  1. Sterling Gris is 5 months old today and weighs in at 486 grams. Today he made my heart stop again. I'm sittting type on the Forum and I hear this loud and terrifying squawking! I look up and Sterling is hanging upside down with his leg wrapped in the long chain of the bell that hangs on the boing above my desk! He is hanging there with all his weight on that one trapped leg! I immediately rush to support his weight with one hand while trying not to feel the bites I am getting from this scared little (well, he is large, but very young!) grey. It was not fun to try and unwrap this flapping grey from the chain that was wrapped twice around his leg but I got the job done and Sterling Gris is as good as gold. Naturally, I took the bell down and racked my brain to figure out how to rehang this loved toy that has been a part of my parrots' lives for three years. So, here it is re-modeled! And yes, you guessed it, Sterling Gris was back on the boing as if nothing had happened. He was playing with the bell, but I missed the pictures (darn it!) But I did get this one: If nothing else, my parrots are all fearless and adventurous little devils! Got to love them and am so grateful that I was there at the time of this second "accident"!
  2. Great pictures of Betsy. I am so very happy that you were able to help her. She is absolutely smashing!
  3. Walk On an airline flight would you rather have a window seat or an aisle seat?
  4. Hi Steve, its great you took Jasper to the vet and the new diet should do wonders for her. Hopefully after a molt, Jasper's feathers will no longer be laced with black now that you have her on a better diet. I look forward to hearing more about Jasper and seeing some pictures. I totally love my BF zon, Louie, they are such fantastic little clowns and so full of energy!
  5. Cpngratulations on your new grey, Jess! Looking forward to some pictures and hearing how the homecoming goes!
  6. Great pictures of Zak! Congrats on the new apartment!
  7. Oh congratulations! I just love the little babies when they first come home, so sweet and loving just wanting to bond with their new parront. I promise to wait patiently for more pictures!!! But please hurry, I really just can't wait to see and hear more!
  8. I have three parrots, Ana Grey my 3 year old TAG I have had since she was 4 months. She is the Queen of the roost and very aggressive. Louie the BF Amazon, is also 3 years old, speaks Hindi and is just learning English. Louie has been part of the flock for 11 months. He is usually just a laid back clown except when it comes to Ana Grey or my new baby, Sterling Gris, a 5 month old CAG, who has been part of the family for one month. Sterling is larger than either of the older two and will stand his ground if they come after him, which they both do as well as each other. That's right, none of them get along at all. They nip and fly at each other. I live alone and am retired so they are out most of the day with me in constant supervision. I still have high hopes that they will some day get along. If they start bickering which they do all through the day, I just cage the most aggressive culprit (which can be anyone of them) and take a rest! I will say, I love my zon. Louie is a blessing and so much fun to watch "kill" his toys. To me, it is worth the diligence I have to have, to have the three kinds of parrots I really want!
  9. Contact Talon, administrator, for change of name and instructions on avatar changes.
  10. My greys prefer wooden toys and so does my amazon. I have tried plastic balls, but they are destroyed in no time by my three. So I prefer to purchase the heavy wooden toys or blocks that last longer around here.
  11. Slang Sometimes there is a harangue but is much more fun to have meringue than to watch a naughty gang create such a big bang. Stage
  12. I love the pictures of your two babies. I look forward to hearing and watching them both grow.
  13. I like both names, Joaquin means, "God will establish" in Spanish I understand. I can see the difference it the eyes, very unique and makes your precious guy easy to find in a group. Good for him! I look forward to learning more about Christian/Joaquin. Christian stands for "Servant/follower of Christ ".
  14. If you type in "interpreting bird leg bands" in an internet search engine, it comes up with oodles of sites about interpreting bird leg bands. I didn't check any of them, but perhaps someone else.......???? wants to do the research. Only my amazon has a leg band, my two greys were raised by small locals who didn't use them but kept personal records of their babies.
  15. Thanks everyone, Ana Grey had carrot muffins and extra pistachios for this 3rd Hatchday!
  16. What a lovely flock you have. Thanks for sharing them all with us!
  17. Ana Grey uses her cement perch as a sleeping perch. Go figure!!!!!
  18. Ana Grey is 3 years old today and she is still my sweet little lady and loves her Mommy best! I remember when I first got her: She has grown into such a companion and friend: Have a great day, my sweet little lady: Today is a carrot muffin day for the gang!

  23. Thanks for your comments forum members. The Game Room can be a very prolific room or be very quiet, it all depends on the forum members. It is used by members who while waiting for new topics to come up in some of the other rooms spend they time playing the games. It can be a pleasant way to wait for new threads or posts to come up. There is a way to "mark forums read," perhaps if that were activated members could go more quickly through the threads they don't want to see. Right now, for the last three times I have checked there were "no new posts" so the new posts were empty . So everyone make more threads or posts and tell us more about your parrots/greys or share some pictures, Then the Game Room would not need to be active so much as there would be other threads to see and respond to,,,, instead of being bored and just logging off. Game Room Moderator, Janet
