the front door of his cage. He reaches out and bit me on the shoulder. Am I maybe doing things wrong. or maybe pushing it to fast. I realize we have only had him for almost a month. But sometimes I feel like we're going backwards. But I refuse for us not to be best friends with George. I know he will realize that I'm the best thing since sliced Bread. LOL. I don't want to push, but I'm not sure what I should be working on first. I'm so Confused.

It was suggested to me that I may need to try a humidifier in the living room where we keep George. That it may help his skin and maybe help with him pulling feathers from under his wing. I think the Aleo has helped but he still is plucking. Do I put the humidifier near his cage or just in the room. We have a pretty big living room. Thanks Marla

ok I have to ask, just because I'm a little jelous of everyone. Getting in so much love time in ith their birdsand I'm still trying to not get bit by George. But when your birdsa are on your dinner table eating when you are. Dothe birds poop on the table. I love George but I don't kno about him pooping on the table while we're eating. Just asking. Marla

Ok I have a question about George and his biting. Someone here at home asked about putting bandades on my finger that he alway bites. Would it be ok do you think to put a couple extra on (For padding )and continue to work with him, and if he tries to bite it won't hurt as bad and maybe I could be able to pushback like I was told to do instead of pulling away. He has let me get much closer to him in the last fe days, I'm feeling positive about it. And he is also talk more and more. Not understanding everything he's saying. And Iv'e noticed he talks the most when I'm reading out loud something from this website. It's like he's approving hat I'm reading. Thanks Marla & George

Hi Alex. I'm pretty new here myself maybe 3 weeks. you wouldn't beleave how much I have learned here. Everyone is very helpful in answering any questions I have. Usually with in minutes of when you ask. So welcome Marla & my grey George

AHHH I thought I was being clever with using the lime juice with the color. I think I'll buy some of the little snack baggies. I cooled him the 7 beans with rice and pasta. I did them up in little wraps of saran wrap and put them in the freezer. But when I thaw them out they seem mushy.

I'm not sure how long to like keep the fresh food in the fridge. The fruits that I dice up and make a fruit salad. Or the veggies that i cut up. I put fresh lime juice on it to help the color. So Any advice would be great Thanks Marla & George

3 to 5 years why do they need toys?

My grand kids call me Nana, about a week after getting George he stated calling me Nana. I about cried hen he first said it, LOL

he's still getting used to things around here, Usually he's quiet when everyone's home but not tonight. He couldn't see me earlier today when we where home alone. He kept mimicing the telephone.Finally I answered him then he laughed at me

really...LOL he was very chattery when we was talking..I was telling my family that some seemed kinda grouchy on here tonight. George was just mumbling. I guess practicing new words. But he was having fun doing it cause he laughed every once in a while. It was funny

OMG I couldn't watch all of it. I wanted to cry. Not knowing where George came from other than the lady e got him from make me just want to hug him to peaice. But lucky for him we still can't touch him yet LOL. Thaqt was just sad to see how they ere handled.:angry:

I was reading a thread out loud to Doug and my son James that as posted on here on the welcome forum. When I finished reading it out loud. Everyone here said I agree and even George said I agree. Ok does he really understand or was he just talking. Either way it was funny. Marla

yeah I tried that he bite my hand. The syuro I have says it has corn syurp, water and vanilla. So I asn't sure thats why i asked. Thanks Marla

Is corn syurp ok for Greys? George love Safflower Seeds But they are so small I have a hard time holding them for him to take them from me. I drop more than he gets. Can I put a dab of corn syrup on the tip of my finger just to help the seeds to stay there. Thanks Marla and George

I had a little progress ith George. I hwas working with him and the targeting sticks. After about 15-20 minutes I asked him to step up and barely touched his foot and after a few minutes when I ould say "Step Up" he would put his foot on the stick. The sticks i'm using are about a 1/4 dowel about 1 foot long. How long should I work with that size before i move up to a larger size dowel? One that fits his feet better. I''m pretty excited about our work today. Oh and I have finally figured out what his favorite treat is. Safflower seeds. He'll go all over the cage for them. Marla
