One thing to be aware of, is that birds can get car sick also. I use a clear plastic travel cage so my TAG can see every where. Luckily she does not get car sick, but one of our Sun Conures does. Just cover the cage and it helps them alot.

I just picked up my bird last weekend, The breeder was great, I cannot say enough good things about her. Anyway, we had the option of having her shipped to us, but we decided to drive over 7 hours one way to get her ourselves. Plus, then we could spend some time with the breeder and get a good feel on the bird. But I guess the 7 hour car ride back could have been traumatic too.... She is the most adorable, friendly bird I have seen yet. Her picture is my profile picture (the first night we got her I took probably 100 pictures at the hotel).
