Dave , I would like to know what you suggest on providing uneven types of branches and placing them in odd places. Thank you in advance. Sammy is using one dowel perch , one booda perch , and one rough finish for toe nails . He doesnt do well when I change things in his cage , I have a Grapevine branch which is weird shaped and all different sized branches , would this work or not ?He is all over his cage and plays on the bottom a lot . Sammy loves apples and would eat two a day if I would let him , he begs for them and flies to the kitchen and attacks the fruit bowl , so now the fruit is outa site . Mary

B , I got a real visual on this one..LOL....how funny , I can just see it , next there will be a complete line of spandex clothing line for Greys on the market and you and Elmo will be rich . Hey it's a thought , you can name it Elmo spanx. Corny , I couldnt resist..... Mary

Her website is www.wendysparrots.com , her name is Wendy Craig and she is an excellent breeder. Her phone is 817-594-7322. She allows you to visit as often as you can to play with the baby you choose and helps you after you take them home . She is very dedicated to her birds , I think you will like her . I purchased my Alexandrine from her , and almost a Grey .The one I wanted was already purchased and I wanted a male.Anyway check her website out .Welcome to the group. Skuffy, I found the post on sunflower seeds, that you posted .If anyone is interested it is in the Feeding Forum titled To Feed Seed Or Not To Feed Seed.Skuffy found this great info on sunflower seeds which might change your opinion about them. Mary

Also I think you posted the great research about the nutritional value about sunflower seeds .If so , would you redirect everyone to which post that is located on .So they can read for themselves , they aren't bad , in moderation .Thanks , Mary

You know I have cooked , tried pellets and you name it..My birds are picky also , so the latest best thing I have found , I purchased stainless steel skewers from Foster and Smith , and put chunks of veggies and fruit on them ,hang in the cage and put the dry stuff in the bowl .They love foraging the food off the skewers and are eating most of what is on it .I do allow my birds to have sunflower seeds , there is another post on the forum that has the nutritional value, and in moderation , they are not bad for birds .Also , Greys love apples . LJ, There are products made to feed your bird after weaning that will encourage them to eat . I am not sure of the name , but I would think any on line Parrot store would offer it . Mary

A comfortable Grey who wants to be with you will move towards you or fluff up a little bit and shake his feathers to let you know he is relaxed and friendly .Comfortable , trusting Greys rarely exhibit the posture associated with normal vigilance of prey animals .You will know when that happens , if ever.Sometimes if they are playing and attacking a toy , you might notice this . If there are no signs of illness, continual fluffing with sluggishness, then it sounds like your guy is very relaxed. Mary

Hello Allena, Does your Grey jump and fall to the floor or does he fly away? If he flies away maybe he doesnt want to be stepped up. You can try to bring him in closer to your body to prevent a fall .Try to step him up on your hand for a more steady perch , or gently close your thumb down on his toes to help him feel more secure.My Grey likes to step up onto our fist , then he proceeds to the wrist area.Also, maybe he isn't being handled enough to want to be handled.Has someone changed a hairstyle or new nail polish ? I highlighted my hair and my birds reacted very strongly to it ..I am sure some of the others will have some good suggestions. Check out cheep parrot toys and tips which is a yahoo group , hope I don't get in trouble for suggesting another group but it's just to get some ideas .Then you just come right back to the forum.LOL... I just buy most of mine and some toy parts from Nalani toys. Hope this helps . Mary
