Her new phrase, "want some apple" and I immediately repeat it and run and get her some apple. If she asks for a kiss, "give me kiss", I make the kissing sound. She general kisses me on the cheek. Dusty is very trusting and pliable now. You are his flock. Whatever you do, don't break that trust and he will be bonded to you like glue.

I have had my grey since she was 4 months old. She is now 20 months old and she is with my from the time I get up until bedtime for her (7pm). She has full run of the house and is only in her cage if I have to leave the house or need her "out of the way." She goes in and out of her cage as she wants. I haven't gotten tired of her yet, perhaps in another 50 years!!!!

I don't allow my grey on my shoulder as she likes to nibble on my ear and that is a no no. I do let her sit on the back of my desk chair as she loves to preen my hair for me and that feels great!

Hooray, Rene is home!!!! Just be patient and take things at Rene's pace and all will be fine. Can't wait to hear more about the homecoming tomorrow! Perhaps he will be more ready for pictures once he has had a chance to settle in.

I personally believe that if your grey is well adjusted and sees a variety of people before you leave for your week vacation and these people are the ones caring for your grey when you are gone, all will be fine. It really depends on the personality of your grey and how he adjusts to change. Getting another bird for your grey is not the solution because then you might just end up with two lonely birds. Pets are for people not other pets. This is just my opinion. I have two birds. My grey, Ana Grey, is almost 2 years old and is loving and out with me most of the day as I am retired. My eclectus is an older rescued bird who dislikes my grey. They are not buddies. Sully likes only to sit in his cages (I have cages for him throughout the house) where he can see me. He is very set in what he likes and what he dislikes.

I believe that is at 2 years old. I know that is when others have posted that their grey's personalities "change".

Ahhhh the dreaded volcanic ash. I wouldn't take in any if you can help it. I remember in 1980 when Mt. St. Helen's blew we have ash everywhere. People from other states asked if we could get some for them. I just went outside and scraped it off my car and sent it to them!!!
