  1. Welcome mypoots. I am an mature retired lady who lives alone with my parrots, pug, canary and tortoise. I have three parrots that I can let out of their cages at the same time. Do they like each other? No, they do not interact. They can sit in the same area together but not close. They do not fight but they do not play together. My TAG is 5 and I have had her since she was 4 months old. My CAG is 3 and I have had him since he was 5 months old. My zon is a re-home that I have had since he was 1 1/2 years old. He is now 6 years old. My advice, don't get another parrot for another parrot, only for yourself. I did have to re-home a male eclectus that I got from a pet shop, he was an older guy over 10 years old, my TAG hated him and would dive bomb him and peck at him relentlessly. The eclectus was terrified. He is a very happy guy next door with a family that love him.
  2. If Echo were my zon, I would be taking him to an avian vet to see if there is something in the eye. Perhaps some chip of mirror or something that small is in the eye. As for the talking, congratulations Echo!
  3. Here is hoping Cricket goes through her season with dignity. As for Louie well, he does seem to like us older women!!!!
  4. What a lovely pictures of your Too. Priceless!
  5. Hello Quirky, very nice intro. Jake is a very handsome guy and I am looking forward to hearing more. The pictures are great!!!
  6. Oh sure offer up your ladies, knowing that they live so far, far away. Just be careful, Louie has never been clipped and flies very well. He also has a wild streak so he might just take a trip and come looking for Nilah and Cricket. Be aware that my brother who lives in Georgia has agreed to take Louie when the time comes and I will let him know of your offers of female companionship for Louie. (heh heh)
  7. So Louie's Sixth Birday has come and gone. He was hatched in December and has been with me since he was 1 1/2 years old. Louie is a sweet guy and does not show any of the ornery signs that male zons are supposed to posses. Hopefully he will always remain his sweet self. Happy Hatchday Louie. "][/url]
  8. I have boings all around also. I have plastic "flying saucers" under them that work to catch all the poo. (round plastic saucers) They are heavy enough that flapping wings do not disturb them and a trip outdoor and a hose clean them off nicely.
  9. Well perhaps Issac could sense that something was up with your health. Glad to hear that you are going fine now. Be safe and secure and have a nice New Year's eve.
  10. There are no guarantees that a grey will be this, that or the other thing. Go look at this grey and if it's to be, the two of you will know it. Good luck.
  11. I think it is how well the bathing is introduced that helps a grey with his bathing. My TAG loves a bath and so does my CAG, they love to sit on the top of their cages and open their wings and get totally soaked. Congratulations in introducing bathing in a positive way to your grey. Hooray!!!
  12. Talking to your grey is great. They so want to understand and belong. All our parrots need is to be able to understand what we want. So we need to always be willing to share with them.
  13. Birds airways are very sensitive and fragile. Remember when they fly they clear their airways before flight. Light as a feather is the way they go. I do not use any scents in my home and if I happen to cook anything with a heavy odor I make sure the fans are on. Having children who were/are very asthmatic and spending many nights in the emergency room you become very sensitive to enjoying fresh air and free breathing.
  14. Way to go Misty. Very ingenious!!!
  15. Have a great day with your family, Ray! Remember, today's your birthday and you can do anything you want!!!! Enjoy!!!
  16. Oh we should all get together and make up a group of travelers to go to Africa and see the wild greys. What fun that would be!
  17. Hate to tell you but...... I have a 305 g; and a 505 g and one more in the middle and they can shake/bounce the glass pictures off my hallway. They have done it several times. Three whirlwinds going through the hall, very invigorating and windy.
  18. The only problem I have is with this one: http://www.amazon.com/Wesco-Original-Bird-Kabob-Shreddable/dp/B0002FP1W0/ref=pd_bxgy_petsupplies_img_y. My CAG has a great way of getting tangled in rope. If all the round pieces are gone and rope remains, my Sterling Gris would get tangled in a flash and scream like the world was ending. (and getting a leg tangled can be very dangerous) Of course that's just my CAG, he is a big clumsy lug and baby.
  19. Oh dear, Issac has always been a favorite of mine (and you too, of course). Perhaps something has changed. New friend you are seeing so less time for him? Not letting him out as normal? Need for Vitamin D? I hope you get him back on track very soon. I hate to think that you just spoiled him too much so just need to wait it out. Your and Issac's bond has always been great to read about. If I remember right, he escaped once and roamed the sky and area calling for you. So the bond is tremendous. Be calm and talk to him and see what he wants.
  20. I'm a beeswax user. Try: http://www.perinmowen.com/BeeswaxCandleSpecials.php
  21. My CAG, a big lug of a guy is afraid of new people, even the little ones just wanting to take a peek at the big bird. He screams like a banshee and fluffs up like a big monster to scare the "bad" human off. He is getting much better now as he has gotten older and just fluffs up but no screams (thank the lord). I would just move your grey to another room during this time of lots of company. That would make life easier for all.
  22. I have read that Alex was a plucker. A written fact.
  23. Very glad to hear that you and Dorian are now all right. Have a safe and happy New Year.
