3. It's so funny , whatever Sammy(CAG) sees Zsa Zsa (ALEXANDRINE ) doing , like being on top of my head....LOL...Then he will do it . Cute playstand , glad they like it . Mary
4. Two votes for Greyson one for Dorian Mary
5. Been there done that .Don't wait for the children .I am glad you repect yourself and sorry you don't have a kind person . I told my Daughter when she was growing up "Look for a man who can't live without you ".....All men are not jerks. I wouldnt contribute anything into his flat, if it's his , let him do it all....You take care of you , so you can get that Grey. Mary
6. Lady Jane, sounds like you are doing a great diet. I give my birds a small amount of sun flower seeds once in a while , but I do give them a small amount of other seeds daily , about a teaspoon .My Alexandrine loves seeds and as long as she eats the good stuff , I put a little in her sleep cage .Keep up the good diet. Kind Regards, Mary
7. It is cute , I see why you like it . Mary
8. I also suggest Grady. I have some friends whose Grey is named Grady and I love it . Someone once said they can say their name better if it ends with an e sound . Does anyone have a comment on that ?YOU can also do a toenail DNA FOR ABOUT $20.00 , then you would know the sex. I like Greyson also . Mary
9. What about putting all the names you like on a post and having everyone vote ?If you can't decide we can help..... Mary
10. Empress, You didn't sound mean when you said if we can't agree on a bird , then how will we agree on children ? You sound very smart !!! Mary
11. CeeBee, My Grey does it also and our Avian Vet said just what LMG and Judy said .Some do it and some don't , it really is normal .I have noticed my Grey doesnt do it as much as when I first brought him home , but every now and then he does. Mary
12. Cute pics everyone. I like all of them .I need to get Sammy in on this contest .He never really does anything as cute as these guys. Mary
13. LMG, that is so cute .How did you get him to pose for that pic ? I love it .Mary
14. Hello, I purchased a stainless steel skewer from DrFosterandSmith on line and I place chunks of apple , banana, collard greens broccoli, peppers , etc. on it ,and my birds go after it .You might also consider a foraging cup with healthy food inside or wedging apple etc .in the sides of cage .They love to forage for their food. Then you can keep the pellets , seeds , nuts in a bowl alone. Good luck , Mary

Post edited by: bettyboop, at: 2008/06/05 03:40
15. She is pretty ....I love her name and she sure looks as though she loves the camera, little Miss camera Bug. Congrats Mary
16. Andy , as everyone has given great advice .You might consider leaving on the radio or TV on a talk show while you are away , that way they are hearing words while you are gone . As strange as it may sound my Alexandrine Parrot started talking when I would sit her on my shoulder and watch you tube for about 30 mins. per day .She watched and listened to the other Alexandrines and started picking up their words.Strange but it helped , now she and my Grey say back and forth "whatcha doin "? about 50 times a day and argue who is a good bird ... Good luck and just keep on talking like you would if he were a child and you explain everything you do , washing dishes , cooking , etc... Good luck .Mary
17. Hi Tari , Thats neat that she said I love you , aren't they just precious . People who don't have birds have no idea the fun they are missing ! Congrats on the new word. Mary
18. Very Pretty Bird !!!Congratulations .Yes those dark eyes , indicate he is young . So excited that you finally have one of your own .Did he not have a name at the pet shop ? My CAG came with his name which I would have never chosen (SAMMY) but it's OK , he is a sweetie and we call him Sammy Whammy , so now he says "Sammy Whammy Good Boy " , It is so funny , as he is also . They really bring so much love , joy and humor in our homes. That is really a beautiful pictue of him on the window sill and the building behind , it would be a beautiful picture blown up on your wall. Love to hear more about the little guy , so keep us posted .Mary

Post edited by: bettyboop, at: 2008/06/05 03:14
19. People who don't have birds , just don't understand .That is sad , about these friends.Maybe they will understand later. You have to do whats in your heart .As I said in an earlier post , I have backed out before also , I totally understand and don't blame you at all. Mary
20. Empress , I am sorry , I feel as though I have encouraged you to do something , that will cause a problem in your life. I didnt mean to . I would just be quiet about it , perhaps that would give him time to reconsider. Also , you take care of yourself and do what is best for your future .Bank your money , so you can have your own flat and any pet you choose, we only live once . Kind Regards, Mary
21. Hi Dina, welcome to the forum . Ozzy is a great looking bird . My first Grey took 8 months to come around , so reading and visiting is very important and helps so much .I also fed ours oatmeal every morning with a spoon . I think it helped to nurture him , he loved it and he did get a lot more gentle after the spoon feeding. How very kind of you to take him in .Good job !!!! Keep us posted , Mary
22. Great inspiring stories everyone . Such a great group of people . So glad I am here. Our children are grown , married and in their own homes , which left ours very empty . Our kids were and are so important to us , but after they moved it was soooo quiet and unnatural feeling . So our birds fill our home with noise, and laughter and fill a very empty void , known as the empty nest. Our nest is full of chatter and something funny is always taking place .They have taught me to find joy in God's Creations. Mary

Post edited by: bettyboop, at: 2008/06/04 19:13
23. Hey Empress , why not give him a baby Grey for his birthday ?That's what I did when I wanted my second dog , and my husband said no more dogs , so I went and bought a hunting dog for his B DAY. Want to know what he did ,He bought me one for my Bday . So at that time we ended up with three dogs. LOL....GRIN...... My husband wanted the first Grey and I didnt , we got it anyway , then I fell in love with the bird. You can teach your bird to potty in a certain place , a lot of people do this . I clean my cages everyday and I do not have smell or poop all over my house .Our birds fly around some but they basically stay were they are placed. Some people think birds are dirty , that is crazy , they are cleaner than dogs I think , I have had dogs in my house before .It wasnt fun at all , dog hair battles everyday. Anyway tell him everytime he ask what do you want for Christmas , b day , love day or whatever day .I WANT A BABY GREY , it's better than a human baby .HA HA . Good luck, Mary
24. Great news .Good luck , the Parrots will be so happy if anything can be done to improve their lives. So will we, Mary
25. Great pics , Dave .I enjoyed , thank you for sharing . Mary
