  1. Awwwww, Kiko is beautiful. She has great colors! I can see why you fell in love with her so quickly.
  2. Poop Off is a miracle!!! Works on everything. I love it!!!!
  3. I live in the suberbs of Detroit Michigan and I have done online searches for birds when I was in the market with a yahoo or google search for example, "Detroit birds for sale" and have run across several people/rescue places that are willing to take in birds temporarily untill you are able to take care of the grey or what ever kind of bird that needs a temporary place untill you can care for your bird again. Main goal is to keep the birds and people together. Perhaps you can try that or ask a bird rescue in your area again, do an online search for bird rescues in your area and they may be able to direct you in the right direction. The ads I have seen even mentioned people in the military that get deployed and don't want to get rid of their birds. The places I have seen seem genuinely sincere about keeping the person with the bird. Of course, if you find something like this, i would check it our real good and make sure it is on the up and up and get paperwork stating you left your bird temporarily. I have seen several of these ad online and maybe you might can find one in your area too. Good luck. Let us know what happens.
  4. Yeah!!!! Congradulations!!! Total Success!!!{Communicate-0002011B} I am so happy for you. My grey was 12 years old when I got him. I know babies are great and I'd love to have one but with an older bird they already know how to talk when they get to you. At first Baxter would only talk when we were out of the room but after about a month he would talk in front of us. Something real handy to get is a set of baby monitors and take it with you when you are in another area of the house and you can really hear all the words and sound effects really good. We have baby monitors and it is the best thing ever! Congradulations again. Of course we want to hear all the details about Kiko and photos too. If you have any questions please be sure to ask.
  5. I used a tiny amount of dishwashing liquid to clean our cages. Just enought to get some bubbles in warm water. My routine is to take the bottom pans and the top grate/rack above the pan outside and house them down. I have discovered a product called Poop Off:) which can be found at pet/bird stores and I spray that on the heavily pooped areas, wait about 5 minutes for it to work, then take a sponge and clean it with the soapy water. I rinse it real well, dry it off with towels and back to the cage they go.
  6. Just wondering if you went to the bird show and what you thought of it?
  7. Ok, I guess I can wait a little longer if you can;) I bet time seems almost stopped for you but atleast he is on his way:)
  8. This is so exciting. I can't wait either. I will keep checking in untill Gizmo is home. I know it will still take awhile but I'll be watching the forum anxiously awaiting his homecoming:) .
  9. That is so sweet and I am so happy for you. All that love and care you have put into her is now being returned. This is wonderful news!
  10. Congradulations. I know this is something you have been wanting for awhile and am so glad the time has finally come for you. When is Ice coming to stay with you? Do you have a long wait?
  11. Just wondering if there was any news? Is he home yet? I'm excited and don't want to miss out when Gizmo comes home.
  12. How do you know he is 15 years old if he was caught wild? Has he been near humans before? If so, how long? Where has he been kept? I think we need to know more about him & his history before anyone can answer the question. Please give us more info on him.
  13. I am so happy for you!!! That was a major accomplishment. I think you did right by giving him his space and letting him come around in his own time. Gosh before you know it you will be giving head scratches:woohoo: . I think some birds just take a little more time. Thank goodness you got him out of that scary place where he came from. He must have been terrified. It sounds like he is really coming around and is safe and happy and starting to trust again.
  14. Yes, he has already given me his list, too. {Holidays-000200B1}
  15. What the heck, heres one more. When is the deadline????
  16. Sorry for the duplicate pics. Carolyn told me to put his name on the photos so they could be identified easier when the movie is made.
  17. I've only been to one bird fair and they had lots of birds. Alot of babies, some older ones needing new homes & some breeding pairs. Some birds were the pets of the vendors and they came along too:) There were quite a few babies and many of them you could put a deposit on right then but they weren't ready to come home yet. Some were old enough and weaned or nearly weened and could go home that day, too. I'm sure if you want a bird you will be able to get one. It was good that luvparrots looked them up and found they had a great reputation. I was kind of thinking the same thing. Bird fairs should be pretty safe. If they weren't they probably wouldn't have so many of them. I know I enjoyed going so much and can't wait untill the next one. Even if you aren't out to buy a bird it's a great place to go spend some time and just look at all the different types. If you can't find the type of bird you want right there, there are plenty of breeders that you can connect with. I did notice that they were almost half the price you would pay in a pet store;) Good luck. Let us know how it goes:)
  18. Is that like a bird fair where several different breeders come take their birds to sell along with cages and accessories? (those are so much fun) I just read from a grey book that it is not the best place to get a new bird because there could be hidden illnesses brought in unknowingly and could possibly spread and wouldn't show up untill much later. With that said, I've been to a bird fair and I had planned to get another bird from the next bird fair we go to. Alot of the books are just peoples opinions and I was wondering myself if they were being overly cautious about it??? I think we still might buy one from a bird fair but might want to get a certificate of health and a wellness check shortly after bringing the new bird home.
  19. You know I was just thinking it might have to do with all the added excitement about getting your new grey today. You have been so excited the past few days from getting your new grey & maybe Woody picked up on it and got a little nervous himself. Just a thought;)
  20. Oh Indy is so cute. I like the name and how you came up with it. He's got some big beautiful eyes. It's a nice looking grey:)
  21. Did Woody eat anything brown? Baxter chews pine cones up for fun and I guess he eats some of it as well and his poop comes out as brown as the pine cones. I usually don't worry about the color cuz I notice it changes depending on what he eats but if I couldn't contribute the color to his diet I might be concerned. That's all I can contribute to it but I'm sure others know much more about this than me.
  22. She is beautiful and looks totally at home. Congradulations on your new baby!
  23. Good to see you back here. Now where are those pictures:)
  24. Wow! Fantastic Net. I would have never thought of something like that but it looks like it's a blast!!! Thanks for sharing the photos. Karma to you:)
