1. I don't think he looks bad at all. Infact, I think he's gorgeous. I have a feeling with your love and care he will be 100% in no time at all. I don't think I could wait the 2 weeks myself. I think he's beautiful.
2. Ok, I bought a stuff toy monkey for my dog yesterday. It's about 15 inches long and super colorful. It is motion activated and makes money sounds (oooh oooh aaaahh aaahh) and his legs moves when he does this. It's really funny actually. My dog likes crazy stuffed animals but when I brought it in the house and showed my dog, Bonkers my conure flew through 2 rooms and attacked it in my hands! He literally landed on it's face and he screamed and shrieked and bit it's face like crazy then he flew back to the boing rope in the living room and kept on squaking and biting his bell untill it stopped making the monkey sounds. He acted angrier than I have ever seen him act before. I have never seen him act in this way since we've had him.Now many of you know Bonkers was lost and I took him in a few months ago so I don't know any of his history other than he was well taken care of and very very loved. He is super tame. My questions about this are Do you think he had something like this in his past home?? Could it have been one of his favorite toys? I have heard that parrots will take to a toy and beat the crap out of it but that means that it is their favorite toys. Or is this something very scary to him and he really does hate it? I am thinking maybe we shouldn't let him see it ever again:unsure: We have only let him see 3 times now cuz we are not sure what's going on with him.The last time he attacked it was yesterday (when we got it) It was on the table and the cat set it off and Bonkers flew from his cage (through 2 rooms again) and jumped on it's head and started biting it again along with all the angry noises. Then after beating it up he went back to his boing rope and beat the bell up real bad. Earlier that day it was making noise and Bonkers was on my husbands shoulder and he bit my husband just cuz he heard the noise. It's really funny to watch but not sure if he should see it again. But if it is a favorite toy of his I don't want to deny him of it either.Anybody have any thoughts on this? This picture is when we showed it to him when he was on his boing rope and he will travel up the boing to reach and bite the monkey. Just don't know if it's good or bad yet. After the monkey I did show him a tiny stuffed teady bear and he acted scared of it and flew away. Wouldn't go near the sweet teddy bear. 3. I wouldn't send anyone money untill I had the bird or Maybe your aunt can go visit it and be there for the shipping process? Or give your aunt the money and don't give it to the birds current owner untill the bird is on it's way to you. Only reason I say this is I got Tigger my eclectus from a local online newspaper add. The guy wanted a set amount of much money or trade for a pair of meyers. Before I found tigger, A guy from Florida with a pair of meyers contacted him and they set up a deal. The guy in Florida bought the ticket for Tigger to go and was suppose to be shipping the meyer parrots the same day. Tigger was at the airport and ready to board but the guy double checked if the Florida guy had shipped his birds. He found out that the man hadn't purchased any tickets for himself or any animals for that day or any day in the future. (But he did the Tiggers last owner all the flight information) So that one was a scam and I would just be scared to send money with no guarantees you would be getting a bird or even a healthy bird at that. I have found 2 great parrots on craigslist.com and was able to see them before deciding if I wanted them or not. Perhaps you can still check locally and wait for the right one to come along??? I also like to see them in person to see if the "connection" was there between us:) It sad, but You just can't trust anyone these days anymore:( There are too many crooks and con artist around:dry: Also I didn't really look untill someone questioned if it was the same bird in the picture. I can see a leg band in atleast one of the photos but not in a couple others. It may be just be the pictures though. 4. Congradulations on your decision to get a new companion. I think Amazons are amazing and my husband was even really taken with them too. I think an amazon is going to be our next bird, too:) Please let us know the moment you find one, what it's name will be all the good stuff. I'm exctied for you!!!
5. I changed my greys name from Homie to Baxter when I got him in July 08 and he was 12 years old at the time so I totally understand. He is doing fine with it, too. I did like Harrison though but If you like tha anna part, how about Hanna? Its kind of close to Harrison, too:) Sophia was nice, too. Please let us know the new name. This is exciting:)
6. I heard it!! I heard it!!! No stopping her now;)
7. Oh that's so cute Carolyn:laugh: Baxter has a perch like that one too. They are so handy.
8. Roger, that was no nice of you to post. She is a doll!!! {Love-000200BF} She is such a good girl eating all her veggies, too. Great video, keep em comin'
9. I would take him in a minute!! Even if he does need work. I could never have a full size Macaw, my home is not big enough for one either. Me and my husband did see a severe macaw at a pet shop a few weeks back. I fell in love with him. I wanted him real bad but I want every bird I see:laugh: I don't have the answers for you but I'm sure with as much experience you have with rescues you would be a great mom to Gizmo. I think you found each other for a reason. It was meant to be. Please keep us updated on him:)
10. OMG! Those are all so adorable. So cuddly looking. It looks like the bunnies are holding ears instead of holding hands:) And I want the chipmunk really bad:woohoo:
11. I thought getting him to accept the cage would be a time consuming process and I was going to place it next to his old cage untill he was ready. When we brought it in the house. I was all excited and kept telling him "Look Baxter, this is for you. You got a new cage!!!" He was looking at and I started getting bowls inside and hanging some toys, putting perches in and he watched it all. I finally put him on the top playgym perch and he seemed ok about it and kept watching me organize the insides. I have tried in the past to let him see the inside of Bonkers cage, cuz Bonkers is always on his so I thought I'd let him see his too but he would always get all stiff and clear he wanted no part of it:angry: . That was the reaction I thought I would get to this cage too. But when I brought him down and put him inside he started checking out every inch of the cage. All the perches, up the sides of cage and even upside on the top of it:laugh: He even looked happy and excited. Then I put some food in one of the bowls and he started head bobbin:laugh: :silly: :woohoo: He took to it very well and very fast. I was thrilled.
12. This one has rectangles instead of circles outside the doors and they did swing freely. He got interested in them cuz they moved I guess and figured out how to open the doors. First I thought I was going crazy cuz, one day the water door was open, I closed it, then the food door was open the same day. I thought I shut them but didn't think too much of it. Then I saw him climbing down the side. He played with the swinging thing, pulled the door open and started banging his bowl up and down. They are in a wire and can't be removed from inside but outside they can be removed:laugh: . He took that bowl and just slung it all over!! It was funny. I had to tighten the screws down so the outside things don't swing. If he really wanted to open them he could but he hasn't so far. I did leave the other doors where he can play with them and toss another bowl around. I even put a stainless steel bowl inside his cage on the floor and he loves tossing it:laugh: Found out that was a great toy for him:) . The rope you seen in Baxters cage was a yard sale find:) It is probably 20 feet long so I had to cut it but it should last awhile. I got 2 of them and they were in their plastic packaging and still brand new. I have no idea what they are called or what they are used for but they are very thick. Baxter loves them! The retail price on them was $24.98 each and I got them for 50 cents apiece!! I just had to pick them up.
13. Hi, I have 3 birds, Baxter my grey was the first. I adopted him when he was 12. Then neighbor brought over a lost conure. We kept him cuz we couldn't find owner. Then we got an eclectus parrot. The conure and the grey are buddies but another member has a grey and a conure and she says they do not get along at all. It probably depends on the birds. My eclectus does not like the conure at all. I think he would like Baxter my grey but my grey don't like him very much it doesn't seem like. Baxter will let the conure on his cage but not the eclectus. But I can have them in the same room with me close to each other and there is no aggression from either one towards the other. However, they all have their cages in the same room and they come and go out of their cages as they please and I have never had any issues with them being out together. There is no guarantees the birds will like each other or get along but I do think even if they don't get along that they might still entertain each other. They do make noises or talk back & forth among themselves and I think it is really cute to see and hear. I think they like having the other birds around and I think they enjoy each others company. All my birds have come to me as adults and I haven't had any problems out of any of them. I think when you go to see an adult bird if you are considering adopting an older one you should be able to pick up some clues when you meet him or her. They don't all have to come with extra baggage. I've gotten 3 good ones out of 3 prospects:) Don't know if any of this helped you but this is has been my experience with my flock:)
14. Look at you getting all creative with the pics of Congo now:laugh: . I need to get a mirror shot like that of Baxter:)
15. Thanks everyone. I am enjoying him so much:)
16. LOL, you got that right. If Baxter starts coming toward Bonkers he screams and yells and throws a hissy fit:laugh:
17. Thanks Judy, yep, they are buddies through and through. Bonkers always goes in Baxter cage and steals his goodies from him and Baxter don't even care:)
18. Have to try again.

Post edited by: BaxtersMom, at: 2008/10/17 01:47
19. Baxter has found out how to open the side food doors now:ohmy: I had to tighten the ones I use for food down real good cuz I caught him with his food bowl in his mouth and he just his tossed his bowl with food all over. What a mess it was:laugh: I do let him play with the other side though. Post edited by: BaxtersMom, at: 2008/10/17 01:46

Post edited by: BaxtersMom, at: 2008/10/17 01:50

23. Great photo! Great looking grey. Welcome to the family Harvey, Gavin & Clare.
24. That is great news!! Yay!!! I remember the first time Baxter flew off the cage. I think I was more excited than he was. He was cage bound all his life and never learned how but he is getting there. I am very happy for both of you!
