Mort is a very handsome looking grey!!!!! Can't wait to hear more about him!!!!!

No, I don't believe in trying to train an animal to poop on demand. I just have specific perch places for my birds to go to in each room. A boing here a ceiling perch there with newspaper on the floors in these spots. Before I got my first parrot, I knew I wanted her flighted so I replaced all my carpeting with laminate or tile floors. This works for me because I live alone and am retired. As for my pug, she barks when she wants out. So I guess in a way my birds and pets are trained but not really. Only Ana Grey is all over the house. My older ekkie goes from cage to cage as he is set in his ways and prefers cages, my zon is also a re-home and usually just stays in the bird room hanging around the perches and boings there. Ana Grey is the only parrot who trusts me completely.

Hi ermal88. I'm afraid that there is not a way to tell how old your grey is. Personally, why should it matter they live so much longer than most pets anyway. As for talking, my grey knows a lot of words but only says them when she chooses not on my command. Greys learn what they choose not what we want. They have minds of their own that's what I love about them. If you have any pictures of Joey, we would love to see them.

I spend as much time as my grey and I want to spend together. Ana Grey is flighted so she can come and go as she pleases and she flies from the bird room to my office, living room or kitchen as she wants. We have oodles of tickle time and sometimes she steals my breakfast/lunch or dinner. If she wants something to eat she comes to me and says "want some" or "want so apple" or " want a nut" and I oblige if appropriate. I have perches and boings and stands throughout the house and she is all over the place with lots of foraging toys and chew toys everywhere. Luckily she is not destructive when it comes to my furniture, well I do cover my keyboard as she seems to love to nibble on the keys!!!!!

i believe some people feel the bands might be caught on toys, etc. My grey was never permanently banded and neither is my ekkie. My Zon is banded and will stay that way, unless I notice a reason it should be removed.

It would help if you would tell us where you reside, in what country or state.

My grey is now 2 years 8 months old and I have no idea what the "terrible twos" are supposed to be as my grey has remained her sweet self. If anything she is just more self-confident and easy going. Perhaps you will be just as lucky. Ana Grey certainly is not a shoulder bird as she loves to nibble my ears and poke holes in my clothes so no shoulder grey in my house. I do have perches and boings close to my computer so she can sit and visit with me while I type. I do have to cover the keyboard when I leave the desk as Ana Grey loves to pull of the keys and those little buggers are expensive! Al my birds are flighted as I believe they should be able to be self-mobile and life to me is so much easier when they can get around on their own.

So glad Wallace has now found a wonderful forever home. Makes me feel all warm and cozy. I can't wait to hear more about this lucky little grey!!!

My grey's annual check up is $199. For three greys you got a bargain perhaps!!!!!

Happy Hatchday Corky!!!!!!! And many, many, many more!!!!!

Ana Grey had a feather like that at one time, I left it alone and she removed it in her own time. So don't worry your grey will take care of his grooming in his own time.

My Ana Grey has always been a cuddler. She is now 2 1/2 years old. She will still lie on her back for me.

I have three different kinds of parrots. A 2 1/2 year old female Timneh; a 2 3/4 year old male BFA and a 10+ year old male ekkie. My grey is my only fid who was raised by me. The two male fids are both rescues. I only have them out all at once under my supervision. All three are flighted and all have different personalities. My grey is the smallest of the three and usually eggs the other two on as she invades their space. Luckily she is very quick and very agile and the BFA and ekkie are both cumbersome in their flight. Some parrots can live comfortably with each other, my three are of that nature. Of course, I also don't leave me sweet pug alone with any of my parrots as anything can happen and I don't want any mishaps ever. Better safe than sorry.

I'm not a facebook fan either, sorry!!!

how much out-of-the cage time is ok?
Luvparrots replied to JackTheTurkishGrey's topic in The GREY Lounge
My fids are out of their cages whenever I am home, unless I am distracted or have visitors unfamiliar with my fids then they are in their cages or closed in their birdroom. I never leave my birds out of their cages with the whole house as their domain when I am not home as there are way to many things they can get into. My Ana Grey still enjoys being with me and I don't feel her interest in me is limited because of the out-of-cage time. She is quite independent and self-sufficient. -

Clare, the best service you can do for Pepsi is to ask the owner what Pepsi's likes and dislikes are. She is the one who would know all the right answers.

I am so sorry to hear about Happy's negative reaction to you. Have you perhaps changed your hair, nail polish color, perfume or something else personally? Of course it might be just that Happy has chosen your BF to be her special person. Perhaps other members will have some other suggestion to help you in this situation. Please be patient and hopefully Happy will calm down toward you. -
So glad to hear that Milo is on the road to recovery. Hurray!!!!!

Great to hear Nilah is healing and singing and dancing up a storm!!!!!

I have a female grey and she is loving and cuddly and very independent. My male parrots, a zon and an ekkie are more solitary and not as self-assured as my grey. Is it because they are rescues and she was hand-reared, I don't know. But I also found female dogs and cats more cuddly and loving than males. So I always prefer females to male pets.

My zon and ekkie have such lovely feathers, I now have a place for them. Thanks Georgiesmum!!!

Awwww you are lucky, my BFA won't step up at all, he just flies off. Luckily he will go back to his cage when I say, nite, nite and provide his treats!!!!!!
