I kept hoping and praying that someone found Tui and returned her, but I haven't read or heard any news. So sad this had to happen. I hope that Andrew is doing as well as can be expected.

So sad about the baby's crop. Please post back and let us know how it's doing. I would say ask the breeder if you could exchange the bird for another baby, but how unfair for the bird to not get treatment, and so unfair to you for all of the expense. Hopefully, the breeder will compensate you in some way. Good luck, please let us know how this situation turns out.

Nice photos! LOL - They'll grab anything tasty, won't they? LOL

Thanks for sharing, cute video!

LOL - that's so cute! We've been straining our ears trying to figure out the things that Obi is mumbling. We can make out a few things, but not everything. It's so amazing.

Oh, that's so cool. I love hummingbirds. I have a feeder outside of my office window, and in the wee hours of the early morning, a male will perch and sit there for the longest time, chasing off any of the others that come for feeding - lol - especially in the rainy weather (light rain, of course). I'd LOVE a hummingbird nest to be so close. I bought these supposed hummingbird branches that someone made to draw the hummers to build a nest in them, but it never worked. Absolutely, awesome picture of the quail. I love nature!{Nature-0002009E}

I hope you don't mind my reply, but there is no way I would allow any of my birds to be around a little puppy. Sounds like you're asking for trouble. Puppies chew on anything/anyone while they are teething. Please be careful your bird doesn't accidentally get harmed.

Thankfully, you were there and could rescue her from her misery! Geez, the predicaments they can get into. Glad you were home and managed to free her without further harm. Whew!{Feel-good-000200BB}

Our bird's name is Obi (pronounced Obie), it's an African name meaning heart or soul. Obi was born the same day my Mom passed away, December 7, 2007. She was our 25th wedding anniversary gift (May 12th). I felt heart/soul to be very meaningful as hearts are so full of love and when you have true love, you love with the debth of your soul. We had a difficult start, as this is our first large bird and had to learn how to handle her. We've made so much progress. She is sitting on my hand/arm, allowing me to pet/scratch her head and loves it. She's very affectionate and loves it when you pet her head. She still gets a little nippy, but I can handle it by not pulling back so quickly out of fear. I say a firm "no bite" and she listens every time. We love her so much and she's bringing so much joy and happiness into our lives. Sioban - WOW, I would never have guessed the pronunciations of all of your names - lol - while reading, I pronounce them in my head exactly has they look - lol - very unique names. By the way, I love your grape face picture!

Parrot Owners Prepared Pack for Lost Bird’s
Lovelylew replied to Zarlock's topic in The GREY Lounge
Andrew, I am so sorry that Tui flew away. I have watched your videos on Youtube so many times, hoping that one day my Obi and I will have a wonderful relationship and as much fun as you and Tui have. God works in mysterious ways. Don't lose hope. Miracles do happen and you may just locate your Tui. I will keep you in my prayers. God Bless! Debbie -
I had Obi DNA sexed by sending a feather to a lab for under $20. The breeder thought she was a boy and we thought she was a boy. We were going to be happy either way because the sex really didn't matter to us, but it was fun finding out.

Happy Hatchday Josie!

lol - I think we're all waiting for the plans. We'll probably get them when the person has time enough to post them. Very very nice play gym, tho, better than most I've seen for sale!

I voted again. I hope I did it correctly.

Pat, thanks so much on the update with Tobie. I'm so glad that things are going as well as can be expected. Hopefully, in time things will improve with each new day. Thank God you and your husband are so loving. Good thing that she still wants her scratches, that makes it all worth it I'm sure. Thanks again for keeping up updated.
-
Raposa, how is Tobie doing? How are you doing? Thinking about you and hope all is well.

Oh, I wanted to mention that Obi holds her beak on one of the cage rungs with her head tilted sideways - lol - it's so cute. I guess it's because it keeps her head steady while I scratch - lol - have a great Sunday!

Post edited by: Lovelylew, at: 2008/05/18 14:32

Isn't that the BEST feeling? Congratulations. Obi has been puffing up like that for me now all the time. Everytime I pass her cage, she wants a scratch. I can even open the door and scratch/touch away. She loves it when I touch her cheeks and face. I can't wait until she lets me hold her while scratching/petting. It's the best feeling ever. I hope that this is the beginning to wanting her head scratched all the time now. {Feel-good-000200BB}

Hi Raposa, thanks for answering. I went to the site you mentioned, http://www.birdclick.com. Are you sure this is the correct site?
-
For those who ordered the clicker training program, I was wondering how it was going? Are you having any success? Can't wait to hear some feedback.
-
Congratulations! Sounds like you found yourself a great deal and a very well socialized Grey! Can't wait to hear more about him/her. I wouldn't be surprised if she started talking very soon! So happy for you!

Obi weighs 389 and is 5 months old.

Thank you for directing me there. I'm still learning my way around the forum and should have gone to the next page - lol

Pat, I'm glad someone directed me here. I've been thinking about you and Tobie and hoping that things were okay. It's in God's hands now. Hopefully, Tobie won't suffer, that's the important thing. Take care of you, too. I know this must be difficult for you. Our pets are our family members. Tobie is in loving arms. I'll keep you in my prayers. On a brighter note, have fun at your daughter's First Communion. Such a special time!
