Pardon me Rick, I thought you were talking about hinges on the lock as you didn't provide a picture of your particular lock. I have an EZCare cage which I got from PetSolutions.com. It's hinges are covered front and back so a parrot cannot open the door hinges. The food bowls are enclosed in a sort of a mini-cage and the outside latch is a deadbolt which you can side into a notch so it just won't slide easily. Perhaps your parrot wouldn't be able to reach and open these.

Hi Tarheelgal, I commend you for taking on an older grey in need of a good forever home. I'm glad you have set up an appointment for MoJo to make sure he is in tiptop shape. Just to be on the cautious side, if I were in this situation, I would keep your conure away from MoJo until you get an A-Ok on your new grey. Just to be cautious. Pictures please we love to see pictures. By the way, what is your conure's name? We also have an Other Birds Room for our other feathered friends where you can tell us all about your gcc. Hi Adam, it's been a while, glad to see you and Bismark. I don't let my grey on my shoulder so I don't have the removal problem. If I want her back in her cage I will use the bribery lure if need be. Love the Java tree pictures and Bismark looks smashing!!!!

Hi Jon so glad you and Meggie have decided to join the GreyForums. You are certainly on the right track with Meggie and I applaud you for taking in an older grey. Just take things slowly as you have done. Talk to Meggie and let her know what is going on. She understands and will be watching you. You seem to have already gained her trust and I commend you for that. As for bites relax, they use their beaks like we do our hands, my grey has given me a few little bites (I say little because she has never broken the skin). Meggie already comes to you willing for step ups. When she wants a head scratch she will lower her head for me. If you want to give her a scratch, tell her what you are going to do. My grey will lower her head if she wants one. Watch her eyes, they will pin if Meggie is leery of something. You seem to be doing everything right to help Meggie settle in comfortably, so just keep doing what you are doing and Meggie will let you know when she is ready for more. It's great to hear that your baby grey is doing okay. is your grey a Congo or a Timneh and what is your grey's name? On another note, I have to ask, does your Avatar name mean that you are a great Lakers' basketball fan?? I only ask as that is my son's favorite team. He is banned from getting to sit in the box seats at Trail Blazer games at the Memorial Coliseum because he roots for the Lakers when they are in town.

Very cute pictures! Ana Grey has started to come over and eat from my plate. Because she does this I have started to initially put some food she can eat to the side of my plate. That way I can be definitely sure she isn't getting any of my saliva. I live alone, perhaps I should just set a place for her at the table!!!!
