Both of my parrots were clipped when I got them. Neither are clipped now. The only problem I have is scheduling out-of-cage-time so my grey does not attack my canary who also loves his out-of-cage time.

My TAG, Ana Grey, is my first big bird. I spent a couple of months here reading and asking "silly" questions and getting to know everyone. I grow up around animals so I knew they poop wherever they want and get stubborn some times but if you treat them with love and respect they love you back a thousand fold. If you can spend time with your friend's grey before the vacation so the grey can become use to you that would certainly help. I live alone so my grey is very attached to me. She does seem to love the male members of my family when they come over. My oldest grandson makes sure to always give Ana Grey a pecan/walnut when he comes over at least every other day so she has come to expect a nut and always flies to him. Ana Grey also adores my 10 year old grandson and his father and flies to them when they are over. So I believe if your friend's grey can become accustomed to having you around, the grey-sitting should be very pleasant and perhaps you will be able to have the grey out of the cage during that time if you let her out of the cage and are able to put back in while your friend is present.

I hope the implants help Charlie, Sheila. As the parront of a chronic plucker I do feel your pain for Charlie. My Sully after a year and oodles of Aloe Vera misting is finally coming around and letting feathers begin to grow in on his back and chest. My best wishes and prayers for Charlie!!
