A super special treat at our house is popcorn. No salt, no butter. I have an air popper so it's all natural and not fattenting. They never get tired of popcorn and I'd say it's their all time favorite treat.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I would love see some photos of your flock when you get the chance. I too have multiple parrots. 1 grey, 1 eclectus, 1 conure & 1 DYH amazon. How did you come to get all your parrots? I'd love to hear more about them.

I'm bummed out today. Things were going so well and I thought things would only improve with the harness but I guess we are having a set back. It's been a couple of days since I put the harness on Baxter. I actually put it on him briefly last night just to keep him familar with it and he started making his clucking noises again and he was grabbing it with his beak in front of his chest and really chewing it hard:angry: . So, I took it off of him after just a few minutes and thought I'd try again later. Today I put it on him and the same thing. He is clucking and trying to get away from it and I did get it on him and we did go outside but he seemed totally perterbed about it the whole time. :unsure: So, I'm pretty bummed out and discouraged about it today. I told you I'd keep you all informed about the good and the bad. Today was bad:S

Thank you. Miss Kitty was everything to me but having Baxter helped me transition through it and accept it. Not that he could take her place. I don't think of it like that. He is just my new love and has brought more happiness than I could have ever imagined. I am so lucky to have him. And Miss Kitty will always be with me in my heart:)

Hello and welcome to the forum. Congradulations on your getting Bonek. He is still new and getting used to his new surroundings so giving him time to settle in. He is in a new place and everything is strange to him right now. Greys are known for picking a favorite person to bond with and right now it sounds like he has picked your wife. They are known to be one person birds. That does not mean you can not have a good relationship with him though. I would just give him some more time. Things could change and he may become more friendly with you. Main thing right now is letting him get comfortable with both of you and his new surroundings. He may be a little scared so Go slow at his pace. To get him used to you you can go by his cage and talk to him, read to him, do projects near by his so he can see you and get more curious. You can sing to him and just try to be near him without pressuring him in the beginning while he settles in. He has been through a big change it takes some time. There are many threads here on greys and please feel free to look through them. There is tons of information on the site pertaining to almost everything. If you have specific questions don't hesistate to ask. There are many knowledgable members here ready and willing to help answer any questions you may have. I hope you will tell us more about Bonkek. Where did you get him from? Do you have any other parrots or pets? And if you could post a picture of Bonkek that would be great. We loving showing off our greys here.

Oh he is so cute. I bet you are on cloud nine right now. Congradulations on your babys arrival.

My story is a sad one. I had a cat for 12 years since she was a kitten and my whole world revolved around her. She got sick and diagnoses with Acute Kidney Failure. It was terminal:( . I knew I wouldn't get another cat again and decided that when she passed I would get a parrot. I seen some sun conures that I thought were beautiful and thought I would get one of them. My husband checked craigslists and found some conures and an African grey and right from the start I said I wanted him~the grey. We went and saw him that day, picked him up and took him home. Now he is my whole world. My kitty got somewhat better and actually lived another 8 or 9 months which was a miracle. I was very blessed to have her that extra time and it gave me enough time to say good bye to her. Baxter is just as special to me as my kitty was. He helped me get through my loss. He is the love of my life now next to my husband:)

I just got Baxters harness last week and we are doing pretty good. I watched the video that came with it and it had a lot of good points but I knew I would not be able to put the harness on the way they showed in the DVD. I watched some youtube videos on how they put it on and it really helped me alot. We tried some more and I really happy with our progress. Good luck everyone. Keep trying.

I have a male eclectus...After seeing her picture, I want a female now, too. She is gorgeous!!

If Shady is that smart you should teach her all kinds of things if she learns so quickly. I'm with the others on this one. If Shady is that intelligent, it must be a girl:laugh: I'm happy for you. I can tell how much you love her already.

Thanks sweetnlowww. I need to find some other options for cleaning. I like the lemon juice option. Might try that next.

Oh good, I'm glad they helped. I mainly figured it out from watching the youtube video. Of course we are newbies at it too and my Baxter is no where near as calm as her Too is. If you didn't see it, there is a link for it on the first page of this post.

Of course he is twisting turning and hopping the entire time. :laugh:

And lastly the way it would look if he was in it. I keep the black tightening thingy up by his back wings. When he flies it may come down towards his leg area since it kind of swivels but I try and keep it away from the front where he can reach it and chew on it. I do think that part annoys him. I hope the photos helped instead of confuse.

Pulling the strap through in one motion, not several.

How it would look from the side.

I have learned to get the tightening thingy where you pull the strap through near his back area. That way his head is facing away from me. He still will turn his head and is annoyed but really can't get to me like that. He sometimes grabs my fingers with his beak to move my hand but luckily he does not bite me. I put his head through, then as quick as I can, pull the slack out of the line from above his back area. That way, his feet and legs are where they are suppose to be and pull the slack out from behind. I pull all the slack out with room for one finger to fit in so it won't be too tight. Then pull it through again so it is tightened in place. I hope that makes sense. Try tightening it from around the back side. I also noticed when the tightening thing is near his belly area it annoys him and he chews it and is more likely to get my fingers. so since it is easy to pull it around I pull towards the back behind his leg. Getting it off is just as bad as putting it on for me. He doesn't like it but each time seems a little bit better. I am going to put in photos to show how I put it on him and have the best luck with it.
