I also have two parrots that do not get along. My grey I have had for almost 3 years and she is quite aggressive around my zon, who is twice her size. I have had the zon for 10 months and things are not better. Louie has only learned to stand his ground and that's not a good solution. Please keep an eye on your two parrots to see if they will like each other. I wish you the best of luck in that regard.

Congratulations on your grey, Blue. I am looking forward to seeing some pictures and hearing how Blue likes his new home.

There are parrots/greys who can mimic quite quickly. Sounds like that is what you have here. Congratulations on your quick little grey!

(1 = rarely or not at all / 2 = sometimes / 3 = often / 4 = very frequently) I have a TAG who will be 3 years old in August. 1. Does he/she get on well with more than one member in the family? (if my family didn't have their own homes it would be a 4). I live alone so yes she and I get along great. She does like 2 grandsons very much who see her frequently. My daughter she tolerates if she has pistachios to share! 2. Is he/she receptive to strangers? 1 I don't encourage interaction with strangers as I don't want anyone taking my grey. I don't allow anyone but my family to touch my grey. My choice. 3. Is he/she receptive to change / new things? 4 I have had no problems giving her new toys or things. I just put them up and she accepts them. I am her mommy. 4. Is he/she cuddly? 4 Very cuddly with me. I touch her everyday, and she allows oodles of scratches and tickles on her head and shoulders. I do not touch her other places. She is out of her cage most all day so is very close to me. 5. Is he/she aggressive? 1 Only if you count bites if I catch her up when she does not want to go into her cage. Otherwise she is a doll. 6. Is he/she playful / energetic? 4 Yes all the times. 7. Is he/she moody / grumpy? 1 No, never 8. Does he/she speak? 4 Yes, very well 9. Is he/she loud, noisy? 1 I least once a day, I believe to clear her lungs/mind. Otherwise she talks normally. 10. Does he/she damage household objects they shouldn't? 2 But, of course, she is a bird you know!!!! I live alone and am retired so the only time Ana Grey is not with me is when she sleeping in the bird room. Otherwise she can come and go as she wants and has always been independent and flies back and forth from birdroom to where ever I am as she wants. Ana Grey is independent and very confident.

Hearing that Pancho is settling in so nicely is great!!! I truly love these amazons as they have such personality and are a joy to have around! Aba Grey still dive bombs poor Louie even chance she gets up Louie is very cool about it and pretty much just ignores her. Keep Pancho's updates coming. I love it!!!!

Hey Joe, perhaps Milo just needs a break from training. He has started to settle in and get use to things and training is not something he wants to do all the time. What is the schedule you are using. Perhaps a little time out is needed. My Ana Grey will shake foot to hand and give me kisses on request, but I have never really "trained" her. It is just something we do and praise is all I have ever given for the pleasure of her cooperation. I totally love it when she flies to me and gives me kisses on the cheek. It makes my day!

Glad to hear from you!!! We are certainly looking forward to info about Chloe!

Perhaps this lady wants to keep the grey for herself???? Before I got Louie from a private party, I tried to contact a couple of rescue places. At a couple no return calls and at one with a lilac zon I finally got a call from a lady who was in charge who thought I would be a great parront. I told her I was sorry but after waiting a month for an answer to my e-mail with stats about me I assumed I did not qualify for some reason or two and starting looking privately. It seems that the lady who I had been working with "dropped the ball" so to say and the boss lady was very apologetic. I almost chose to take the rescue but fortunately commonsense took over and I declined. Working with Louie, he is still a very leery guy, and Ana Grey's jealousy issues are very time consuming. Or course, my daughter is very relived about my decision!!!!

Let's see: Ana Grey - Have a new keyboard has you can't re-attach a chewed up ~` key, or a caps Lock, or a !1, do you get the idea??? A couple of totally chewed up venetian blinds - forgot to open them and let the light in, silly me!!!! My bird weighing scale keys - thank goodness I got to her in time!!!!! Top of my door jamb - a stuffed monkey now sits on the door and the door is safe again at last! Any piece of paper that Ana Grey finds is all chewed up! My recipes are now beak-edged!!! We no longer think about the old ceramics that I inherited from my late mother-in-law that are now gone forever! Louie the Zon - All my aloe plants now have new leaves as they have been chewed down to a nib All toys are almost totally destroyed and wooden ones are now bye, bye

You need to relax. Our greys are very sensitive and most likely Max feels your anxiety and is reacting to it. You should calm down and start again.

Can't wait to see Eva!!! Looking forward to some great pictures!

Frankly the only difference between a CAG and a TAG are size and coloring. Both females and males mimic/talk the same, it all depends on the grey. Actually they learn to mimic/talk on their own. There are some words that my grey has not chosen to learn and some that she picks up almost immediately. They choose what they like and dislike. And like all parrots, some never talk and some take longer to choose to talk. But they are all intelligent and fun to have around if you treat them well and care for them with love.

Your grey is upset, she doesn't know what happened and why the wings were clipped. I'm sure it was a traumatic experience for her being held down and her wings being immobile for a period and then unable to fly afterwards. Much like your legs only allowing you to crawl not walk any longer. Hopefully she will forgive you over time. Please remember that she will probably continue to try and fly and crashes may not be eliminated just because the wings are clipped.

Why does Murphy poop in his food & water dishes?
Luvparrots replied to reggieroo's topic in The GREY Lounge
Luckily, this is a habit my parrots don't have. They also will not eat mess food so go figure! Extra perches sounds like a good solution. Good luck! -
I joined the Forum 3 months before I got my grey and everyone was so nice to answer my questions and basically put up with me. There is oodles to read here and I learned a lot and so was never bored just excited!!!!

I have the remember box marked and if I don't log off and sometimes I forget, I'm still logged in even if my computer is shut down. Don't ask me why. It is convenient for me as I am the only one who uses my computer usually.

Do baby mourn their breeder and clutch mates?
Luvparrots replied to mcuellar2413's topic in The GREY Lounge
When I brought Ana Grey home she cuddled right up to me. Her breeder told me to cuddle and talk to her. That she was use to it and would fit right in quicker. I did as she told me and Ana Grey and I have been buddies from the beginning. Millie, the breeder, and I talked often and she told me that the rest of her siblings were a little lost with out Ana Grey, as Ana Grey was more or less the boss on the bunch. There were a total of five babies in Ana Grey's clutch. Millie did not ship her babies, you had to come and get them and she sent home oodles of food and information about your new grey. -
Neither of my parrots talk when strangers are in the room. They need to be comfortable first. Max is probably quite comfortable with your son and I think this is a great plus as greys normally are very leery of children. This shows that your son has a good heart.
-
I have a grey and a zon and they both scream now and then. I call it clearing their lungs, seizing the moment or just for the hell of it!!!! Like people our parrots have to hoop and holler like the rest of the world. When Ana Grey screeches I tell her "that's not nice" so now if I put her in her cage or shoo her away, she let's out a "that's not nice" back at me!!!! that's why we have them around to make our day.
