Lol hi they all do it, Boesman is now 18 months and he doesn't seem to care that I say no he will also bite my face if he is on my shoulder but just really picks at me not serious but I put him in his cage if he starts because one day it's just not gonna be picks and I'm afraid for my eyes ect. I leave him on top of the cage for about ten minutes and then I take him again then all the excitment of seeing me is calmed because he usually picks at me when I come from work and then he is out and on my shoulder:woohoo:
9. Hi Great post!! Before I became a CAG owner I "rescued" a ringneck named Vlooi!! In 2007 we went to a braai one night with my friends to her uncle we were there about half an hour my husband called me into the house to a room where 2 freezers were standing he went to get some ice. He saw that in between the freezer a cage (round filthy old cage) when he looked closer there Vlooi was the cage(she had no tail it was bitten of) was so filthy it stank there were no water the food (seeds) was just thrown on top of the filth I immediatly went closer she screamed blue murder I was holding a piece of bread in my hand when I bent down the bread touched the cage she came froward I took a little piece in my mouth to moisture it she ate out of my moputh that's how hungry she was...!!!!! Then the girl of about 2 years old came in immediatly bannged against the cage man I love kids but at that moment I didn't I told her to stop because Vlooi was going mad!! I went out to the uncle and asked why Vlooi was being neglected in that way he simply said "Well she bites us so what the heck" I asked him if I could have her? He said "yeah take her she is a screaming headache" I had to control my anger really good I told my husband that's it I am going home to get her out of there she was 5 months old really hungry and scared at home I opened the cage she didn't trust me I gave her some fresh water and seeds she climbed out and stayed on top of the cage I left her there for the night she never once climbed down. We went to the petshop the next morning to get some advice and proper food ect. when we arrived home blood was spurrted on the wall she plucked her feathers till it bleeded phoned the vet he said he doesn't really deal with birds after a huge search I found a avian vet they are scarce around here. He told me what to buy and ect. I started treating her it took a lot of patience and love eventually she came around after 2 weeks of talking,and slowly we made progress we were very attached she was queen of the home lol... But she was a troubled bird things would go well for weeks and then she started plucking again time after time then the whole thing started over but each time I knew better how to handle her she began to talk very clever birdie I had her for 11 months came home one night and found her dead in her cage don't know why, how!! It was devestating she was doing so well no plucking nothing I made peace with it, it was hard but if I had to do it all over again I defnitly would. I am glad she had it good for the few months at least in her life!! I still miss her{Love-000200BF}
10. Hi Thanks for the help guys, Dave he eats veggies and fruits and parrot mix (seeds,nuts,dry fruits)in the mix) but the pellets he refuse to eats he just plays with them, so you say if he eats the vegs and fruits and the mix I don't need to worry about the pellets I was worried because it looks like everyone is feeding pellets and mine refuses to eat them :unsure: and how much is too much calcuim??? Thanks again for taking the time to answer me :cheer:
11. Hey Welcome congrats on the baby!! This is a wonderfull site and the people are very helpfull!!! I downloaded Image Resizer Pro on the net to resize my pics just browse around there is many of these programs you can download!! :cheer:
12. Hi My friend bought her Grey from Hennie about 3 years ago he is not the reds ones but a perfectly healthy Grye Hennie sure knows he stuff when it comes to birds!!!! When I bought Boesman he had red feathers under the wings and tummy when he molted they went along!!!
13. Can't something be done to her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Gosh it's upsetting here in SA we have SPCA's I once phoned them for my neighbour his dog had puppy's they became very sick and I phoned the SPCA took them all and phoned me the next day to say they all had to be put down it was heart breaking but they were better off I just wish I could have a enormous place to keep every sick or abused animal man what can we do???:angry:
14. [file name=FOUND_LOST_CAG.doc size=47104]http://www.greyforums.net/components/com_joomlaboard/uploaded/files/FOUND_LOST_CAG.doc[/file] Ok first mistake I made I did put on the flyer it's a grey but no additional info and the area he got lost he is about 2-3 years old as the eyes are a yellowish colour he is not clipped, he doesn't speak just makes the most beautifull sounds he said hello again this morning and the sound I picked up quickly he makes the sound of a koo-koo clock so maybe I can ask which sounds did their bird make??? He also attached himself to my husband so I figure his breeder is male or he had a Dad that looked after him;) he walks backwards and then heads up for a rub so cute!!! Thanks Post edited by: Natasha, at: 2009/05/04 09:27

Post edited by: Natasha, at: 2009/05/04 09:28 FOUND_LOST_CAG.doc FOUND_LOST_CAG.doc
15. Hey Guys and Girls. I just want some advice on Boesman's feeding he gets fresh veggies everyday with fruits and I put some pellets in his bowls but he doesn't seem to eat it and that is where the calcuim is??? I was a bit stupid in the beginning as the petshop where I bought him didn't tell me to NOT feed so much seeds so know I am only given seeds as a treat how can I get him of it??? I am afraid if I don't give seeds he will be hungry!!!!!! Thanks Natasha
16. I am so glad Lily is getting better!!!
17. Morning I haven't recieved a call yet. I just want to know what type of questions I should ask if someone calls I will post the flyer later what I put up of him. Thanks
18. Hey I bought the paper this morning still no advert I intend to put a flyer up at the shops around here this weekend I was scaning this morning again the area he was found for any adverts still nothing so I am gonna put it up!!!!! I know I would be devastated if I lost my grye and do something about it!!! Will keep my eyes and ears open I did ask around all the houses where he was found how far can they go when they get out? If my Mom hadn't been at home the dogs would have bitten him to death and we would have never known about him I am just glad that didn't happen!! Thanks I will keep you updated
19. Hi I am from South Africa I am doing all I can to locate the owners like screening the posts in our local papers for a missing grye we don't have any avian vets around here nearest one is about 70km from us no one reported it there as well, will be looking in the local paper 2morrow again!!I actually recieved a call today and if the person is correct about where he thinks he comes from (it's one of my friends) I really don't know if I would send him back he apparently wasn't looked well after but only time will tell if they are searching for him I will wait for their reaction first as I do not intend to put him back in a harsh lifestyle it may sound as if I am judgemental but I ABSOLUTLY LOVE GREYS!!!! And if I can give him a better life why not? If my grey were lost I would have gone to hell and back to find him they don't seem to do anything???
20. Hey I was without internet for 4 weeks!!!! Missed this site so much!!! Two weeks ago my Mom phones me at work "I have found a baby grye in my yard the dogs got hold of him but his ok after a stuggle with the dog" I rushed over there very excited the moment I saw him I said"this is not a baby his about 2-3 years old" the most beautifull grye and bewildered we walk around asking if someone lost a grye no one came forward after 4 hours I told my Mom I am taking him home phoned my friend he had a cage for us luckily he started eating the evening and drinking water...the next 2 days I went every where to look for posters nothing so I am keeping him he is adapting very well I think he was used for breeding as he doesn't talk and is a bit scared of our hands he makes the most beautifull sounds he took my husband as a friend he can scratch him and kiss him but no hands lol....Boesman wasn't impressed with the new guy and he clungs on me when ever I let him out I keep on reminding him he is still Moms number one lol.....This morning the new Grye (we still don't know what to call him) said his first word "HELLO" I was so impressed with him so there is a chance that he will learn to talk?? He is eating and drinking very well and I let him out of the cage and he climbs back in himself just need to clip his wings but for now we are taking it slow to gain his trust will post some pics 2morrow!!!! Natasha
21. She is so cute!!!Congrats on your beautifull baby!!
22. Mine doesn't like the shower he likes standing on the outside licking the window lol trying to catch the waterdrops but I take him with me when I bath and he climbs in himself and i spray him but oh boy he gets angry and by the third spray he starts saying :ooohh nice,nice" so ja it's up to them:cheer:
