  1. Happy Belated New Year, Steve. All the very best to you & Misty parrot!
  2. How can you help but smile watching her? Yep, very good way to start the new year!! TU both
  3. Yay, GoBubbaGo!! Aside from whatever complications you may cause, it's truly wonderful for you to maybe get back the thing that makes you a bird!! I always try to imagine everything you write "plus sized". I know what it's like to have as many as 6 "larger" fids flying around at once. But not anything like the size of a good sized 'Too let alone a B&G!! I find myself finishing your posts & thinking, "Good luck w/that!". lol ...wishing you all the best yet again!
  4. He's doing so good!! And on a side note, it looks so-o-o warm & green. Can we have some more, please? lol
  5. It looks like Google's not happy w/http://www.greyforums.net, again. But it isn't apparently warning people off other pages at the moment. Unfortunately, it's a little too easy to hit "Home" going for "New Posts" in some browser windows. So even knowing that it still makes this potentially threatening. These knuckleheads really need to get a life.
  6. Because of you, Jack got to live the end of his days in a safe place where he was truly loved & got everything possible to keep him as happy as as he could be. I'm sorry it hurts so much. I wish I could say it will get better eventually. For some, it will never stop hurting to lose each & every baby. But isn't that a small price to give back to a critter who's previously lived such a sad existence?
  7. The spectrum of new hope & possibilities; so many beautiful bright colors. And the Littles are going to be so happy in that awesome aviary. This thing just keeps getting better & better. Great job!!!
  8. Yes, I really believe any critter should only be adopted & loved for themselves, too. Particularly in this type of case signing up for double the work, expense, etc. Might just as well go all in, anyway. I've had my TAG Phenix for about 25 yrs. He's coexisted w/a number of resident & foster fids of various sizes & personalities. He's ignored as many as possible. He's actively disliked a few. He's totally dominated by one of the tiels. And he's (not so) secretly enamored w/the ekkie, Kura. From my own experience, I would avoid adding smaller birds into our flock in the future. I hate always having to fear for them & trying to keep them separate but equal. No other greys, either. But only because of Phenix' personality. Phenix was a wild caught & abused rescue who can be hair trigger aggressive & literally dangerous sometimes. As impossible as it is to know how the next fid will change the flock dynamic, I'm pretty sure a grey would cause serious dominance & competition issues. Not worth the gamble. However, Phenix & Kura are really pretty good together. They do actually like each other & it seems to keep growing. Kura's a sweetie pie & Phenix responds better to her than anyone who's lived here, which is why I hope someday they'll become real friends. Also, Greys learn by example & Kura's the first fid Phenix has thought worthy to really watch. I catch him doing things that I know for sure, he's picked up from her. Kura's a snuggler. One of her favs is to bury her head against my cheek. It was a real "Awww" moment when Phenix started trying to make those same kinds of affectionate gestures. Well, kind of, but a little challenging given that he's always been such a biter. Anyway, they're good together, whether Phenix would admit to it or not. And I love them both to pieces. In some ways, they're polar opposites. So between the two, I've pretty much got everything I want in a fid most days. So, getting a flock mate for Jabber Wocky seems like a fine idea to me. But maybe not yet. Once you know what you would & wouldn't like in another fid AND fall in love again, maybe then. But only once Jabber Wocky is old enough to have some idea of who she really is becoming. Your next fid is as much of a commitment as she was & in a perfect world, you'll want everyone to live happily ever after for many, many, many years.
  9. And now I've got a picture in my head that won't apparently be going away any time soon. Thanks for sharing, Ray.
  10. I think around here, that would qualify as a Christmas miracle. I'm still a little in awe every time I think of it.
  11. Christmas Cheers from New England & lots of good wishes for a happy holiday!
  12. If you keep experimenting eventually, you'll likely hit on the right bath tub. But I've pretty much given up trying to figure out who will & who won't bathe when, where or why. I swear it's one of those things that totally proves how drastically different a human's thought process is from a fid's. But, at least she's bathing & that's awesome! Always fun to watch, too ")
  13. No way!! All that, lights, cords, everything & no one's messed w/it????????? NO way!!
  14. Okay, "a Christmas wish" upgraded to "a Christmas miracle". Done. And a Very Merry to all of yours as well.
  15. Congratulations & Welcome! She's such a pretty little girl! That was a greyt idea putting the boot/dog/whatever tray on top of the cage. Anything to get her to start enjoying water & bathing is super. And don't worry about her response to other types of bathing at the moment. She's going to change her mind about a lot of things in the next 50 or so yrs. That may well be one of them. Especially once the weather gets warmer.
  16. ^^^ Seriously! Christmas wish for you guys to finally find what works & quit w/all the moving & what not. Then maybe, just maybe you could actually find the time to get out once in a while. lol
  17. ...and they'd be absolutely correct!! lol Phenix' letter would read something like... Dear Santa, I've been at this far too long not to know that I can get away w/everything & still get presents, too! ...which is actually true on any given day. Guess that means every day is Christmas at my house!!!
  18. Awww. Isn't it wonderful how something so simple feels so greyt!?!
  19. Wow, that's some serious blood letting! Ehugs for Pat!! Raging hormones are temporary insanity. That's all there is to it. The sweetest fid in the world can turn into a serious menace & back into well, the sweetest find in the world 2ish wks later. Nothing for it but to wait them out & keep all the really vulnerable body parts as far out of reach as possible.
  20. http://www.nowzad.com/ might be worth contacting if you haven't already. I know they've gotten a rep for transporting dogs. But if they don't know how to do parrots, maybe they know someone who does or something that will help you?? And meanwhile, yes, how about some new pics?
  21. That's such a shame! But maybe there's another alternative ...a home that's already infected/exposed. Like Murfchck's. NOT that I'm suggesting you send them south [cuz that'd get me in some deep doodoo! lol] But maybe you can find a similar situation. I don't think anyone can say those birds are anything to be pitied.
  22. Looks like the recall training is going greyt!!
  23. Nice!!! Hope he's settling in...?
  24. I had an Amazon order going & just checked for anything worth adding for the fids. Perfect timing! There was a bunch of "flash fun" stuff marked down to a few dollars. And even though Amazon prices change like the staircases at Hogwarts, they were still worth checking out last I saw. This is the kind of thing that's good for a fun couple of hours destruction & particularly good for Kura when she's at her feathers. I set a loose $5 max & got at least a few month's worth of something for pretty much everyone. These are my 2 fav's for under $3 (at the time). I have to say, anything made from organic material was a nice surprise. Individually wrapped, clean, very nice looking. http://www.amazon.com/EcoLoofah-Model-Parrots-Chinchillas-Natural/dp/B00H7SGHYQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1418584893&sr=1-2&keywords=EcoLoofah+Model+No.+9 http://www.amazon.com/Fetch-It-Pets-Chew-Elephant-Bird/dp/B00C65VOMA/ref=sr_1_2?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1418584960&sr=1-2&keywords=Fetch-It+Pets+Zoo+Chew There was an "expensive" toy that I really just couldn't resist, even though it was $19 @. List was $75 (?). But I ignored that, because sometimes list has no bearing on any reality I recognize. I did read the description & thought I got the size. But whenever I hauled this beast out of the box, everyone who was hanging over my shoulder flat out ran for cover! lol It's a couple of feet long & must weigh 3-4 lbs. I put the dog in the pic for size ref. That's not the camera angle & she's right in front of it. Ok, she isn't very big. lol But it's like 2 times her height... Certainly worth a lot more than $19 for anyone w/big, aggressive chewers. But it will initially freak the more timid fids out, for sure! http://www.amazon.com/Prevue-Products-62473-Bodacious-Monster/dp/B00DBW4IH0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1418584783&sr=8-2&keywords=bodacious+bites
