Well Butch nka Solomon is now home. Johnnie, the pet shop owner, said he was freaking out and had plucked a couple of feathers because he didn't like the changes going on. I then told her that his new cage wouldn't come until Thursday according to the UPS tracking system. She then offer to lend me a cage to use until the new one came. I, of course. readily accepted and now Solomon is home with me. He is adjusting okay, a little loud screaming when I leave the room but he has quieted down a lot in the last hour. He wants to come out of his cage, but I'm going to wait until tomorrow to attempt that. He is in the living room and, of course, he and Ana Grey have not met yet. He does make some sounds, a laser gun sound, I guess I'm going to have to take him to see Star Trek!!! And he does go "Huh uh," like Tim Allen on Home Improvements did years ago! I have a feeling he has a few surprises for me. :silly:

Ana Grey is a very independent 9-month old and is always going here or there in seek of new adventures. She has a window perch, actually a shower perch attached to the glass and she loves to sit and watch the world go by. I relish her sense of adventure as she climbs from here to there exploring everything. She does always remember however to come to me for her tickles and cuddles. Thank goodness she still wants a bundle of them. You should be proud of the confident little girl you've raised!

Great video of Calypso, she is truly a sweetheart!

Great picture of Adaya's bath time, Kath! Thanks for sharing with us! She looks like my Ana Grey except that Ana always flaps her wings and babbles up a storm while drying out

Sorry Anna about the biting. Is your grey, what is his name by the way, only biting you? Have you been doing something different then normal? Without knowing the situation it is only guess work about the cause. My baby grey, Ana Grey, 9 months old, is a sweetheart, most of the time, but occasionally she will nip at me because she doesn't want to leave the top of her cargo net when I want her to. I then back off and wait a little while. If she still doesn't come down, I offer her a treat, peanut or pecan nut, which she totally loves, and that usually immediately gets her to come down to where I want her to. I am the only one who interacts with Ana Grey now so her bite is what it means, "I don't want to, go away." Sometimes they just like alone time and I try to respect that if I can. I don't know if this helps you, but they are intelligent creatures and unfortunately sometimes have minds of their own. I'm glad you have decided to join the family. If you have any pictures of your grey, we would love to see him. Welcome to the family!

What's your favorite you tube video
Luvparrots replied to Janfromboone's topic in Photography & Video Room
My favorite is Snowball the dancing cockatoo which has been posted here numerous times. I love to watch the grey to the left of Snowball who is dancing along with Snowball. I'm not sure everyone notices the grey dancing also because Snowball is such a great show all by himself. -
I'm not experienced with greys, only had mine for 5 1/2 months but I bottle spray Ana Grey 2 days with Aloe Vera and water and bathe her on the 3rd day in my sink. I use lukewarm/cool water and plug the sink and run a small stream of water from the tap. I let the water run over Ana Grey's back and splash the water in the sink all over her except her head, being very careful not to get water in her ears or nostrils. I let the water fill so that it covers about 2/3 of her body, she likes it and doesn't seem to mind the softly splashed water. She gets soaked and I wrap her in a towel for a little pat drying (I believe this also helps her not to be afraid of a towel in case a vet needs to towel her). I then put her on her cage playtop and she flaps her wings and fluffs her feather in front of her avian light to dry herself. This is when she is most vocal. Probably telling me how I ruined her do!!! I hope this helps, it does work for Ana Grey and me!

Thanks Cindy! I went to see Jade aka Butch this afternoon and fed him Kiwi and carrots which he readily took from my hand. He then walked over to the edge of his cage to climb up on my shoulder and wanted to give me kisses, which I am still leary of. He then just sat on my shoulder and said, "huh," this is the only word that he does say apparently as I have heard it several times. It was a great afternoon!

What a cool name for a sweet grey. Chikki looks great and will soon be full of feathers. Thanks for sharing him with us.

You're on Carol, all I need do is cross a bridge to be in Oregon and the airport is just a step away. I checked shipping of the new cage and it was shipped yesterday, Thursday, they send UPS so hopefully on Monday. All I have to do then is go get Butch. I am thinking of changing his name, he doesn't talk and when I say Butch he doesn't react so perhaps without a problem I can change his name. I like the name Jade. Do you think that's too girly, everyone?
