Hi Mikio, karma to you for adopting an older grey and giving her a loving forever home. From your Avatar it is easy to see that she is a beautiful FID. Can't wait to hear more about her and the name that you decide best reflects this lovely grey. Welcome to the family!!

Dawn, I'm sorry about all of Clyde's health problems. I know you suspected something might be wrong because of her prior situation. I hope they can all be taken care up with the proper meds. So "Clyde" is a female. Will you be giving her a proper name for such a grand lady? Please take heart knowing you are now taking care of this sweet grey and know her life was been improved so much!

Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2009/05/13 05:46
Thanks for asking Cindy. Sully didn't make a sound until I opened the door to his room this morning. He does make a sounds like "Hi" and "Huh" but I'm not sure what they mean. He will step up nicely once he is out of his cage. He pins his eyes real well to let me know if he is unsure or scared. He sat on the back of my typing chair this morning. He has a great appetite and will eat fresh fruits and vegetables three times a day. He is not too much of a nut eater though. He still pulls/chews his feathers some. But I won't give up on him!!!! I spray him with Aloe Vera juice a few times a day. He has pretty much stopped his shrieking. I wish I had more experience with a plucker but I guess you don't get experience without trying.
Whew, that is a scarey story!!!! I would have been a real basket case under those circumstances!!! So glad all is well for Spock!! May he live long and . . .!!!!!:cheer:
I'm so glad you have been able to get an appointment for your grey so quickly. We'll be waiting for your update and I hope the problem can be easily corrected!!! I'm glad you've joined the family. Ruby is a lovely name for your grey. Welcome to the family!!
Hi tarah, I have a grey too but I have been working with a new Eclectus (3 days) who is about 10 years old. Sully is a very nervous bird and is a terrible plucker (I hope to be able to turn this around) anyway, he has a huge beak and has bitten me a couple of times. Now I watch him very closely and if he pins his eyes at me when I want him to step up I just move away. This morning he pinned his eyes when I asked him to step up so I moved away and just keep talking to him. He finally came out to the top of his cage and I knew he was ready to step up. Which he did beautifully and now is sitting on the back of my typing chair. I have learned to wait until Sully is ready at least for now while he is adjusting to his new forever home. I wish I could get into his head. He calls to me when I leave the room so I know he wants to be my friend. He is just afraid. Be patient with your grey and you will find that happy medium.
Partner sure looks like a very content and happy grey. Great looking cage set up. Are you going to provide Partner with a bell? They do love bells so that they can ring for us when they want our attention!!! ;)
Ana Grey is a sweetheart and will stay quiet until about 9:30 am after that she will start calling out. On his first day Sully got me up at 7:30 am with a loud squawk, scared the daylights out of me. I sang "Good Morning to You" to him and he quieted right up. He was very quiet until I opened the door this morning about 9:00 am. Guess he doesn't like my singing!!!!
Hi armywife, love your Avatar. Congratulations on your new grey, Scarlett. Is she close enough that you can easily visit her? If you have any pictures, we would love to see them. Welcome to the family!!!
